Allen Louis D Md - Blue Ridge Pediatrics

The nurse never calls back when they say. I waited 2 weeks for a call back on 2 seperate occassions. Unacceptable. Dr. Allen seems to be a good doctor, although he likes very much to disipline children in front of you just for joining in in a conversation. My kids are very friendly and are from out of state. We always had a great relationship with our other doctor. Joking, talking, laughing. As soon as my child wanted to express what she was thinking the doctor immediately told her " You only speak when spoken to." I thought this was very rude. Not a good way to build relationship for doctor and patient. I'm glad the kids are older now and have outgrown many childhood illnesses. I try to avoid Dr. Allen. Dr. Deavonzo (sp) is from NY and we had a much better experience with him, as well as DR. Deflora. Dr. Perek in my opinion is very inexperienced. I try to avoid her as well. I haven't been to any other doctor besides these 4 so far so I cannot comment on the other doctor.

This practice is awesome! We love Dr. Allen and Dr. Vijay. We have been going to this group since our son was born (6 years ago). We have had to call with emergencies in the middle of the night and from the beach. (asthma, allergies, and a bout of food poisoning) They always return calls promptly after hours, and when my son had to be hospitalized on a Sunday, Dr. DeFlora met us at the hospital. We can't say enough good things about this practice.

This practice has a nurse that is "on-call" during the day. Don't waste your time. She'll call you back 10% of the time and then it will be hours later. The receptionist is rude and I have waited for 45 minutes before (with a baby) while the doctor must have been taking an extended lunch break. Also, Dr. D'Avanzo talks down to you and ignores your concerns. Dr. Allen is very sweet, but overly disregards that their could be a problem with your child. I do not know many of the other doctors becasue they do not allow you to request which one you want to see before your child is one year old.

I love this practice. They have always taken heed to all of my childrens illnesses, and really show that they care. Many times I have had to call during the middle of the night. A nurse doesn't call you back like some offices do, the doctor actually calls you. They go far and beyond. I am more than satisfied and never thought that this practice was this good.
