I can fully understand pricing your food per it's quality. For instance, if the food is spectacular and the service is great, I am perfectly happy to pay more. What I cannot fathom is how the owner of this bakery has managed to be anywhere near successful? Nancy Revzen (owner) is all of the following:

1. Racist

2. Completely lacking in any customer service skills

3. Publically demeans her employees

4. Repeatedly boasts about herself at inappropriate moments.

5. Lacks phone etiquette. (No, really. She hung up on me)

6. Happily refers to people from any southern state as stupid.

I would not pay $4 per item to deal with a business owner who completely lacks the ability and understanding on how to run a business that is completely based in customer service.

I worked at Ollie's briefly. The owner was one of the rudest women I have ever met. She speaks to her employees in an extremely condescending manner and threatens to not pay them if they quit within two weeks. No wonder they all look miserable. Miserable owner, miserable staff. The only thing that's worth the price is the Lava Cake. For bread, you are FAR better off going to Great Harvest Bread Co.

I have patronized Ollie's bakery before. On this vist, the woman behind the counter carried on a social conversation with the previous customer for almost 5 minutes while I waited to be served.

When she finally made eye contact, she was extremely unhelpful in providing lunch options, although the lunch menu was listed on a blackboard and showed sandwiches.

She then continued a social conversation with another lingering customer...

Although the baked goods are decent, they are overpriced. $3 for a muffin, $4 for a greasy foccacia, and $3 for a small (6 oz) latte are outrageous.

I don't know if the ownership has changed in the last few years, but the bakery seems to be riding on its previous reputation, since the current staff are rude and unhelpful.

More reasonably priced and equally tasty baked goods can be found at "non-European" bakeries around town.

I won't be back.

I was looking forward to trying this bakery; my expectations were too high! The impolite person (male) who begrudgingly took my order not only acted like he didn't want to be there but argued with me about my espresso drink. I ordered a dry-cappuccino with 2 shots of espresso. I know this place is suppose to be a bakery but if you offer espresso drinks you really should train a person on how to make drinks. Not only was it NOT dry (it barely had any foam in it), the milk was steamed way too hot. I asked him to make it over or have someone else do it and that's when the arguing began. He tried to tell me I wanted an Americano. After telling him nicely what an Americano was, he kept arguing with me until I said, "just give me my money back". He actually seem very happy to do so. Then he smirked and said, "there you go, have a good day"! As I was leaving, a lady sitting down told me he was very rude to her as well. Tell your family and friends....DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! ps...the pastries aren't that good. He threw my fruit tart in a paper tray and then in a bag. I took a picture of it, it looked like the inside of a barf bag.

Pros: Now I know not to go back...

Cons: Worst customer service ever!

The atmosphere and customer service at Ollie's Bakery has gone down hill since the original owner sold the place a little while back. Most of the "regular" staff has since left and the new owner never smiles at the customers. We will not be going back.

Ollie's Bakery is two and a half blocks from my office. They're a French-style bakery and their goods are to die for. They make breads and have sandwiches for lunch, as well as foccacia. In the morning, you can't go wrong with a muffin, scone, almond brioche toast, sticky bun, cream cheese brioche, or anything else they have. They also have an assortment of coffees and other beverages. In the afternoon they're selection expands to an array of tasty treats you normally won't find in the area. They do carry regular fare like brownies and huge chocolate chip cookies, but also have cakes, pastries, tarts, rugelach, bread pudding, honey walnut fig bars... you just never know what delectable delights you'll find. They're chocolate cake and cupcakes are to die for. The staff are always courteous and Connie will remember your name and what you like to order. Gordon, the owner, is a delightful gentleman, and is always up for a convo. The location is aesthetically pleasing, and you gotta love a place named in honor of a super doggie.

Pros: everything

Cons: closed on Mondays (when I get a bad craving for their sweets)
