Fiesta Grill is amazing! From specialty burritos to fajitas to the typical taco & enchilada, I have not found a better Mexican restaurant in NC. Originally from California, I had heard that Mexican food on the east coast wasn't anything to write home about. That was until I went to Fiesta Grill. Their staff is friendly and while the restaurant is sort of small, it is always worth the wait. (And, make sure to save room for the deep fried ice cream for dessert!)

As an SF transplant I've been a bit dissapointed with the Mexican food in the area. Carrburritos is OK but Fiesta Grill is much better. The salsa is thick and pungent, a great started. I had the Burrito Verde with some rice and beans. Tender pork tucked away under cheese and balanced out with the other starches was a great deal for about $6. The decor is sparse but made up for by the energy of the friendly owners. Stop on by if you get the chance, it's worth the extra 4 miles from Carrboro downtown.

Pros: Salsa, Food, Owners

Cons: Could be closer

Look out for Jesus (one of the three owners) when you walk in the door, he always greets you with a wonderfully huge smile. If you are looking for really good authentic Mexican food, this is the place. Make sure you ask for the Horchata or Tamarindo (two hard to find standard Mexican drinks) both are refreshing and quite enjoyable. The owners spent their time and money on the food, so don't expect a fancy building. They have opened only a few months ago, in a small building with no waiters. But already the service is upgraded, and they now have two waiters that could not be friendlier or smile more. Me and my husband Love it, and could not say enough about the food or the people there.

This authentic Mexican restaurant compels in-the-know locals to drive miles to the tiny eatery out in the country---the food is worth both the drive and the sometimes long wait for a table. Start with a beer or sangria and a sampler of…
