Though I was warned of the incompetence if Doctors at Banfield, I was hoping for a different result. My husband and I adopted a 1 1/2 year old pointer in April of 2011. We felt as though we were helping our puppy by providing her with the Banfield wellness plan. We were naive in the fact that Banfield increases their prices to later discount services for the sake of providing a discount to us wellness plan patience. After bringing our Sick puppy in for an exam (not eating, vomiting, large golf ball size lump on her rib cage, diarrhea, lathargic) we were instructed to get an Xray and some other expensive procedures. Diagnosis: Gas & Stool in rectum. The difference in standard amount and our Ins amount @ 10%. We brought our puppy home and noticed her getting worse. Trying everything, we changed Vets and took her to a qualified Vet. After taking more Xrays and a blood screening test, found that she had Cancer (rare form for a 2 year old) and due to the constant break down in her blood cells, she had a hernia (present but misdiagnosis at Banfield exam) with her internal organs collapsed through the diaphragm causing extreme pain and discomfort. She later passed away due to something we could have possibly helped her with if we had knowledge. I then called corporate to ask to discontinue my wellness plan due to the death of my dog. Corporate informed me that due to services rendered compared to how much I have paid (an amount of $119.00) I have to continue paying my ins. until the two amounts balance out. I have paid for every service at the time of the service since April. She is stating that since the amount of money the "Insurance" saved me is more than the amount I have paid for insurance is different, I still have to Pay for the Insurance until I have paid the amount I was saved. So basically, the wellness plan is like a Credit Card, you are just putting the money off to pay later. It does not save you any amount. Also, for the naive pet owner like myself. The total amount for all the work performed at the more competent Vet was less than the discounted amount at Banfield. Wish I would have known this before, I might still have my Puppy!

Business Response:

Thank you for providing this feedback. First we want to say how sorry we are for the loss of your pet. After reading your review, we would like the opportunity to speak with you directly. Please remember that our wellness plans are not insurance. Unlike insurance, our wellness plans are preventive services pets need throughout the year, packaged together at a highly discounted price and with the convenience of a 12-month financing option. If at any point during the plan year, you decide to cancel the wellness plan, you are able to do so by either paying for the services youβ??ve already used at full price, or the remaining wellness plan payments, whichever is less. For more information and to discuss your concerns please call our Client Advocate Team at 877-500-2288. Again, weβ??re sorry for your loss.

I originally signed up for a pet plan in order to get my dog's teeth cleaned. since I have substandard service since!! The service techs aren't pet friendly at all!! My dog is a people dog and she hates everybody there to include the vets!!\n\nOn the day of her dental cleaning I called them around 1:30 pm assuming that they had at least started, no. When I asked the tech answered the phone she informed me that the procedure hadn't even been started. I had to make arrangements with work to pick her up at the time I was told, well since they hadn't even started I was going to have to change my arrangements, when I asked the tech what was going on, when I could get my dog I was told ""I don't know!"". I then asked to talk to someone that did know, I was told someone would call me when they knew something...\n\nI told her that was unacceptable and I needed to speak to someone that could tell me what was going on, she just repeated herself!!\n\nTo top it all off, while they weren't doing anything with my dog they let her sit in a cage for hours without taking her out to go to the bathroom, the kicker here is I just took her to the same vet for a urinary track infection!! How stupid can you be!! \n\nI have approximately 5 to 6 months left on my pet plan that I have signed a contract for that I refuse to use! I will have to pay the remaining balance on the contract but I will take her to her old vet. Chalk it up to a lose before I loose my dog for good, they just don't care!!

I have taken my kitten there since I got her in August, 2010. The staff has been great, and have shown a genuine interest in the health and well-being of my baby girl. After every appointment, I got a call from the staff checking in on how my cat was doing. When I scheduled her to get spayed, they called me the day before I was to drop her off and offered to take her a day early because of the bad weather we were to get the next day. It saved me a trip in the ice and snow! They even let me call in and check in on her to make sure she was okay and put my mind at ease, they never made it seem like an inconvenience like most places can do! I LOVE Banfield at White Oak, and I recommend it to all my friends with pets, especially when it comes to the Wellness Plans. :)

My first visit was ok. I dissmissed some of the slackness of service because they were busy. So, I signed my dog up for a wellness plan. Every visit after that was terrible. First, they have no communication skills. They schedule appointments for you without telling you (i'm sorry, they call you the day before - this happened twice). Once you go to an appointment, you wait longer than a walkin. Or sometimes you wait while they talk and play in the back office. Once, they had me leave my dog for routine vacs. After I picked him up and got him home, it was evident they did not give ANY water. He was sooo thirsty when he got home. Second, the techs/receptionists are terrible. They are unorganized, rude, and slow!\r\nThe third and best part is if you want to cancel your wellness contract because of their lack of care, consideration for your pet, and incompetence, GOOD LUCK! I filled a complaint against them. I was told they would get back with me, untill then they would freeze my account. Six months later, I recieve a bill from a COLLECTION AGENCY. Really?? I did not recieve a bill for this or a resolution for my complaint. Seriously, is this legal?\r\nThe manager swears she left me a voicemail telling me they resolved my complaint and they would pay XXX and I would pay XXX. Really? A voicemail?\r\n

I understand both sides as I too have had to wait; however, they have been wonderful with my Chi-Poo who has had liver issues. It may take a while for a doctor to get in there, but they have always answered my questions and addressed my concerns. I have saved quite a bit of money with the plan. My other dog has always seen a private vet and it is no different with them other than it costs me alot more. The reason I haven't switched her to Banfield is the fact there isn't one close by my house and she doesn't ride well.

