Great service
First time going to Red Dragon, we will go back. The food was very well prepared. I had chicken with broccoli. I asked for it spicy, our waiter took the time to explain the two sauces that have that would be spicy. I went with his recommendation, spicy brown sauce. Great time! Place is small, you may have a wait.

Good Raleigh Chinese
I went to this place and had the tofu vegetable dish-- best I have had in Raleigh. The veggies were fresh and the brown sauce was flavorful, the spring roll was good, but the wonton soup was a little on the bland side, but still flavorful, especially after adding a bit of soy sauce. The drawback is that the menu does not have a wide variety or staples I expect at a Chinese place (like Spare Ribs, egg rolls, or noodles other than lo mein) & if you go at night it is incredibly difficult to find because the awning isn't lit. The owner said they have been there 15 years so people just know where they are. I highly recommend it.
...And I'm sorry but I can't resist-- to the woman who thinks the staff was rude for shushing your kids (and those like you)-- I applaud them! Nobody wants to hear your loud and obnoxious kids-- yes I'm sure it was disturbing to others trying to enjoy their meals around you (thereby obnoxious) which caused the staff to shush YOUR kids-- a job YOU should have been taking care of yourself. If you want your kids to behave loudly or run around a restaurant like it's a playground, go to chucky cheese, otherwise be considerate to those around you and keep your kids disciplined in public.
Pros: Great Raleigh Chinese Take-Out
Cons: Small Menu

Bland "Americanized" fast-food Chinese food
I've been to The Red Dragon twice; the first time it was not at all good...the second time, my friends and I went because we were hoping that I'd been wrong the first time. Unfortunately, I wasn't. The staff was polite but not friendly; they only came to the table to take our orders, bring the food, and to leave the check. We were never asked how the food was, either time. The Peking Duck was extremely fatty and not crispy. Yes, I know that Duck is not a lean meat, but this was 90% jiggly, inedible fat! The Chicken Broccoli, as well, was not lean; it tasted like it had been reheated and the broccoli was soggy and overcooked. The Beef Broccoli was similar; even doctored-up with a lot of soy sauce and hot sauce, it didn't have good flavor or texture. I requested "extra mushrooms" with the Beef Broccoli and was charged $2 extra for them, but they were very hard to locate on the platter; they also tasted and looked like canned mushrooms. The white rice was very good. Really, the food did not taste good and its' appearance was not attractive, in the least.
The prices weren't too high but I would've been much happier with a higher bill, as long as the food was good. So, in summary, the prices are low (and you get what you pay for..) and smoking wasn't allowed (a good thing).
Pros: location, no-smoking
Cons: parking, service, food

Good food and friendly staff
The only drawback to this place is that it is too small to hold the crowds it sometimes generates. The reason it gets crowded is because the food is very good. Since 2001, I've probably eaten at Red Dragon at least 30 times. The soup is delicious and the sweet and sour chicken is hard to beat. They give you a generous amount of nearly everything.
Pros: very good taste, generous portions, value priced at lunchtime
Cons: parking lot and restaurant itself is too small

Consistent quality, light and fresh, inexpensive
Red Dragon consistently serves fresh and light entrees of just right portion sizes. The service is always efficient and friendly. However, if you like spicy food as I do, ask for hot sauce on the side. If you ask for the dish to be prepared extra spicy, even for the dishes with the little pepper by them on the menu, you will still be disappointed. The efficient service, the consistent freshness and quality, however, make it worth revisiting. Just be prepared to add your own heat.
Pros: Consistent quality, fresh and light
Cons: not nearly spicy enough
