I'm new to the area and was looking for a prescription for heart worm prevention for my dogs, specifically Revolution.

I purchase their meds from an outside source as it's less expensive for the product, not to mention, Revolution is getting more difficult to find for canines.

I called Dunn Animal Hospital to see if they would write a prescription and the woman on the phone was terribly rude. She snapped back "we don't do that!" (meaning write prescriptions to take to outside vendors). My previous veterinarian wrote prescriptions, albeit, for a small fee, but it is my right to be able to choose where I have my prescriptions filled.

As my dogs' health is more important than saving a few bucks, I called back later to see if they even carried Revolution for dogs and was greeted by one of the most ignorant girls with whom I've ever spoken.

First she said that if I brought in documentation that proved my dogs have been on Revolution in the past, they'd be able to sell it to me. (I find it interesting that they will test an animal and not write a prescription, but allow an animal to go untested, and sell you their own products...).

She then asked for the weights of my dogs, which I gave her, and I also told her I'd need a year supply. She put me on hold just to return to tell me they quit carrying the product for dogs and only stock the feline version.

Because I have been through so many products and only Revolution seems to work on my dogs, I asked if they'd be able to write a prescription or order it for me. Again I was told it couldn't be done, but they had several other products from which to choose.

In summary:

1) The reception staff is extremely rude

2) The reception staff is not schooled on the products and services offered by the clinic

3) The reception staff doesn't listen to, nor respect the needs of the patient

4) The clinic prohibits patients from exercising their right to select pharmacies of their choice

This was all experienced without stepping one foot in the clinic. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I hope others consider taking their furry and feathered friends elsewhere for healthcare.

Now I'm left driving over forty minutes each way to take my pets to a clinic that truly cares. It's worth it.

I was very impressed with the care given my pet. She had injured herself and was treated very gently and kindly. The facility looked less flashy than my old vet's office, but they did digital x-rays and it seems money is being spent where it matters. I was extremely worried about cost and the staff kept me informed as we went along of what the bill was adding up to. I will definitely use them as my regular vet. I was especially impressed with the way they observed her body mechanics to evaluate her injury.

Excellent caring staff willing to do what is best for the pet. Always willing to answer questions. They have cared for two of my babies and were exceptional. I have never experience the compassion expressed by the staff when Rhett Butler had to be put down after 15 years with us. The staff is responsible for our new baby - Logan Tyler - who they rescued. Even when I've been "over-reactive", they have taken my after hours calls and calmed my fears. You will never find another group to take care of your pet like these folks. Dr. Marilyn and "Aunt Sarah" are part of our extended family! All medications are reasonable and some are a better deal than the "on-line" options. I've never bought any medications that were close to their expiration date like some co-workers have at the other Vet in Dunn.

I did not enjoy my experience with Dunn Animal at all. They were very rude there, and treat all of the animal owners as if they are uneducated. Not a family vet.

The work that they do here is phenominal to try and find good homes for animals that have been abandoned or just need a new place to live due to cirucmstance. They are always polite and kind. Animals are loved there!
