First off I would give negative stars if I could. Do not go here. They did not honor my groupon and did additional processes to my hair without my consent or telling me that they were adding hundreds of dollars worth of these not consented

I strongly do NOT recommend anyone with curly hair going here. When you walk out of a salon and someone asks you ??what happened to your hair?, you know it was especially bad. I??ve had naturally curly hair for all of my over 40 years , and those with naturally curly hair know, we know curly hair best. I travel a lot for my job, & have been able to get my hair cut by the Oiudad salon in NYC & other Ouidad certified stylists around the country, as well as by other ??curl specialists? that use other curly hair techniques. Having went through the struggle to find quality professionals to trust with my curly hair, I feel it is my duty to others with curly hair to pass along my experience at Blis Salon & what I??ve learned through the years. The cut Brenda gave me was far cry from anything close to a Ouidad cut & had no modern style to it at all. Though it was nice have felt like I was taken back to the early ??90s, maybe even ??80s, hair styles have come a long way since then and there are a lot of knowledgeable and gifted curly hair stylists that can give you a cut that has the modern style of at least in the last 10 years. Brenda may have over 30 years of experience cutting hair, but her cut style matches that of when she started cutting hair. The cut she gave me was the worst haircut I??ve had in my 40 years. I am not saying that the Ouidad technique isn??t good, it is. I??m saying Brenda does not know what she is doing when it comes to cutting curly hair. I left there looking like a poodle with kinky curly flappy ears from the way she cut my bangs. This was the style, unfortunately, from the early ??90s before people really starting to know how to cut curly hair. You can use that technique of framing the face for straight hair, but not for curly.

Through the years, I??ve found some key things to look for in your curly hair stylist:

-They listen to what you have to say about your hair. After all, don??t you know your own hair best? I was *trying* to explain my hair type, what I like to do with it, and how I like to have it cut to Brenda, but she did not want to hear it. She would interrupt me and say she knows curly hair and what it needs. Every time I tried to tell her something, I couldn??t get a full sentence out because she would interrupt me and explain how she knows exactly what to do with curly hair. She does not have a clue on how to cut & work with curly hair. Her cut was the worst I??ve ever had. Ever. I told her I did not want my bangs done like she did them. She did not listen to even the little I was able to get out.

-They have curly hair themselves. I??m not saying that someone with straight hair cannot be good at cutting curly hair. I??m saying the best cuts I??ve had come from people that have curly hair. Its as if you have to have curly hair to really fully get it and know how to work with it.

-They know modern hair styles and how to create them with curly hair. No doubt the style Brenda learned 30 years ago was what was fresh and new 30 years ago, but a good stylist remains current with hair styles and can create them successfully. Brenda would really benefit from learning more current hair styles.

So, fellow curly cues, please save yourself a lot of money and a lot of anguish and do not let Brenda at Blis Salon touch your beautiful curly hair. I??m able to get my hair cut perfectly by others for half the price. Yes, I said half the price. These are my words of wisdom, from one curly cue to all others. I feel a civic duty to share what I??ve learned to others with curly hair. Be well.

Do not go to Blis to get your curly hair cut. Brenda should stick to cutting straight hair. It could only be better, I would hope.

I purchased the groupon deal a couple months back since I was new to the area and still looking for a stylist. When I went in for my cut and color I waited over 20 min for the stylist. She was cold and unfriendly through the entire process

I actually had an appointment with Alter Ego, Blis' sister salon, but couldn't find them on here. When I called to make my appointment, the receptionist, Carmen, was quite rude & not very helpful at all. When I sat down for my hair

Did not get greeted with someone asking me if I wanted something to drink as in the video but that didn't bother me so much. I did not have one, not one product used on my hair except for shampoo and conditioner. Not a gel, a mousse, something for shine, something for holding the style, nothing. I did not even have a curling iron used on my hair to complete the styling. When I left I liked the cut. Thirty min. later my hair looked awful. I realized that no products had been used on my hair. I also found that I had a few bangs which I did not want! I'm spending more money to get 'this' straightened out.

I have never been happier with my hair than after going to Blis. Heather is the best- she knows just how to cut my straight, thick hair so that it grows out and still looks great. Also, everyone wants to know if I color my hair or not (Heather again), because it looks so natural. I think the prices are reasonable compared to other salons I've been to in the Charlotte area. Oh- and you can't beat the environment- great music and a fantastic renovated Victorian house.

I read in North Carolina Signature magazine about blis salon and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed it was fantastic. I do have curly hair and the Ouidad cut was great worth every penny. Everyone from the front desk to the service providers and owners were extremely friendly and professional. Can't wait to go back!!!

The service was great (Ashley) and I could not have asked for a better experience for my 5 year old with extremely curly, challenging hair. The Ouidad treatment is a bit expensive ($70+ even for kids) but very worth it and it will not be as expensive to maintain. A great cut by a very professional stylist. I will go back myself for a "regular" cut and continue to take my daughter there for Kurly Kids cuts!

This spa is located in Pineville and is a little out of the way but a great place to go. Its located in a renovated victorian house and the people who work there are friendly and helpful. Its is not horribly expensive either which is unusual for the Charlotte area.
