This was my first and last time ever visting Lynnwood Grill. When we first arrived on a Saturday night it was packed. There was hardly any seats at the bar. We ordered a round of drinks while waiting for some seats to open. Once we noticed a group of people leave their seats with no drinks, we took the opportunity and snagged the seats while we could. The bartender said that we could not sit there long b/c those seats were reserved for the people who had just left!! Never have I ever heard of a bar or restaraunt reserving seats for people. The bartender stated that they were out having a cigarette. We blew off the bartender and continued to enjoy our drinks. A few minutes later we had a manager approach us and told us to give up our seats. After wating over 30 minutes for a seat to become available it was now being taken away from us. A paying customer is a paying customer. Needless to say, we will never be back to this establishment for food or drinks due to the piss poor management and "reserving" of seats to people at the bar. This would never fly at any bar in any city, in any state, in the US. It was all I could do to not cause a scene! Overall, typical sports bar w/ tvs but don't expect to find/keep a seat.....unless your a smoker of course!!!
I have been going to LG for many years now, mainly for the fantastic homemade pizza, great wings, great beer and super-friendly service. Other great food items are the Reuben, pizza rolls and fried pickle chips. I have seen some enormous beautiful salads come out - but usually I can't resist the incredible pub fare.
The old location was a neighborhood favorite, and the new location is no different. I was a little hesitant to brave the crowds in the opening days, but I have been 3 times now with little or no waiting whatsoever. It is larger inside than you think.
The new location (just across the street, at the edge of the Lowe's parking lot) has many improvements but has also successfully maintained much of the charm of the previous location.
New: Rooftop area with it's own bar has kind of a "tiki" look and is relaxed and friendly; outdoor Smoker's Patio downstairs has it's own TV's and is a great solution for both those who do and do not smoke; private room which can accomodate parties up to about 50 people.
Best of the old: The menu, the original pizza oven (did I mention I love the homemade pizza), many of the "unique" decorations, most/all of the bartenders, and of course the owner Ted who often stops just to chat and see how things are going with the customers.
The new Lynnwood is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a great meal at a great price, want to catch up on sports & news on all the TVs, listen to great music or see old friends!
Easily the worst restaurant we've been to in years. Out of 4 meals: 2 cool french dip sandwiches; one overcooked 1/4 (supposed to be 1/2 lb, but who are they kidding here?) and a tasteless meatball sandwich (the meatballs were obviously the frozen variety). The french onion soup, at first it was served with the au jus in identical, but different bowls, but it was the same au jus in both bowls! We returned the cold supposedly onion soup and asked for chips, which are supposed to be homemade, but they are overcooked and served room temp), the waitress returned several minutes later with the soup (even though we didn't want it), they had put a piece of white bread and a square of swiss cheese over the bowl and melted it! AND they still charged us for it. It was terrible. The place is also very loud, service was terrible, it took 25 mins. to get our food. I will not return and will not recommend this restaurant (which just moved to a new location, but the food is still bad). I would recommend the Leesville Tap room, which isn't too far away.
Have been there several times. Really liked the food but this curly haired female waitress was such a rude biotch that I will never step foot in there again. Management just kinda stood there and of course tried to make excuses for her actions. Stay away from the curly head biotch as she has MAJOR issues. You won't catch me in there again. Rudeness when you are a paying customer just doesn't get it with me. And by no means take children in there. They have their little click there and others aren't really welcome. You can get wings plenty of places and don't have to deal with people like this rude chick. Would rate the food better but that waitress doesn't even deserve one star. Rudeness gets you NO WHERE!!
Lynnwood Grill is like the quintessential neighborhood pub, except that the food is much better than "bar food." Pizza is good. My favorite thing on the menu is the MBT -- mozzarella, basil, tomato sandwich. Fries are so yummy. But you can also get a side salad. Ingredients all seem very fresh.
Only reason I didn't give Lynnwood 5 stars is that it's pretty smoky sometimes. We have 2 little kids and have to really be careful about the times that we go because I don't want to expose them to smoke. They have a non-smoking eating area, but it is literally about 5 feet away from the bar, which is smoking. ??? Anyway, other than that complaint, I love Lynnwood Grill.
