I-85 Flea Market is Juicy Papaya

by Dave B.

Last time I was there I spent a buck. Could'nt afford more. That bought me a nice juicy papaya and the watermelon was extraordinary (50 year old watermelon snob alert!). I will be there tomorrow selling my stuff; losin' the crib downsizing into a van. I'm glad there is a place I can pass along my tool collection and restored antique furniture, art supplies, electronics, rugs, grinders, buffers, sanders, metal tools, etc...Don't have to worry about hanging all those "garage sale" signs.

Not impressed at all

by D R.

Even though it's under new ownership and has been cleaned up somewhat....the bathrooms are an improvement.
NC Dept of AG regulations on selling eggs are still not being properly followed. Being sold with signs stating "Hatching eggs only" but the vendors tell yet a different tale as a loop hole around selling eggs for human consumption, the eggs are usually cull eggs for a local hatchery...most of those eggs are fertile...not to mention on open display in 95 heat all day, hey you like your eggs over easy?

It's changed a little but it's tradition, ya know?

by Shelly P.

I've been going here since I was a little kid. Yeah, it's changed a little bit and recently they have been sending people out about the safety and health of the animals so I mean it's a place where you can go and meet new people and find things relatively cheap. I flea market isn't supposed to be about super clean, expensive, snobby visits. It's supposed be about finding things cheap, fast, and with little stress as possible.

In all reality, the place is a little dirty but come on! You gotta take the good with the bad, right? If you don't like it - don't go back =) It's simple as that.

Are you people kidding? I give it 2 thumbs up!!!

by Marisa W.

A flea market is a flea market. I'm sorry, but I thought that being mostly outside it might tend to make is a little dirty because there are after all, tons of cars that drive up and down the dirt parking lot! A clean outdoor flea market? OK? The animals, I agree with. They need to be indoors only and have plenty of water. As for being a proud American, this does not define believing in your country and standing up for your country! OK so there might be boot legged or stolen merchandise, but hey, don't you find that at EVERY flea market? Simple solution, don't buy it or don't go back. No need to put Gaston County's ONLY flea market down. For the people who have not visited this flea market, I have been visiting it for as long as I can remember, and yes it was by the exit on I-85 when I started going. IT IS A FLEA MARKET!!! There are great deals, stolen merchandise and boot legged items, but what can I say? It's a true, real life flea market. PS I am a 35 year old female from Gastonia.

HORRIBLE.

by ashley d.

This has got to be the dirtiest flea market I have ever been to and poorly ran. I was VERY dissapointed. Half the stuff looked like it was stolen! It did not seem like a welcoming place AT ALL. I felt very out of place. I will NEVER visit that flea market ever again. Someone needs to shut down that place or do something to make it nicer. It looks like a hot mess of junk. This place doesnt even deserve a rate. It is like -1000000000. Ew.

Haters!

by Jason F.

I just read the two earlier reviews and could not disagree more. Not only can you find GREAT deals, like my friend who just bought a mint condtion Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES for $15, or a wireless router I picked up for $10, but it's also a meeting place for all kinds of people to interact. When I go to the 321 Flea Market I feel like it's what's America is all about, all kinds of different people, getting along & trying to make or save a little gas money. So if your a snob or hater, then stay away from the flea market, but if you love America and all it stands for then the 321 Flea market is just for you!!

Need to be shut down!

by S P. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 797

I never knew places like this existed in the United States! 321 Flea Market is a disgrace! It's filthy dirty, has so many bootlegged items it's a miracle the FBI hasn't raided the place. Smokers are more than welcomed and somewhere there must be an unwritten law that requires them to blow their stinking smoke in the face of non-smokers! The worst part of this h%^ hole is the poor defenselss animals being sold out of the trucks of cars, cardboard boxes, old playpens and hot cages. There are hundreds of them! No wonder Gaston County has such a huge problem at their animal shelters! Oh, I can guarantee you'll see MANY pittbulls and other aggressive breeds there. Not only are they for sell, but their owners proudly throw a chain or heavy rope around the poor dogs neck and walk him/her around proudly. With so many animals, it's only a matter of time before a tragedy occurs and of course, everyone will blame the poor dogs. This place needs to be shut down immediately. It's a haven for hot merchandise and animal abuse!

PROS: Absolutely NONE
CONS: Too many to even begin to list
