June 4, 2014.I have been involved with 3 management companies in 3 different states and Hawthorne management co. Is the best I have been involved in. The other 2 companies I was involved had boards that usually got back to you in a month

If I could rate them zero stars I would, the management co. does not follow-up with you and are idiotic. Useless is the best word to describe them.

That about sums it up!!! Ask them to call you and they wont. Ask them a question and they have to get back to you becuase they don't have an answer and must gety permission to answer questions. I can't see how this company prospers, maybe it doesn't. Even Micheal Moore could run a better business.

I had similar problem as Montana on this site. A nightmare. HMC no help at all. All the years of paying thier contract fee was a complete waste and scam. When I finally needed their assistance, they were worse than useless.

In dealing with them, they are just the worst around. The whole crew does not know what they are doing. The whole crew needs re-training. Invest so little into staff and communities. The worst.

I read other reviews that this is an all whites only company and discrimates for employment and customers that are not white. I am a customer and agree with this person 100%. I saw the picture and every employee (some 50) are all white. This company does not even state and affirmative action policy. I know our community is cheated by them and they probably offer the 'right neighborhoods' better service. We have lousy person handling our neighborhood that is useless.

You read this and think they are a seasoned team of immaculate experts. Here is the reality. HMC is made up of a team of inexperienced rank amateurs. Look at this example of veteran Sam Hick??s along with the owner Joey Aiken. The N.C. Legislature meets in 2010 to discuss new laws regarding HOAs with HMCs direct involvement in the discussion phase. Two employees were sent to this legal forum as stated in their Inaugural Newsletter. You can??t even predict whets brewing in your own profession. Impersonal, too big, treats residents like 2nd class citizens as compared to Board Member??s. I called repeatedly and they never acknowledge my calls, hang up, put me on hold until I hang up and never ever return my calls. Extremely rude and stuck up people.!!!! All us customers are just cash registers?? for them. I work in retails and if I did business the way they did I would e fired or out of business.

Last year HMC lost my $150 dues and mailed late letters to a wrong address and tried to foreclose on my house. I was forced to pay a $2000 legal bill. I again updated my address this year and they are still mailing me to an erroneous address. Both Ms. Jones and Benkovich of Hawthorne mailed me in error again. The President and Owner Mr. Aiken and Mr. Hicks will willfully post fake wonderful reviews on this site and even went to my review and posted disgusting and derogatory comments. They also verifiably lie and deceive in their response to my BBB Complaint. One employee was recently fired for providing customer account information to outside parties. I have done a thorough 50-State criminal check on their current employees and one individual has a criminal record. This information was provided to my Board President Mr. Williams and Marsh who turned a blind eye.

Our community has been actively looking for a new management company this year. We did speak to someone from Hawthorne but from our research they seem to be the worst ranked in the area by consumers. And yes we looked at the BBB Report and they do have a much higher complaint number than all others in area.

There is Hawthorne Managements Sam Hicks on the front lines standing firm against a bill that would protect home-owners. Why Sam? Look at all the numerous complaints about your company all over the internet and you are leading the charges against protecting individual??s rights. You say it will cost HOA??s more if HS 165 is adopted. No Sam, the only thing that will cost home-owners more is when you raise your fees, not the adoption of this Bill. You raising your fees is your choose. Hawthorne is already the most expensive firm in the area. I called around and got quotes from several. Hawthorne is from 20% to 38% higher than the others I called. Hawthorne Management taking your Associations Fees and providing you with a lousy reputation, most expensive firm in area and fighting hard against home-owners rights.

The do-nothing Condo Assocation Management Company of Metro Charlotte-area. We pay them tons of cash to manage our condo assocation. They are completely useless except when it comes to their fees, the our association fees, their management fees. Go up and up and up even in a lousy economy. They provide less and less services and don't even provide what is in the contract. All people working for them take the laziest and easiest route to completing a task and cut corners whenever possible.