Love the spinach calzones. Substitute pesto sauce for the marinara that they usually put inside and you have the best calzone in Raleigh (the old Lilly's pizza that occupied the place formerly had a spinach and pesto calzone on the menu- that's where we got the idea). The house salad with pecans and everything is very good also. The only downfall is that on very busy nights, the service can be a little slow - there is one particular waiter who tends to be slower than the rest. Otherwise a great place.
I live right up the road and it's a great place to hang out and they have great live music...well, when John Briggs plays, anyway! Food is good, too. Only thing...wait staff is kind of weird. They are busy..I get that....but Omari is always awesome, so you would think the others would be, too.
This restaurant really is doing something right. Every time I go, it doesn't matter what time it is, it is PACKED. The food is great so it definitely keeps me coming back. Awesome pizza, great tasty salads. It's a little unexpected treasure of Raleigh, the only drawback is the crowd but it's hard to fault people for lovin' it.
We have made Lynn-wood Grill are regular stop after our monthly meeting. A groups of us end up filling up a table or two. The wait staff has always been good about taking care of us. This past Tuesday, they ran out of the mystery beers and are waiter was quite apologetic. It wasn't necessary after all we were drinking mystery beers. We usually get a large order of wings. They are good about spitting the order into two sauces. The wings are good sized and crispy. For a neighborhood bar, this meets all the criteria and then some.
The food here is pretty good. The menu is extensive with a large selection to choose from. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is non-smoking before 10pm, except at the bar. A good place to take the family. However, on the live-music nights, it's necessary to get there ridiculously early in order to get seats to see the musician due to the layout with the bar in the middle of the room.
Needs alot of customer service improvement.

Lost our order. After a long wait was disappointed with the food. Said something then but no money taken off the bill. So decided to send them a note via their website so manager could review it and at least get back to me. Never got a response. Felt then that they did not really care. So the result is I will not go back and will tell friends what my thoughts are about their attitude and food quality.
Always an enjoyable experience!
Many times in the old building my husband and I tried to go to Lynnwood but there was always too long of a wait. Once we went really late and finally got in. The staff was great when we did and so was the food. So much so in fact that last night we decided to check them out at the new building thinking since they added so many more tables the wait wouldn't be as long. Found that to be the case :)
The first thing I noticed when I went in was how ridiculously loud it was inside and the music seemed to echo off the walls too. Solution: Sit outside upstairs. Good choice overall, the temperature was nice and the facilities are nice up there, however, while better than inside, it was still too loud. I realize it's a bar and all but the point is to meet up with friends and unwind after a long hard day at the office and you have to REALLY yell at one another :(
From my previous experience I know they had good beer and ""pub fare."" I got beer, appetizers, and a salad because that's what I was craving. The salad was mediocre for the price. It was pretty fresh and it tasted good, it was just not really as much as you would expect to get of ""rabbit food"" for the price mainly. My husband got a little pizza. Now I knew they were famous for their pizza but I had just never tried it before. Let me say if you want a delicious pizza, this is the place to get it! ZOMGeee yummeh. So the morale of this story is don't get a salad, get a pizza :) Also on the list of things I recommend: pickle chips & dirty chips. I saw someone had complained about the salad dressing, I had plenty of dressing for both my salad and for dipping my appetizers...mind you I don't drown my food in dressing since I like to actually taste the food.
PRICE: A bit on the high side in my opinion.
The Good: nice rooftop dining, great pizza, beer and pub fare
The Bad: too loud!
The meh: salad, price
The staff is unprofessional. We just walked out as soon as we got in. I am surprised at the long wait times.
