Horrible experience. Called them to see if my compressor was under warranty and the secretary said it was. So we allowed them to go out to examine. It then turns out it is not under warranty and it is going to be $1,300. They now wish to bill me for there visit due to there secretary's mistake and the fact that we are not hiring them for the job. In addition, we had them replace this same part 15 and 13 months ago. The first time they installed a faulty compressor that lasted 2 months. This one has lasted 13 months. Either Copeland makes alot of bad compressors or these guys do not know how to correctly install them. If this is not bad enough the customer service is horrific. The response I received from them was,"haven't you ever made a mistake?" Even after admitting there own mistake the still insisted on billing me. I certainly wish I could have other people pay for my mistakes. Unfortunelty, this is not the first time I have had issues with this company. We own a property management company and have had them do many jobs which all pretty much have the same theme. It truly is a sad state of things and it all started when Mr. Lewis let his son take over the business.

My wife and I built a new home in Rocky Point, NC. Lewis & Son Heating and Ac installed the HVAC system according to our contractor. I wanted a really nice system so we purchased a Trane Unit. We had been in the house for less than one year when the AC went out. We called our contractor who gave us the name of the subcontractor he used (Lewis & Son Heating Ac). I called and they had someone out within 24 hours. So far so good. We were told that we had a bad "pan float switch." If the water line backs up this switch tells the unit to cut off so that the water will not overflow the pan and leak through the ceiling. The guy that came out told me that the line was clean and that the switch was bad. He said he "wired it" to bypass the switch so that we could use the unit until they could replace the switch. He then left and 10 mintues after he left the unit cut off. It remained off Friday and through the weekend. It was in the high 90's and I had to go to Family Dollar to purchase fans for the bedrooms it was so hot. On Monday they came out and installed the switch and got it working again. They sent me a bill for their labor and for the pan float switch. I didn't pay it because I had jsut purchased a brand new Trane Unit and had been in the house for less than a year. I thought that I should at least get one year without having to pay. Now, we are 15 months into our new home and I think the zone control board has gone out. I asked the contractor to find out from Lewis and Son where they purchased the control board because I know that there is a five year warranty on the control board. But, so far, no word from the contractor. He says he has called them. That was 6 days ago, I paid more to get a nice Trane Unit and, so far, in 15 months two problems.

Lewis and Son is a great, local, family-owned business and they have provided excellent service when we have needed them. On two seperate occasions we've had to call for A/C repairs - both times they showed up on time and took care of the problem immediately. Rates are reasonable too.

I love Lewis and Sons. Impecible service! They came out several times to assess different problems and I was never even charged. And when I did incur charges they were more than reasonable. I will be a life long customer of Mr. Lewis'.

I had a fire in my home 4/2/05 and my demolition company, A&I (avoid...whole other story), hired L&S to replace our vent work and install a new air handler in our attic. It was the middle of summer and it was very hot during our reconstruction. They were very hard to get ahold of and to come finish the work they started. After our final for the HVAC system we had the power turned on and the A/C was more like a heater. After many attempt to charge or add freon I had to call another company. My hardwoods we bowing from heat and humidity. Apparently when the new air handler was installed a freon leak had occured and we were leaking freon the whole time. Not to mention the trash and spare parts they hid under the handler. Then they checked the thermostat and found the problem. The thermostat should have never been installed in my home and was also installed incorrectly. So that was an extra $500 to someone else. Now here's the kicker. They owe me $795 from an overpaid situation because they did not communicate the bill to me properly. Now I get the opportunity of learning about small claims court.
AVOID lewis and sons like the plague!!!

My family had the most negative experience with Lewis & Sons. We trusted this company for years whenever our ac system went down which typically happened once a year every year. After years of using them for service they told us that the unit was bad and needed replacing. They charged us thousands for a new unit and even after the new unit was installed the air conditioning in the house worked terribly. The temperature in the house always remained around 80 to 85 degrees no matter what time of the day. They were called out again to look at the problem...and found nothing. The monthly bills for Electric were running around $500 for a 2400 square foot home that typically had only run at the highest $250. Finally we decided we should call in another company to see what the problem was. The other company came in and said the thermostat that had been installed was not working properly and our air conditioning was on all the time which would explain the large electric bills. Not to mention they had tripped something so that heat was coming on in the attic all the time. Its no wonder the air conditioning was on all the time because the heat was running all the time. THe thermostat they had installed was used yet we had been charged for a new thermostat. Why wasn't Lewis & Sons checking the thermostat when they came out numerous times? After a new thermostat was installed our bill came down hundreds of dollars. This other company also found that Lewis & Sons had left all the trash, etc from installed the new unit in our attic and had not bothered to get rid of any of it. I will never use them again. After repeated phone calls and letters concerning the numerous bills we received and shotty service they have not even bothered to apologize or to make amends for this terrible service.
