Went for the first time to Raleigh Pediatrics in Falls Valley Drive today for a physical for my 15 year old daughter with Dr. Parkerson. Waited an hour until we finally saw the doctor. All was well until Dr. Parkerson recommended the HPV

I am so disappointed in this institution. I've been taking my son to Raleigh Pediatrics for over a year. Everything started out great with the wellness visits (minus one of the doctor's being seemingly short with me, but i come to expect

The drs are nice but some of the nurses are rude and condescending. They don't care if you can't pay they want all the money up front with or without insurance. Usually costing $150-200. They will not work with you and will not do

We've been going Raleigh Peds since my first son was a year old in 2004. I'm now bringing all 3 of my children there, including our newest, a 9 month old. I've been quite happy over the last 10 years. I enjoy most of the doctors (we have our favorites, of course!) but overall they are all good.
Recently I've needed to take my 9 month old twice in a short span of time, once for a well visit, and then again for a GI bug. Both times we've waited in the room for an extended period of time (45-55 minutes!!) with a squirming little one.
The first visit was a well visit. We were scheduled for a 9:10AM appt with Dr. Foster. We were taken back to the room right on time, did the prerequisite info check with the nurse, and then told that once Dr. Foster arrived into the office we would be her first patient. REALLY? You've got patients sitting in an exam room and you haven't shown up to work yet? Are they scheduling this way or does she just get to work when she feels like it? She finally waltzed into the room at 9:55.
The second visit, just one week later, I specifically scheduled with another doctor, Dr. Bernstein. As the nurse walked out of the room, she said "Dr. Foster will be right with you!". I'm thinking, what? I made an appt with Dr. Bernstein. I let it go, deciding Dr. Foster was fine and surely we wouldn't be kept waiting again. Well, we were. And this time I had a sick 9 month old. Our appt was scheduled for 9:50. Again, Dr. Foster walked in at 10:45.
Now I don't know if this is just a problem with this doctor, but I was highly irritated. Even though I scheduled with another doctor to avoid the problem, I got her again and the same thing occurred. We love Ral Peds, and Dr. Foster is a fine doctor, but her lack of consideration for others' time is extremely distressing.

I went to them as a child and now all three of my children go as well as all the other children in my family. Dr. Hedgepeth, Dr. Britt and Dr. Chip are absolutely wonderful and my kids love them too!

I have been a pediatric nurse for 20 years working with some of the sickest children. I have taken children for doctors visits at Raleigh Pediatrics (both Garner and Raleigh offices) and I've never had a bad experience. We have seldom had to wait for more than 10 minutes and the doctors took their time explaining everything and asking if we had any questions. They have always gone out of their way to help us and gone far above and beyond what any other doctors office would do. I would trust the doctors at Raleigh Pediatrics above all others. For the past 12 years that I have known them well, I have recommended them to anyone I meet with young children. I have seen the compassion in several of the doctors when working with a family whose child was terminal.

Someone recommended Raleigh Peds for my first baby. I was happy to go there because it was convenient to where we lived. The Dr. who saw us in the hospital was wonderful (Dr. Johnson), but he works at the Garner location. The first visit to the N. Raleigh location was awful. I had just given birth as a new mom, and all the nurse talked about was her delivery and how bad her tearing was when she gave birth. I was expecting advice from the nurse, because we were brand new parents. The Dr. was even worse! She told me that our daughter was losing weight and I should supplement her. She gave me a dropper and formula. I was devastated and emotional thinking that I was not breastfeeding my child properly. I never did supplement my daughter and she gained a lot of weight after that appt. She did not tell me that all babies lose weight and then gain it right back after a couple weeks. I asked for someone else for the next appt for her 1st month. Again the nurse was cold, and did not listed to anything I said. She just asked questions from a list on her computer. This time the Dr. was great, Dr. Bernstein. He gave words of advice, explained what he was doing, interacted with the baby. The only problem is that he is at retirement age, and I want our daughter to grow up with a Dr. so that she is used to him or her. I had requested him again for the two month, but he was on vacation. So I thought we would try someone else. The nurse we had this time was not good either, and Dr. Helms was cold and robotic.
At this point I was questioning if this was the practice for my baby.
My breaking point was the administrative staff. The woman at the front window is not the sharpest knife in the block, and she is rude. I am allowed 60 days to update my insurance to add my baby. My acct number stays the same, only my enrollment code changes. They kept asking me for my daughters insurance card. I told them that I did not get an updated card from my insurance co yet, but I called them before that appt and my daughter is on my insurance. They had to ask several people and take up a lot of my time to make sure this was okay. They made me feel like I was taking advantage of them. I have really good insurance. I am not going back there, and would not recommend them to anybody.

I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at either the North Raleigh location or the Garner location! I rarely have waited more than 10 mins for my daughters scheduled appointment. I read some other reviews stating they had to wait over an hour....this is probably due to a child that needed immediate care. Such as an EMERGENCY! Of course your appointment will get pushed back if this occurs. I have met all the Dr.'s and like them all! I don't make an appointment with one specific Dr b/c they may not always be available and it is good idea to try them all. Highly recommend them.

