This is my favorite restaurant to visit when I'm in Durham visiting my daughters. We have been coming here for over three years and have always enjoyed ourselves. The Market Whole Fish special is outstanding and I'm also a big fan of the Duck Breast. I have never ordered the cheapest pasta on the menu, though...so maybe that one isn't so great.
There are many negative reviews in this thread that I am confused about.
-I normally have a martini to start off and with top-shelf liquor that costs me about $11 at Parizade.
-I almost always enjoy my food, though I usually compliment my palette with wine. I am enjoying a first course while I wait for my entree so I do not order one solitary course and then stare at my watch until it arrives at my table. There may have been times where my food took 45 minutes but I didn't know it because when I dine here I expect to stay for at least 2 hours and I was too busy enjoying my company, my drink, my appetizer, and my salad course to realize that my entree arrived 45 minutes after I ordered it.
-Simply put, food tastes better when you pair it with other enjoyable things. Maybe these people with libel on the mind should try harder to enjoy themselves and life in general before they show up at a restaurant needing to be taught how to enjoy a meal. I usually search for casual fare when I'm in a hurry to complain.
-There isn't one item on the menu that is served a-la-carte. EVERY entree is paired with a side. It's because of this that Parizade open to criticism from "dining newbies", even those who don't understand that the meaning of a-la-carte.

Also, if you drink only water with a solitary course in an upscale restaurant, you deserve to leave unhappy. It's your own fault. Embrace your experience and make an attempt to enjoy yourself. If your food was overcooked at Parizade, that's probably a polite way of telling you not to come back. They will be alright without your $30 tab and much better off without your negative energy polluting the place.

For great "dining" experience come here. For "hurry up and bring me my chicken pasta", elsewhere would be a better fit.

Just responding to Tommy A's review which is completely untrue. Supposedly he paid $10 for an aristocrat and coke. I bartend at Parizade and we don't even serve aristocrat during dinner service. We do serve it though for late-night parties for Duke. But, those drinks are only $5. Maybe you forgot about the TWO drinks you ordered which equals $10. Please don't bad mouth a business with lies. We have been around for 20 years and we try to offer Duke students and everyone in Durham a great experience. All can't be perfect but that is what we strive for everyday. Please get your facts straight before speaking negatively.

An upscale atmosphere with a lot of custom metal work and spectacular paintings greet you at Parizade.

With their prices you would think they are located in New York City. Instead, they are a blight in a deserted office park. Food is always overcooked, dining room is too noisy and the bar at night is the single biggest rip off in Durham. Ten dollars for a 'crat and coke!

Service at the bar was not so hot. Myself and a friend went up to the bar to get a drink, and we were treated very rudely by the female bartender. Male bartender didn't acknowledge our presence at all. We finally just walked off, too much trouble. However, the hostess was very pleasant.

I've eaten here twice and both times I have been less that satisfied. The food is way too over priced for the portion size and the service you receive. A lot of the meals are al-a-carte meaning you don't get any side. The food itself is nothing amazing and similar to a number of other restaurants in the area that are a lot cheaper.

Once I went and I waited over 45 minutes to get my food. It turned out that the kitchen had lost my order. To their credit Parizade did pick up the cost of the meal, but it was still disappointing to see this in a restaurant that is supposed to be one of the better ones in the area.

I was there on a night when they had a rather large wedding party. Service was very slow because of it. The food was wonderful. The waitress failed to ask if we wanted to take our leftovers home and by the time we tracked her down it
