I have used Sam Pearson for my animals ever since I was old enough to have animals. He has always been extremely professional and compassionate. I had the unfortunate experience of having several of my animals put down due to illness over the years and his office always sent a condolence card to me and that says volumes. They are always willing to work with you if you let them know in ample time and do a great job. Kudos to Dr. Pearson.

I have been a patron of Morganton Animal Clinic for 30 years. They have never been less than professional, courteous and caring in the treatment of the numerous animals I have head that they have cared for. My father was a veterinarian. Drs. Hemstreet and Pearson cared for his animals after he no longer had an office. They have now been joined in practice by a third vet - Dr. Wendy Callahan. She appears to share in their level of competence and concern. I feel absolutely secure in having any of these fine doctors care for any of my pets. In answer to the prior 1 star review there is a sign prominently displayed at their practice that full payment is expected at the time of service. I can not answer any of the other reviewers complaint, but have my doubts about any animal left in their care being "held hostage."

My first experience with Morganton Animal Clinic years ago was great. They were so considerate and took such great care of my cats so I did not hesitate to go back. HOWEVER, I called to make an appointment for a minor procedure several days ago and asked at that time what the fee would be. The receptionist told me she couldn't tell me - you would think she'd know what a rabies shot cost at the very least. Upon arriving for the appointment, I informed the vet that I could only pay part of the bill as the banks were closed that day. Instead of telling me that they would not take a partial payment, they took my cat in for her appointment. I did also mention to him I'd like her ears checked as she had appeared to have some pain the night before. When I called to ask what time to pick her up that evening, I was informed by the extremely rude receptionist that since I could not pay the entire bill, I would have to leave my cat overnight and come in the next money with all the money. (My cat is elderly and has never been away from home ovenight and was being held HOSTAGE.) I told her what I had told the vet about the payment arrangements and also if I had known I had to leave her overnight to ensure the bill was paid, I would not have left her but instead would have waited until the next day to bring her in. When I did pick her up the next morning, I didn't see any mention on the bill of checking her ears which I had specifically asked for. She told me that he didn't check but would do that then. At that time, they only cleaned her ears. BOTTOM LINE, if you can't pay the total amount when you go to pick your animal up, plan on leaving it there until you can. Apparently they are more concerned about money than the welfare and care of our pets. I'm extremely sorry to see that a once fine clinic has "gone to the dogs".

Drs. Hemstreet and Pearson offer quality veternary care. They take a real interest in their patients and their owners. Dr. Hemstreet is often available on short notice if your pet has an emergency. They make sure you fully understand treatment options and give you great confidence in taking your pet to see this practic.