I've been going to Raleigh Peds since my son was born (2005). I love going to my primary doctor, Dr. Allen Hewett, but I only get to see him once a year. Every time I have ever gone for a SICK visit I get a doctor who is uncaring and impersonal. (Dr. Helms & Dr. Rusher in particular). The reason I am writing this is because the last time I went, I made an appointment because my son had a HUGE splinter in the bottom of his foot (almost 2 inches), he couldn't walk on it; it was VERY deep and could not be taken out by me. He was also burning up and was extremely flushed. He was in pain, crying and would not let me touch his foot. When Dr. Rusher took one look at his foot, he looked at me and said they only scheduled 15 minutes for this appointment and it was not enough time to take it out. He said it wouldn't be fair to the other patients to make them wait if he took more than 15 min.. I asked if there was ANOTHER Dr. and he said NO. He then told me to soak his foot and see if I could push it out. WHAT MADE HIM THINK I COULD PUSH IT OUT!!! when he told me it would require cutting it out with a scalpel and numbing the site. He said I would have to COME BACK TOMORROW. He sent us AWAY. My son was in PAIN and he SENT US AWAY!!!! I decided to go to a Pediatric Urgent Care on Blue Ridge Road for help. I couldn't stand the fact my son had to wait another 12+ hours in pain. How would he like a 2 inch splinter in the bottom of his foot!! Anyway the doctor took us in right away. He took his temp and it was 103.4!!!! He said an infection was starting. He then gave him Motrin right away. Proceeded to numb his foot. After 20 minutes they started the procedure and cut the splinter out. The Dr. couldn't beleive how big the splinter was. He had a hard time getting it out. $375.00 later. I had a happy kid. It would have cost me $20.00 at Raleigh Ped's. The cost didn't matter; I was going to help my son one way or another! The doctor let me down and SENT US AWAY!!!! I will NEVER go back. I will miss Dr. Hewett! Problem is with this practice, you can never get the good doctors when you are sick....Moving on...A VERY DISAPPOINTED PARENT.\r

Pros: Dr. Hewett - For yearly checkup

Cons: Sick visits - If it is not your primary Dr...good luck.

Why we've continued going to Raleigh Pediatrics North Raleigh location off of Falls of Neuse is beyond me.

Any time we've been to an appointment, we've had to wait at least an hour each visit, none of my children have ever gotten any kind of relief from whatever was ailing them, and we've never received a diagnosis.

My main problem with them is that they refuse to listen to their patients. Any time I've suggested or requested something, or a certain type of treatment, their answer is simply, ""we don't do that.""

I recently brought in my 16 year old daughter who was having severe stomach cramps and was throwing up. She's severely phobic of needles due to past experiences, so I promised her I wouldn't let them give her a shot.

The nurse who saw us said she could take the medicine orally, but they were going to give her a shot. I informed them of her phobia and she said ""Well I'll get some other nurses in here to help hold her down.""
And she went on to explain how this would help protect my daughter, and the staff.

I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone who loves their children and would like to keep them alive and well.

I do not recommend this practice. I experienced hour long waits in the examination rooms. The doctors were impatient and treated my children as though they were lab specimens. I question the safety of their vaccine preparation practices. The medical dianoses were inaccurate more than once. There are better pediatricians in raleigh. Don't subject your children to these ones.

I took my newborn son there and left couple months later. I tried several different doctors and didn't like any of them at all! One older male doctor (don't remember names) told me to stand where my son's private part points so he doesn't get p...d on. Another insisted he MUST lay down flat for shots and I cannot hold him. Walking accross the long hallways with an undressed baby to the scale was also unpleasant. Another female doctor asked one quick question ""is he a spitter?"" I said yes, and she diagnosed him reflux. I did my own research and diagnosed him (CORRECTLY) with food allergy. Turned out he was allergic to cows milk. I stopped all milk products in my diet (I breastfeed him) and his symptoms were gone in a few days. Overall attitude from all doctors we've seen was cold. I felt like we are another patient, not human beings. They also have those HIGH benches for infants, it was very scary to have my newborn on it. I held on to him tight the whole time. I cannot recommend this practice.

Had taken my two children to the Raleigh Pediatric Associates(Falls Valley Drive) for over a year because it is a convenient location for me. Although you may be taken out of the waiting room withing 15 minutes, you will wait in the examination room for an hour before seeing a doctor. During my well baby examination a nurse asked me if SHE could adminster my infants vaccinations because they had already set it up and the vaccine would certainly "go bad" before the doctor would be available to administer it. She told me that she didn't want to "waste" it (or maybe she didn't want to have to "waste" her time remixing another vaccine?) The practice is run like a factory. The doctors I saw did not care for my child as an individual and were very anxious to move on to their next "customer". I had two experiences where I was not referred to a specialist when I should have been. (My child ended up needing surgery. The pediatric surgeon that I finally saw warned me that the care I had gotten from my child's pediatrician was irresponsible.) Truly, these doctors give terrible medical advice and overlook serious medical conditions. Please spare yourself and your children. Raleigh Pediatric Associates hires part-time doctors and doctors who practice laissez-faire medicine and solely care about seeing quotas met and keeping their insurance costs down.

My first visit to Raleigh Peds was about 6 months ago when we first moved to the area. Approaching the front desk there was a receptionist on each side...neither of them acknowledged my presence and kept talking to other staff about who wanted what from starbucks this went on literally for 4-5 minutes. There is also a woman that works the check out counter, I think she may be the manager...not for certain. This woman has a really bad attitude...It seems every time she checks out she is very crude and acts like, we as the patient, are inconviencing her.

As far as the doctors are concerned...my (6 month old )daughter fell extremely ill with horrible case of diarrhea and a diaper rash so bad it had open sores and blisters. I do not feel like the doctors took me serious, She was sick for about 4 weeks and it was pure hell, during that time we brought her to the office at LEAST 4 times I got a different doctor each time and they all told me the same thing as the previous doctor until finally it got so bad we brought her to Duke Children's Hospital... At the hospital they determined the cause of all this was the fact she was lactose intolerant. As soon as we cut out dairy products the diarrhea stopped.
Although the doctors were very nice at Raleigh peds I feel like they could have done more for us. I feel after the second time I brought her in for the same problem they should have ran tests. Im not mad at them, just disapointed.

The building is very nice and clean, its brand new so that's a plus. The nurses have always been extremely nice and caring.
