My kids wanted me to take them at North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. I thought it would be boring but I was wrong, our entire family enjoyed the trip.

After living here for about three years, I decided to take the kids to the museum. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! It doesnt compare to museums in DC, but it was full of information and alot of hands on things for the kids to do! The kids loved it! We will definately be making another trip in a few months with the kids

PROS: Good exhibits, hands on for kids
CONS:

This is a great place to spend the day with family! Enjoy the dinosaur collection, the insect zoo, have lunch at the Acro cafe! My children have enjoyed the summer camps and special trips and they have very nice birthday parties!

This museum makes learning so much fun. There are wonderful exhibits on each floor and tons of hands on things for kids (and adults) to do. The children's play/discovery area is amazing. My 6 year old could spend an entire afternoon in just this area. They have animal costumes for dress up, microscopes, a live/working bee hive, and usually a slithery animal of some sort for the kids to see/touch. Fun place!!!!

The Museum of Natural Sciences is a great way to spend a summer day in Raleigh. There is no admission charge, which is nice. There are plenty of exhibits to see, so you can go back a few times and not get bored of it. Kids tend to get bored at museums, however there are fun things for kids to do here too! I give it a thumbs up!

The kids we took to this museum loved it! It has all kinds of insects and animals for them to look at. You do have to pay for parking although it was not much. Take your lunch as the cafeteria can be expensive. There is an escalator to take upstairs for more fun!

I made my first visit to this museum. I was so impressed! I couldn't believe that it was free. We feel so fortunate to live inthis area and have such wonderful museums available like this. Check out the naturalist lab. A great opportunity for hands on learning. Great fun and educational for all members of the family!

This museum has four floors, with so much to do on each floor that we could stay for a day each! The fun is just walking around and enjoying learning about N.C. areas- the coast, piedmont, and mountains. Sharks hang from the ceiling , dinosaurs prowl, and racoons peek from behind trees. Try to make time for a class, too- the volunteers and museum employees are great!

NC should really invest more money into this museum. Its free to the public, which is great...you can learn a great deal from some of the displays and see a few live animals. A lot of the set ups however are OBVIOUSLY fake (trees, waterfalls etc). The museum has the potential to be fantastic...but falls a little short.

They museum has god hands on activity birthday parties for kids, and is located in a great location downtown
