I also had a bad renting experience with the Nichols and I??m sorry to say I honestly don??t have anything good/nice to say about these people. When we moved in it was obvious the place had not been cleaned prior to our arrival - the floors were filthy (walking around barefoot all day turned our feet completely black). There are noticeable deep cracks between all the wooden boards, the place is not well insulated or sound-proof as Jeff had told us. The road was never plowed as promised and the pot hole that??s gotten increasingly worse over the years he has never bothered to have filled. This caused problems when it snowed as some of us were unable to get up the road. We were never given a check-sheet when we first moved in which I found a bit scary (how do you report damages you don??t want to be charged for?) and when I called to ask about it he proceeded to yell at me for a good ten minutes and said ??never to call him again unless it was an absolute emergency!? all the while never allowing me to say a word. Jeff also told us (as he told the fellow below): "Do you know how many times we have taken tenants to court?" "Hundreds! Do you know how many times we lost?! Never!" All interactions I had with him reflected poorly on his character. His bad temper caused my roommates to fear calling about concerns&complaints (such as a broken appliances). Also, getting in touch with Trisha is extremely difficult. You call, leave messages and she hardly answers or calls you back + half the time the call goes to the fax machine. We had a bad mouse problem and were told there was nothing that could be done about it. We always heard them scurrying around (they were in the attic, all the walls, etc.) and caught at least 12 in the course of 1.5 months. They chewed on clothes, left poop on every surface and the floor as well. He later put out an open bag of rat poison but misinformed us about how to use the product so all the mice did was take it and store it in various places around the cabin. The lease really does have them covered from every angle and utilities are NOT mentioned at all in the lease agreement. Internet connection is slow. Jeff and Trisha Nichols truly are the most angry, bitter people I have ever met. They don??t care about their tenants, all they want is your money. Recommendations: stay away! You do not want to rent from Jeff Nichols Properties.