Let me first say I was a frequent customer at the old LG location. I loved the food, staff, and neighborhood feel. Despite the physical space of the new location being larger and nicer, many of the things that attracted me to LG were left behind at the old location--specifically a friendly staff, great service, and a feeling that you were welcome--and, most importantly, that they appreciated your business. \r
I've been to the new location a few times already and dealt with long waits for food and seating, rude host staff, and poor service. (I understand that the wait will be long for seating as people check out the new location but don't act like *you're* doing me a favor by letting me eat there.) I hope the new LG will work out whatever kinks are going on with staffing, food prep, and service because LG has been a local favorite. \r
It's starting to feel like the Cheesecake Factory (lots of hype and waiting for nothing)--just with better beer.
The ""new Lynwood"" is terrible. I frequented the old one regularly and enjoyed it. I have visited the new location three times and the third time was the last. I had legitimate complaints and when I spoke to the manager, which I have never done in a restaurant before, he not only didn't seem to care, he actually insulted me. Our waitress was snotty, rude, and stupid. I have been in the service industry for many years. Waiting tables is not hard and rolling of the eyes is not necessary. Our order was wrong, the food was cold, I can go on and on. I know it won't affect their business, but none of my friends are satisfied either and word of mouth is a powerful thing.

Be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes for dinner, even on a Monday night. Not a good idea if you want to catch a movie next door afterwards at the theater because you'll miss it. They don't take reservations or call ahead seating. After waiting 45 min in the heat, I checked with the hostess to see how much longer it would be and she couldn't find us on her list. We ended up sitting in the Smoker's Patio because we didn't want to wait any longer. Complaining to the manager did nothing as all he told us was ""as you can see, we're busy"". I sent an online complaint and I received an email that stated : "" We will never meet your high expectations.... Too hard to listen to an unjustified complaint. Again PLEASE do not come back; you will obviously not be happy and our business will be just fine without your scrutiny. Thanks,\r
Ted "" <---Ted said it all, folks. If you like feeling like you don't matter, this is the place for you. They will not try to make you happy. On a good note, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive.\r
I live within walking distance of Lynnwood Grill and have eaten there on a regular basis since it first opened. Every one in the neighborhood is anxiously awaiting the brand new building which will be just up the hill from the current location. \r
I'm not sure which is better - the staff or the food. The wings are without a doubt the best in Raleigh. We like to mix our sauces so we get exactly the taste that we prefer. My favorite is Garlic and Teriyaki combined... the staff call this Garlicyaki though you won't find it on the menu. All of the food is consistent and always fresh. I have never had to send anything back to the kitchen.\r
The staff are top notch in service and friendliness. They strive to learn the names of regular customers. Orders are always correct, you'll get extra napkins before you need them (the wings are messy!) and your glass will only run dry when you're leaving the table.\r
Highly recommend!! (I'll probably see you there) \r
Today for lunch I visited Lynnwood Grill. I ordered a small pizza and a salad with ranch dressing.
When the salad arrived there was one small ramekin of dressing that was not even full. It did not cover my salad, so I asked for another container of ranch. When my waiter came back with another small ramekin he said, ""I'm sure you know, but I have to tell you... extra dressing is 50 cents.""
To which, I replied, ""No, i have been eating here for years and I do not recall being charged for ranch dressing except for wing night.""
However, the waiter said that any extra dressing would cost 50 cents.
Now, here is my problem with this scenario. It is your right as a business to charge what you wish for your items. However, I had already purchased a salad that comes with dressing...when you serve it in a small to-go ramekin that is not even full and does not cover the greens of the salad I should not be expected to pay another 50 cents. This is different than someone ordering Pizza and asking for Ranch as a dipping sauce. (In my opinion you should give the ranch in either scenario...but it seems CLEAR to me that someone eating salad may want more than 2.5 ounces of dressing.)
I live nearby and after only going there a couple times, they remembered my name and what I drank. This place isn't a restaurant with bar food, its a bar with restaurant food. I have had a little bit of everything off the menu and it has all been good. The pizza is to die for. You can pick one of their pizzas off the menu or make up your own with their wide variety of toppings. This is a can't miss spot to eat or just hang out with friends or make new ones.
