I really like Red Oak Beer, but there restaurant isn't the best. It was dead on what should of been a busy night. The service was okay the food was average. There are so many great restaurants in Greensboro, I would skip this one.

I first ate at Red Oak Brew Pub on a day when work closed early due to snow, and it was on the way home. It was a really fantastic view, watching the snow come down while I was eating one of the best burgers I've ever had and drinking a great cup of coffee. I started dating the woman who's now my wife not long after that, and Red Oak was our favorite place for a long time. Their menu wasn't extensive, but everything was just perfect, and the beers from their microbrewery were about as good as it gets, as was the service. However, over time and through a couple of management and ownership changes, the menu was pared down, the service became minimal at best, and now I wouldn't go there for anything but the beer. Still, the memories are really special...

Very nice selection of locally brewed beer. Very nice outside dining in nice weather. Great variety on the menu for any occasion. Secluded yet close.

Red Oak used to be a great place to go. My husband and I went there often when we were dating and kept going after we got married. A couple of years ago, the service started slacking off. We had to wait longer and longer each time we went. About a year ago, we waited 45 minutes only to find out that our order hadn't even been started. Now, if we'd have ordered their drunken chicken or something like that, it would have been one thing, but we order a salad and a sandwich so the wait was really not explainable. We didn't go back for a couple of months and then, when we decided to try again, we found the menu had been cut back to nearly nothing and most of our favorites were gone. Now, the beer is great, and I highly recommend the black and tan which is done with the Red Oak amber and Battlefield Black. If you just want to go for a drink, no problem. But I wouldn't recommend it for dinner anymore. Actually, they've been remodeling so I'm hoping they'll bring the restaurant side back up to par.