I would not recommend going to Banfield Animal Hospital at White Oak. The people that work there are VERY rude. They make you wait for a long time and only spend all of five minutes in the room with you. I have definitely canceled my renewal and will NOT be going back there.

'DONT GO TO BANFIELD!'

ThIs is the worst place ever to take your pets they are too big for their britches. You will go in and just wait and wait around for them. They make you do all these tests that arent necessary. you will spend so much money at this place and not get results. i used to work at the banfield at white oak i know them personally and take it from me you dont want to go here!!!! they are rude. the only ones who are decent there are Dr. Blue and Jamie the Csr. Horrible horrible place not recommended at all. We just spent over 600 in 3 days and still do not know whats wrong. They dont call you back. they only care about your money. do not do not go here there are a lot of people to back me up. rediculous. I recommend a private vet and not a chain,. They only care about money and not your pet.

I thought I was doing my research by checking out the office and getting details on the plans before purchasing. At first glace it all sounded great. I made an appointment for my pets to get one shot, during that visit my opinion drastically changed. Before the appointment I had decided to purchase a plan for each pet. After checking in at the front desk I waited in the exam room for over 45 minutes before a Vet Tech even showed up (this is for a scheduled appt). Then they wanted to do their ""process of tests"" on both dogs then. All I wanted was a kennel cough vaccine. At the time they were 5 months premature for their yearly vaccines, so I was shocked when they wanted to give it to them then. I refused and said I'd bring them back when their annual shots were due.\r\nSince that visit I've been there 3 times, each time I have to wait for a while just to get check-in/out. Then they gave me the wrong dosage of flea/tick med. I didn't notice this until a few days later. So I thought, well this should be an easy fix. I go back to the store and tell them that a staff memeber has given me the wrong dose and I'd just like to get that fixed. I wait.. I wait and I wait some more. Come to find out they don't sell the brand anymore (mind you this is 6 days after I purchased it) and don't know how to refund me. This struck me as clearly disfunctional that I was given the wrong stuff by a staff memeber and they can't fix it. I was there for 45 minutes before they offered a resolution. During the 45 minutes, I was in line, the girl working the desk put me on hold and took care of the 3 customers behind me and then when I was the only person there she goes to the back to get someone out to help me... Seriously now, how completely backward is this? If she was not capable of handling my situation, does it make sense to wait until I've been there for 40 minutes before getting help???\r\nI couldn't help but laugh as I walked out of the store... because Petsmart had a center aisle stand selling the very brand that Banfield said they no longer sold. I know they aren't the same business but COME ON...\r\n\r\nI would NEVER recommend this Banfield to anyone. I doubt that I'll ever go to one again.

I have the Feline Wellness Plan with Banfield. It has saved me a LOT of money over the years. My cat is 6 now and has started to have a few health problems. I think I have saved around $3,000 so far! The staff is great and Dr. Frederico is wonderful and caring. She is THE BEST! Thank you Banfield for looking after my cat, Frodo. Kathy Currie

I have several priorities regarding the medical care of my dog, and Dr. Perry has demonstrated the ability to exceed my expectations. She is a veterinarian who genuinely loves all animals; additionally, Dr. Perry exhibits the aptitude, educational background, and social skills to ensure that the health and overall well-being needs of my dog are met at every visit. Despite having a busy schedule, I have noticed that she develops a positive rapport with co-workers, pets, as well as pet owners.

The Client Services staff is welcoming and friendly at all times. In my experience, Amanda and Jamie have consistently been courteous, empathetic, attentive, and organized. They maintain positive attitudes and are good listeners when discussing any and all pet concerns, illnesses, or medications.

When taking today's economical issues into consideration, signing up for the Optimum Wellness Plan is a sensible decision for any pet owner who is on a tight budget. Medical bills for pets can be costly, and this plan has been very beneficial. For approximately 20 dollars per month, my dog has received all necessary first year vaccinations (as well as vaccine warranties), heartworm/lyme/ehrlichia test, three fecal exams, hookworm deworming, an ear swab and microscopic exam, and spay. All visits are included in the plan as well as a yearly comprehensive physical exam.

I have had my pets at this Banfield for over 4 years. I moved from the Banfield on Timber Drive. My schnauzer had brain cancer and Dr. Perry was wonderful in explaining what was wrong and what options I had. We used prednisone to try to extend his life. When I finally had to put him down, Dr. Perry came into the room and talked with me prior to the procedure and comforted me afterward. She is a wonderful, helpful and compassionate Dr. I see alot of negativity about some of the Banfield's around, but I believe that they are franchised and you cannot use one to compare to another. I have had a fantastic experience and will continue to go there with my other pets.