Decided to try Lynnwood Grill after seeing a movie. It was a blast. I went with a couple of friends and we got the cheese dip with beef added to it (which our waitress suggested) as an appetizer. After a few drinks, they have $8 pitchers, we got our pizza which was also delicious. The crust was to die for! We got the Thespian pizza (spinach, mushrooms, mozzarella, garlic!), also suggested by our awesome waitress emma. Service was great and the food was the best i've had in a long time. The other negative comments definatly did not have the experience I had, and should probably try it again! Will be back soon!
I really like this place. The food is good, and the menu is big enough for almost anyone's taste. My favorite is the chef salad. The greens are always very fresh.
Pros: lots of choices, but still very good
Great service, packed night time crowd, pizza is decent.
I have tried almost everything on the menu at some point and have not been disappointed once. The new fall football menu has been a nice touch with the addition of Nathan's hot dogs. The only downside is the smoke, which should hopefully be corrected in January 2010 when NC institutes the smoking ban. I have never had a bad experience with the service and have made quite a few friends among the staff (Go Sox!). Great atmosphere to watch a game, listen to live music, or just hang out with friends.
Pros: Entire Menu, Atmosphere
Lynnwood Grill is one of our favorite places to go for a drink and dinner! The staff is very friendly....owner, Ted almost always stops by our table to check on us. The food is very good and there's a lot of variety. I recommend the pickle chips, salads, pizza and the garlic knots. I love the garlic knots! \r
I have read some of the reviews that mention poor service. I was shocked to read that because I have never had a bad experience!
Pros: Friendly service, great food, good prices
Cons: Can be a little smokey
Gave it a 2nd chance and was more impressed. Service is peculiar, but a decent bite of food if you're headed to the Raleigh Grande.
Pros: Decent Bar & Draft Selection
This is one of our absolute favorite places in the Triangle for pizza with Lilly's being a close tie. The pizza is awesome, with toppings like shrimp and potatoes. The wings come in a wide variety of tasty flavors (not just your usual mild, hot, bbq, etc) -- I'd recommend getting ""hot"" with a side of ""backdraft"" sauce. The atmosphere is suitably dark and grungy. Music is usually classic rock-ish. My only real complaint is the beer selection. They have some decent beers, but, the last time we went, they were sorely lacking in the stouts department. I have little to complain about, though. We're desperately looking for a good pizza joint in Durham now that we've left North Raleigh.
Pros: Great pizza, great wings, great atmosphere
Cons: Beer selection could be better
Good Pizza for a decent price. It's hard to find good pizza anymore but they definately have a good one. I think the staff could be a little more welcoming for being in a service industry, but overall a good experience.
Pros: Good Pizza
Cons: didn't find the staff too friendly
Lynnwood does have a bit of an identity crisis as you can tell by other reviews. On the one hand it is close to the movie theater so you get a lot of traffic from families stopping in for quick food before the show, but on the other hand this is usually a very crowded and smoke filled not-the-most-family-friendly bar.\r
If you and your kids have half an hour until VeggieTales IV is playing this probably isn't the best place to come in to try to get a pizza. However, if you come at off peak times and are not in a huge rush you will be rewarded.\r
The pizza is some of the best in town. If I remember correctly this was a Lilly's for a short time and they seem to have kept at least some of their recipe ingredients in mind. The sandwiches and pickle chips are also awesome. In fact, I don't think I've ever had anything bad there. The prices for the food is also some of the best around. Pretty much everything is about 20% less than Blinco's down the street. You can get a pizza or a calzone for around $7 and their sandwiches are less than $8.\r
If you are coming in to drink they also have great prices and drink specials. I hate to pick on Blinco's again, but they have a Mystery Beer night for $2 while Lynnwood's is $1. Blinco's has $2.50 domestic pint specials while Lynnwood has $1.50.\r
So, if you are looking for great bar food and great prices for the area I highly recommend Lynnwood.
