Great seafood and a great view. Try the lemon pie it is the absolute best anywhere. Try their shrimp alfredo or the broiled flounder stuffed with crabmeat. We had the crab legs and there were really good.

We spent the night on a recent trip up the intercoastal waterway. They do not charge for dockage, but asked us to eat with them if we ate out. We had dinner there and their seafood was the best we have had this trip. We had the shore

This place is an classic North Carolina seafood restaurant. The fried seafood is just lightly dusted so it is not just a hunk of breading. I had the fried shrimp and scallops and they were wonderful. We also had crab legs and they were

Horrible, horrible, horrible food. Did I mention horrible? This is my very first review of a restaurant but I felt that the public needed to know our experience. First, we waited at least ten minutes to be seated in what was pretty much a vacant restaurant. The sweet waitress who took pity on us once we were seated made the comment that ??no one assigned us a number so she decided to wait on us so we didn??t just have to sit there!? I can??t say enough marvelous things about the waitress and the owner was very friendly and chatty when he stopped by the table. But the food was completely inedible. We had to ask for hushpuppies to be brought to the table and while I read a few other reviews who said they were ??superb?, I would have to disagree. They weren??t seasoned very well and were very greasy. Roughly ten minutes after ordering, the waitress came to the table to let us know that they were out of the scallops we ordered as part of our combination dinners. Having ordered the shrimp and scallops panned in butter combination dinner, I was offered crabmeat as a replacement. While disappointed, I had no problem in the substitution (I understand that things happen that are beyond an establishment's control). Once our dinner arrived, the baked potatoes that were part of the meal were stone cold. They were sent back to the kitchen and evidently microwaved a little too long because then they were hot, but hard as rocks! At this point, we just gave up on the potatoes. My companion diner ordered the fried shrimp, fish of the day, and scallop combination dinner. She was not able to have the scallops either and, instead, asked for the crabcake. According to her, it was not at all like the other crabcakes she has eaten. This one was so spiced with black pepper that it made her cough when she tried to eat it. As for me, the panned shrimp were just ??okay".....nothing to write home about. The homemade tartar sauce was excellent, though, and when used generously with the shrimp it definitely improved their flavor. It took roughly two bites of the crabmeat for me to realize that it was "off". I had my companion take a bite as well just to be sure it wasn??t just my tastebuds that night, and she had to run immediately to the restroom. The crab was bad. When the waitress came back to the table I told her that the crab was "off" in a lowered voice so as not to alert fellow diners. She looked a bit embarrassed and took the plate away, smelled the crabmeat, and quickly agreed that the crab was bad. I could see that she told the owner who looked as though he just shook his head in the general direction of the kitchen as if to say ??oh goodness, I can??t believe they served that!?. My expectations at this point were simply for price of the two seafood combination dinner that I ordered to be lowered to a single panned shrimp dinner price. Not so. It was tallied at the register at full price. At Capt. Bills, you take your receipt to the front of the house and pay for it there. The elderly lady who was running the register was the rudest restaurant owner I have yet to encounter! She asked how our meal was and I simply said ??Well, we had a problem. The crab was "off" ". She responded by saying, very snidely might I add, that she ??tasted the crab and it was perfectly fine! It was seasoned with garlic and that was the taste I was mistaking for "off" crab. Their crab was nothing but fresh!? Now I have had crabmeat before a few times in my life, to say the least. And I have had garlic a few time in my life, to say the least. And I know bad seafood when I??ve tasted it. If the crabmeat wasn??t bad, then certainly the garlic was! Something in that dish was past its expiration date regardless of what this lady said! Still, I was charged full price for the dinner so for a grand total of $54.33 (plus a $9 tip) we ate a very bad meal at a very poorly run establishment. You can view The Sanitary from Capt Bill??s and my suggestion is that although The Sanitary has gotten a bad rap in the past ten years or so, I??d rather waste my money at a place with so-so seafood that won??t make you violently ill.

The last time we ate here I was disappointed. The food was just okay. We'd have been better off at the neighboring restaurant, Sanitary Fish Market. Prices are reasonable for what you get, but the food is hit or miss. We've had both good and just okay experiences in the past, too.

Have gone to this restaurant since I was a child. It was sad when it burned, but so thrilled when they re-built and re-opened. Some of the best seafood around. Been established for years on the waterfront. Good seafood cooks how you'd like it. Good staff.

This nasty place that had paint chips on the tables and nails sticking out of the walls. Food was all over the floor.

I didn't immediately turn around because my friend, who I was with, believed that she had been there a while back and the food was reasonable and good.

As the table next to us left, they informed us that we shouldnt be afraid to complain. There had been several complaints regarding the food already. Unfortunately, we had already ordered.

The crab meet salad was a lump of cold, dry crab meat on a piece of lettuce. The fried shrimp and the fried scallops were chewy and greasy. None of the seafood tasted fresh. The crab cakes were also greasy and had a potent tuna-like taste. The NY strip steak was nothing but gristle and fat.

We proceeded to tell what appeared to be the manager/owner the issues we had regarding the quality of the food. She then called over a man who preceded to hostily defend the food. Looking at the strip steak which was cut into chunks of fat, he condescendingly said that NY Strip steak is supposed to have a line of fat in it and if the boy didnt want it, he shouldnt have ordered it. He ignored the concerns regarding the fried food items and said that the crab cakes were made fresh daily with lump crab meat.

It cost $88 for two adults and three children for food that we did not eat, except for a few potatoes, a childs salad consisting of one piece of lettuce and a small slice of tomato, and a couple of French fries.

I assume the people who were extremely rude and condescending to us were the owners of this family run business. These people should not be in the restaurant business. Not to mention that this place should be shut down for so many reasons.