HMC has been my HOA since 2000. This year an employee of HMC provided someone my confidential personal and financial information over the phone without even knowing the callers identity. The HMC employee provided my alternate address to someone and even allowed this individual to up-date my current address ? all unknown to me. My alternate address is no one else?s business and they had no right to do this. What kind of company is going to allow some unknown caller to update a customer?s address without any kind of procedure in place to protect a customer of 12-plus years?

HMC may have been in business for 20+ years but they still are utterly incompetent. As of today, I have never even received an apology from this company about releasing my information which is supposed to be protected.

They spend more time on sending out letters (via their fake walk through) than they spend on getting things done. They are also very prejudice...they continue to refer to the young black boys in the neighborhood as thugs...and encourage neighbors to watch them because they feel as if these children are breaking into homes (this is encourage the police to stop and search these young men). I feel that they need to spend more time watching the myth-heads in the back of the neighborhood and in the nature trail. Its time for our community to get together to find a new HOA because this one isn't a good fit. The last meeting I attend felt like I was meeting with a lynch mob.

In my five years dealing with Hawthorne my feeling is they are useless. I can never speak with our assigned person and leave messages. They never call back.

None of us knew this but when going over the financial records we saw a large charge to our Association. We questioned HMC and they said they add a 5% surcharge on top of vendor invoices. Come on. We are paying them to MANAGE our place and have to pay a 5% surcharge when they sent someone to do customary work. Do they really even obtain multiple bids and select the lowest. They are getting 5%. Might as well get 5% of $5,000 than 5% of $2000.

Look elsewhere because reputation in this business means a lot and they don't have one. Look around. Google their name!

My wife owns a house managed by Hawthorne Management Company. The deed is only in her name. She is the Lot-owner of Record with HMC. She is the only contact individual at HMC. I called HMC and they provided me with all of her account information including an alternate address and confidential and private financial information in violation of HMC Fiduciary Duty.

HMC Legal Liaison staff-member provided me with legal advice over out 15 minute conversation and she is not a lawyer and should have known better as she has been in this administrative position as Legal Liaison with HMC for over six-years. I complained to the Better Business Bureau this week and off course they deny my complaint. HMC states, ?Members of our staff routinely interact with the homeowners about amounts owed to the association and try to assist where we can, but certainly do not represent ourselves as legal professionals providing legal advice. If an association has hired an attorney to assist with the collection of amounts owed, Hawthorne Management Company provides that information to the owner in written notices and must refer any calls or correspondence to that attorney once the matter has been referred to them.

Yet, in my case this is not what they did. The staff-member and I (a Non-Lot Owner) discussed another person?s account for 15-minutes according to my phone records. HMC?s Legal Liaison spoke to me, a male, for 15 minutes assuming but not asking that this deep mono-tuned and clearly male voice is Zarina a female name and the only Lot-owner of Record. She never questioned this fact and fed me any information I desired. Suppose I was a stalker, this HMC employee provided the alternate address on this client to a 3rd party. Very sloppy and negligent work on HMC's Legal Liaisons behalf!

HMC is all about creating a false fa?ade of perfection and deny any wrongdoing just as I have quoted them above with the BBB. They know nothing. Look over the Internet; you will see countless complaints about them.

She said she would look into and 'taken care of' our tax issue. She did not and her negligent act cost the community dearly. Hawthorne assigned a new Rep to the Community. Joe Aiken, owner of Hawthorne, whose company compounded the problem and compromised the HOA simply offered to write a letter to the Char-Meck Tax Collector. We were told a letter would not help. The Board voted Hawthorne should have to pay the financial damage caused by Hawthorne's negligence. Hawthorne did not respond. A proposal was obtained from another local Association Management Company. Glad we got rid of HMC. Much better off!!! Happier with the new company as Hawthorne always did a lousy job and never put in any time or effort into the wonderful community. Would not recommend Hawthorne Management Company to any community!!! They seem to only care about money for themselves and nothing of the communities.

I looked at the Corporate picture too and would have to agree it is de facto institutional racism. I would assume they are racially profiliong job applicants and discrimating against minorities. Someone should complain to the government. Sad you have this kind of thing happing today. I guess this is the good old boy South bigotry and racism in Charlotte, NC.
