The movie was good however the picture was distorted near bottom of the frame. Seating very good and pricing good.I would recommend the theater. Need to fix picture issue.

Carmike was great when it opened. But it has REALLY gone down hill. We are regular movie goers at our house (at least weekly) and I have to say that even BEFORE the new theater we cut way back on Carmike. First of all, if your movie is shown in a theater to the right side, it stinks like mold and mildew. Furthermore, the movies are messed up in some way 9 out of 10 times (ie. start 10 to 30 minutes late; don't show at all; are defective, etc). I have complained to Carmike's main office more times than I care to count and have never so much as got an email back. Do yourself a favor, for the SAME price go right around the corner to the much BETTER and new theater!

I moved to Greenville from a much larger urban area on the west coast. I thought that the city I came from was operating in the dark ages because there were only two theaters in the entire metropolitan area. After waiting for many years, someone finaly decided to build the theaters to meet the demands. When I left there, three new mega-theaters had been built and two more were in the planning stage. ALL theaters in ALL complexes had stadium seating. I have become spoiled by the theaters that were built back home and my expectations of a theater have been raised. The first couple of films I saw at Carmike were in theaters with the stadium seating so imagine my surprise and disappointment when I walked into one of the theaters with the "regular" seating. I have since decided that I will only go to the Carmike theater in Greenville when it is absolutely necessary since you never know if the film you want to see is going to be in a "good" theater. It may sound nitpicky, but if I have to pay the prices they charge for going to a theater I want to see the film in comfort without having to dodge around someone elses head to see the screen. Seems to me that if they were going to spend the money to build a theater they would have spent the little extra to make ALL of the theaters equally comfortable. I'd rather drive for an hour to go to an area where you don't have to base the decision of what movie to see on which theater it's playing in. If Carmike is so concerned about making money someone should have told them that it costs money to make money. What is needed in this area is a little competition for Carmike. Since this market appears to be a monopoly for the theater industry we get what they decide to give us. Because of this type of service on the part of Carmike, they have lost the majority of my business.

The Carmike 12 is the only theater in town. About five years ago, there were two others, smaller and older buildings. But these were owned by the same person that owns Carmike 12, who shut them down.
The theater rarely, if ever, shows a film that is not absolutely mainstream. For example, the critically acclaimed "The Squid and the Whale" by Noah Baumbach-- not playing here. I've got to wait until it comes out on video/DVD and get it at East Coast Video.
And the theater rarely has kids movies running. Today's listing for the Wallace and Grommit film surprised me, but on second thought, shouldn't, since it is a guaranteed money-maker.
What I'd like to see from this theater: a once a week art film, widely advertised, to try to draw impressionable younger viewers. A once a week kids film on Saturdays or Sundays, doesn't have to be a current film-- something like Dumbo or Tarzan or Chicken Run. Whatever-- just something to give parents one more option for their kids on a the weekends. One showing once a week-- I doubt they'd lose money on that.
And lastly, civic responsibility. As a part of this community, it would be nice to see some proceeds used occasionally for good civic works.

PROS: clean, spacious
CONS: politically void; unadventurous; mainstream

overall this is a good theater. the statium seating is perfect if your lucky enough to get it. some of the theaters just have regular seating so you can't see as well. there are several snack bars located aroung the theater but I've only ever seen one opened no matter how long the lines. the prices are high.

Because this is the only movie theater in town, they do not cater to anyone. They are not willing to donate to local charities or fundraising efforts, nor are they willing to start any programs for moms and kids to watch kid-friendly movies like other chains have.

Carmike 12 is a really cool movie theater. They have stadium seating and regular seating. They feature the dolby and thx systems. This theater is one of our newest and biggest theater. We had around 3 smaller movie theaters but they all shut down and this one came about. Even though the other theaters may have had some sentimental value such as my ,now, husband and I meeting each other and going for our first date together but that is for our memories now. This theater allows for us to make more memories together with our daughter now. It also has a game room and a concession stand. They sell snacks such as popcorn, soda, nachos with cheese, candy, etc. It is really good too. There are plenty of bathrooms all over because this is a big theater. I especially like the stadium seating. Stadium seating is much more roomy and allows for a better movie experience. Regular seating is a little small to me. We recently went to see Star Wars Revenge of the Sith here. They had some people to come in dressed as some of the characters and you could take pictures. We had a great time. Now go and check out a movie!

When I first moved to Greenville, the Carmike had been built very recently (late 90s). After all this time, the only time I ever saw it in bad shape was this summer when one of the bathrooms was in bad shape that night. But other than that one incident it has been kept fairly well. I have no idea what the previous person is saying when they claim that "movie times are yelled out by staff members". I don't think I've ever witnessed that happening. Actually, a computerized screen/bulletin board on both sides of the lobby shows the movie /seating start times. If there have been incidents when movie start times have had to be verbally announced, it is probably because of idiots who do not know how to read the information being broadcast right in front of them. That is sad, but typically southern. Thank God I'm outtie!

Pros: film/theatre variety

.

This is the only theater in Greenville, so there is not much choice. The Carmike staff and management is so bad. They control the movie times by yelling out when they are seating. You can pay for your tickets by Debit/Credit card, but there is like a 2.00 charge for doing this. The Staff is very young and does not seem to care what is going on with the customers. The theaters smell like a wet towel that has been seating in your closet for about 3 months. I wish we had a different choice but we don't. If you can wait for the next city or go to Blockbuster.
