We have been taking all of our dogs there for years. We love them and they are amazing. The vets are the best and the front desk staff are so sweet to both us and our doggies.
The prices are a bit high compared to a couple of other local vets, but I think that is because they go the extra mile and are very thorough with regard to exams and care.

As far as the negative review- the form you fill out for boarding states clearly (and you must initial) that you will be charged extra for heart worm tests if your pets are not on a monthly preventative so obviously her dogs weren't on a heartworm preventative which is why they did the tests (that is really irresponsible). Further, you do not "pay extra for love", you have the option to pay extra for extra walks (they go out in the yard, but get only so many walks, we always pay for an extra) and for brushing or extra one on one play time with a tech (my dogs don't care about that so we don't get it). All of this is clearly spelled out on the form that you sign when you drop the dog off with the prices clearly stated so the bill should not be a surprise. The daily rate is also stated and when we take our babies there they give us an estimate of the costs so we know what to expect. I have no idea what on earth that other lady was talking about but for 1 week for 3 dogs and heartworm testing for 1100, is actually really cheap! I haven't seen any boarders that will take dogs for less than that in the area that actually take care of your dogs (and don't just lock them in a pen outside- we experienced that once and both me and my dog are scarred for life over it!!!)

Personally, I wouldn't take my doggies anywhere else. They take pics of them and give a daily progress report on them. My dogs actually even like checking into the hotel.

BEWARE!!!! Any place that charges "Extra" for love should be questioned. They were Very VERY rude to me.because I asked for a detailed bill because they over charged me in a BIG way. $1107 for a week boarding and 3 exams for heartworms for 3 dogs. It was highway robbery and the "hidden costs" were never disclosed. At that point though, they have you, if you want your pets back, you have to pay and it felt a lot like dognapping!
***Add to that, when my dogs were returned, one smelled like a homeless person (Like she had been stewing in filth) I wrote to them and they ignored me they could honestly have cared less, so I wrote to the Raleigh BBB and they fought that but the fact STILL exists that my dog smelled to high heaven. I asked for a skin test on my dog, the test results took 5 calls and e-mails and over a month to get the results and even then, I got "technical" results with no explanations. I would HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere for both boarding *There is an EXCELLENT kennel down the street (log cabin kennel, thank GOD I found them!) ** and definitely for vet care. They are supposed to care for animals, but when they don't care enough to let you know if your dog has cancer or not... well.. you decide if your pet is worth that or not... Mine is worth WAY more! I gladly pay for the care of my pets, but I expect them to get good care and I expect to be billed correctly, so all in all this was a HUGE FAIL!!!!!

Get an office manager who is on top of things and not so rude if you DARE to challenge the amount of the bill (which is WAY overpriced and usually incorrect) also, send dogs back home looking and smelling like they were not sitting in

The beautiful ladies, Kate and her assistant came to take care of my wild boy, Elmo the great cat, who put up a fight to avoid his check-up, but the ladies got the better of him after a minor struggle. Thanks again for making the house call, I am so grateful to have the assurance of Elmo being ok, and getting the care he needs. Kate, you are a 5 star +, you ladies did a wonderful job!! I can only recommend you and your clinic to every one, the best clinic for animals I ever encountered in my 73 years. Thank You!!!! Oh yea, Elmo is his old self, just fine!

I have been taking my animals here for years.

Pros: The vets & techs are very friendly. There receptionist staff are very friendly as well.

Cons: Im in agreement with other posters that their fees are excessive.

Our dog had a chest xray, blood work-up, and heartworm test & the total was 320.00. That did not include medication for his virus or heartworm prevention. That seemed high to me!

At times Ive had to ask for certain diagnostic tests be done instead of the vet offering them as part of the treatment plan?

They are very caring & attentive to your pets needs!

I took a dog here that had had a negative experience at another local vet office. Even without knowing of the negative experience, the care and attention the staff just naturally gave this dog was overwhelming and very reassuring to us both. There is no doubt that customer (and puppy) service is number one at his establishment.

The negative would be their prices, which are very high. My friend recently took her chihuahua there to be spayed and to have it's teeth cleaned and the total bill was almost $800.00!!! That seems excessive to me, especially for such a small dog. However, if you can afford it, the care is excellent!

I have been taking my 5 pets here for about 5 years now. I routinely try to see Dr. Crumley, mainly because I like her care the best. The front office staff (especially Teri) is the top-notch. The office is well kept and appears to be very clean. Cats and dogs remain separated on opposite sides of the building. They do sell prescripton foods, as well as some random pet stuff. I have never seen or used their boarding facilities, so I cannot help much there. The office also keeps up a fenced in agility course that any of their customers can use (just be sure to clean up after you little ones!). I've taken my dogs several times and they LOVED it. Even though only one of my dogs actually used the agility stuff, the other 2 had a great time with the toys we brought. It's a great change of scenery that is safe for them and it's not far to travel to.

My biggest complaint about Heartwood is that the prices are a bit high. I've called around and have found cheaper offices, but I'm reluctant to leave the great care and friendly staff; but, I would have to leave if money was really tight.

We recently rescued two kittens and took them here cause they were able to see us right away. The staff was great. They gave us samples of kitten food to hold us over for a while. The vet pointed out somethings about the kittens that I didn't even know about. Office is very modern and clean. Plenty of grass to walk your animal around on. Prices are about the same of any other place. Close to Hill Ridge Farm.

PROS: Easy in and out
CONS:
