Great food and great service. Reasonable prices. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal at a fair price when in Banner Elk.

We ate here three times during our weekend in the mountains! Each time we had a delicious meal at a reasonable price. The place did get crowded at dinner time, and one night when our little one was uncooperative the waitstaff was wonderful about helping to quickly deliver our meal and package it to-go. A definite stop when you're in the area.

Recently I was up in Banner Elk with my family and ate at cafe several times.
The atmoshere someway seemed more relaxed and controlled by the staff on duty.
The food was wonderful each time and prompt coming out of the kitchen.
We were asking about some of the new faces since we were up in the fall. Our waitress was very polite, witty and my dad fell in love with her southern err about her.
If not mistaken Lesa was name she gave when we were seated.
She was very busy t times with other customers, and helping some of the girls out with questions we noticed but she always took time to check on our family. The only disturbing episode was when some man was yelling foodrunners from kitchen, yelling register as we walked up.That was disrespectful to us and our waitress.
Sincerely, Megan

Pros: waitress we had was awesome and caring.took time with our table

Cons: Need to talk to gentleman that screams out from kitchen and at register to his help rushing them and disrespecting them as well

My mom loves this place for breakfast. Good food, good service and convenient. Located in the heart of Banner Elk in a modest storefront. Gets crowded quickly.

I truly found the employees to be among the most rood I've ever know. So much in fact, I signed up on city search just so I could warn others. I brought a large group to eat in the restaurant and I felt as though I annoyed them for bringing twenty paying customers - truly bizarre.
As for quality, the food was good, until a member of our group found several (3-4) hairs in their fries.
The manager, Robin Boone, was dismissive and unapologetic.

Pros: good location in town

Cons: management

Worked there for over a year. Has very bad management problems. Would not recommend any one to work there nor eat there. Service stinks and the last time I was in there, no one seemed to care to acknowledge me. ZUZDA is the place to be in Banner Elk. It is great Tapas food and you will definatly have the greatest experience.

Stopped for breakfast. Told that hash browns were n/a, and no substitute. Okay, so it's grits! She offered extra toast if grits weren't acceptable. The breakfast was typical. They stop serving breakfast at 10:30am, if you're late, plan on lunch!

Tried dinner - place was a mess. Dirty tables (seat yourself), and no one moving to bus them. We sat between the Cafe and the Lodge, which share space. Unfortunatly, we had an inexperienced server. I ordered a cup of coffee, was handed an empty cup, and told to use the carafes inside. So I did - lukewarm - yuck. We ordered from the two different menus. Hubby asked for soup and never got it. I received my meal 10 minutes before anyone else. We were overcharged on 2 meals because of a 'new system', and had to wait 10 minutes for the correction.