Everything I've ever eaten here has been yummy! The potato wedges are to die for! And low prices, too.\r
However, everytime I've been here it's been too crowded. That's the mark of a good restaurant, but it makes the service lack a little. Also, you can tell there's a bit of an in-crowd. If you're trying to make a movie or watch a game, get here early!\r
If you are looking to relax, spend some time and are patient, Lynnwood Grill is completely worth it. If you demand a fast service and constant attention, you will not enjoy this place.
Cons: Slow service and seating
My girlfriends and I went to Lynnwood Grill lastnight. We started off by ording drinks and it took them 5mins to bring them too us. So when we finally got our drinks we ordered some food and it took them 45min to make us a medium pizza and a basket of wings. The wait staff was very rude he didnt come to offer apology for why it was taking so long. We had to go up to the bar twice to get our drinks refilled. The bartender was very rude and it also took her forever to bring our drinks back. we will never go back to Lynnwood Grill again.
Pros: CLOSE TO HOME
Cons: THE PLACE SHOULD HIRE BETTER PEOPLE
I've benn to LYNNWOOD GRILL 12 TO 15 times and I always paid as I go.(DRINKS $6.00) Well one night I ran a tab and when I tabed out my drinks were $5.50 for the same drink. So i went in there a few more times and ran tabs and paid in cash and I had some of the same bartenders and some different and wouldn't you know it if I ran a tab drinks $5.50 and pay as you go $6.00 and I tipped very well each time until I caught on to there game they were self tipping all night. so when i asked them about this they just walked away. Now I will admit the food was wondeful but the service was horrible and you have to wait forever to get a refill on your drinks and there is plenty of people working their. IF YOU GO THER JUST MAKE SURE THEY DONT SELF TIP ON YOU
Pros: GREAT FOOD
Cons: BAD SERVICE, OVER CHARGE, RUDE RUDE RUDE
This place is a really great find. It looks very unassuming and a little cheesy from the outside but the food is awesome! There are a ton of great apps to choose from- my favorite is the pickle chips and their wings are really great too. The drink specials are pretty good and the atmosphere is very laid-back. \r
The service, however, is spotty. There is one server named Art (Arthur? Arty?) and he is awesome. He has always taken really good care of us. There is another guy though who kind of looks like Mr. Clean and he provided what has got to be an award winning performance as he stood at our table in complete silence looking at us until I said ""hi.. uhh... should I order drinks?"" The rest of the night he used eye and body language to more or less signal everything. It was SO weird because I saw him being super chatty and funny with other tables. Meh. Sometimes you will get someone really great and other times you will get people that are so so but I guess that is anywhere. \r
Try: Pickle chips, cajun sauce, chicken parm sand, margaritas, meatball sub\r
Be aware that you usually have to wait a while on drinks and refills and tables are usually a few minutes wait but its generally worth it :)
Pros: food, atmosphere, price
Cons: Parking, empty drinks
My fiance and I just moved to Raleigh from Charlotte and we were thrilled to discover the Lynnwood Grill so close to our house and convenient to where we run our errands. We have been three times in under a month of living here because the food is fabulous (they even have great salads and I am very finicky about my salads), the service is spot on, and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun to hang out in. They have awesome drink specials, even on the weekends, and every server we have had (three different ones) has been extremely attentive, professional, and kept the food and drinks coming. The Lynnwood Grill is our official neighborhood hang out and we highly recommend it to everyone we meet.
Pros: Tasty food at a great price, wonderful service, relaxed atmosphere
When you take a date out for the traditional ""dinner and a movie"", and you spend $20 for a pizza, you expect it to be pretty good. The pizza here is AWFUL. Not only was the pizza AWFUL, but it seemed like I was chewing on cigarette smoke while I was eating it. This is the type of place that screams for a ""No Smoking"" area........like Carolina Ale House has. The bathrooms were disgusting...... I mean, like college watering hole disgusting. It took awhile for us to get our beers, but it was busy. However, seeing people practically falling off bar stools is unacceptable. It was 9pm and there were 2 guys so smashed, they should have been cut off 2 shots and 3 beers prior. Exactly how loud, rude, and drunk do you have to be to get cut off? This place should never be construed as a ""family"" or ""date night"" place.
Pros: The service was OK, but just OK
Cons: Loud Drunks at bar....still being served, AWFUL pizza, disgusting bathroom
Being in the service industry myself, I just cannot figure out why, when there isn't a whole lotta people in the bar, should your drink ever stay empty for more than a few seconds when the staff number matches the amount of customers. This isn't a one time occurance, it happens ALL the time. After chatting with a bunch of my friends who all frequent the establishment I realize it is not just me. (I could understand if I was obnoxious or a bad tipper but I do bartend so I DO NOT do either). They have all agreed with me about the service. The only reason most of us go there is the proximity to our places, or to get food at odd hours. After my last experience there I have vowed to never go back. It is not acceptable to be rude and to yell at people like I watched the bartender do to some friends of mine. It is not acceptable to sit with an empty beer or soda while the bartenders walk back and forth, doing, I don't know what, because no one is at the bar. The last time I ate at a table I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for them to bring me what I asked for so I could eat!. I am not trying to be ""that person"" either. We all know the ""person"" who was drunk and obnoxious and can't even remember, generally over exagerrates what happened, and leaves a crappy rating (I've seen it happen). It just seems over the year or two I've been going there, these things never change. I know I'm not the only one who's noticed, but I am tired of putting up with it!
Pros: Great Salads
Cons: Poor service
Everyone needs more wood. Or I wood, wood you? The wood has great pizza, a wide range of good food, excellent atmosphere, and a pretty okay staff (actually, they're the best overall staff of any place I've seen in North Raleigh - which is quite a few places). Whether you want to head out to a movie or a pie with the family, meet coworkers after a grueling day of Dilbertizing, or just mosey up to the full bar for a spirit, the Wood delivers. But don't take my word for it. Check them out. If you don't agree, I'll refund the price of this review. Guaranteed.
Pros: Great food and drink specials.
Cons: Sometimes too popular....so stay away.
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, maybe not for very young kids but I love this place. Try it, you will too!
I enjoy variety and this is definitely what I have found heading to Lynnwood on different nights of the week. Wings nights, live music, and excellent food all in one place! What a one-stop-shop! :) You absolutely can't beat their wings on Monday night. Sometimes it?s a little packed on Mondays but what can you expect when you have 35 cent wings that are not weak and puny. ?Special sauce? is where its at :)
Avoid this place at all costs! We had a horrible waitress who took 25 minutes to bring us our drinks. Ours was not the only table either- many people sat around all night for 20/30 minutes before being greeted or getting drinks. Then our appetizers came out wrong and very very late. Our drinks were almost always empty just like the rest of the people in the restaurant. Dirty plates piled up on our table to the point we barely had room for our entrees. The food definitely was not impressive and the wings had no flavor. They were even out of carrots and only offered shredded carrots with their wings- seriously? Our entrees all came out at different times, and my salad was forgotten. The bartenders were slow as heck. The hostesses were completely incompetent and the management was the worst of all. When we spoke to the manager about our bad experiences he was rude, condescending, apathetic and basically offered us a compensation for one of our drinks which took 30 more minutes - a whole two dollar compensation and did not apologize. Finally when it came time to pay we needed our check split two ways- not that complicated right? Well this took another 30 minutes only to find out that the cards were switched and the bills were run incorrectly, requiring even more time to straighten everything out. Then she did not give us copies of our receipts! All in all it took over 2 hours for what should have been a quick dinner. Avoid this place like the plague- go to Blinco's instead for great food, great variety and great service!
Cons: bad service, staff, management, food, parking, wait time
Well first of all the place is filled with SMOKE...not kid friendly....so we decided to just order the food to take home....took forever....had to step outside..due to smoke causing my girls to cough....then bill wasn't right and food wrong....and when reported situation... me and my family were looked upon as if we were causing a fuse....all we wanted was to get things RIGHT from the start...So from my experience i would advise all FAMILIES to stay away.....and try another spot. All we wanted to do was take the family out to a nice restaurant...new to the area and for all the new residents of Raleigh.... go and skip Lynnwood Grill...
