9/0/11 My husband, daughter and I ate here for Saturday lunch. We thought it would be nice along the water. We waited at one table for 15 minutes, ignored and never got waited on so we moved to another table. We were there over an hour

Disregard all the good reviews below. They are from people affiliated with this horrible restaurant. Nobody likes this place

I'm a local, lived in Carteret County for years, and know not to go to the Dockhouse ever.

The management and staff all are rude, the Health Department should shut them down, their kitchen staff probably got out of the CC jail on work release for the night, the food is inedible, the drinks are watered down, you'll catch hepatitis going to the bathroom..that pretty much sums it up.

I can't understand how this place is still open except for maybe the view.

Do yourself a favor and go to Clawsons, or Finz.

Dock House food is the worst in Beaufort...or even the coast
I have eaten their few times off and on since the 1980's and it always sucks...and most everyone knows only to drink alcohol
For cheap for go to Royal Grill or even Hardees is better

One thing about this area, they don't take to snobby outsiders much. I've been coming here for years and have pretty much always gotten good service. But I have been here enough to know how to act like a decent human being. If you act like an arrogant ass you can expect crappy service, especially if you arrived in a land yacht. The dock house is awesome and the food and beer are great. Leave your attitude at home.

I visited the Dock House a couple of weeks ago with my family and I thought it was a very good dining experience. I really enjoyed my shrimp plate and the crab dip and calamari was excellent! Our waitress was also very sweet and handled all of her tables very well. We WILL be coming back in the future. :)

This appeared to be a great place to eat and grab a few drinks. Boy can looks be deceiving. Let me see where to start:

First off, our waitress seemed overly busy which is fine, but later when we found that we were 1 of only 4 full tables on the entire 2nd floor of the restaurant, we were perplexed at how a person could be so unorganized with only 4 tables. Whatever, we could look past that. What we couldn??t look past was the attitude of our waitress. She seemed irritated with us, what with our apparent unreasonable requests of cold drinks in a timely manner. Our drinks didn??t come all at once, they came 2 or 3 at a time (we had a party of 8) and 2 of them didn??t even show up until after our food arrived (I??ll get to that travesty in a minute). When we finally saw our waitress again, we all placed our orders - not once were we asked if we wanted our checks separated (2 couples of 2, and 1 couple w/ 2 others) - remember this. So the food arrives and guess what...cold, overcooked steak and cold, undercooked fries. The flounder, shrimp, scallops, and crab cakes were decent. We were prepared to send the steak back, but with 4 tables to wait on, we never saw our waitress again until we were 3/4 done eating. We decided to go ahead and ask for the check since we didn??t want to gamble on whether or not she??d be back before midnight. She brings us the check - all on one ticket. We ask for it to be split up and that pretty much took care of the last bit of civility she showed towards us. After about 20 minutes of waiting we went inside to find out what is going on. She was attempting to get us split up but it was taking too much time for her so she went and got the owner. He came to us with about as pleasant of a demeanor as the waitress. He did at least attempt to get us split up. He didn??t seem real strong when working with the software on the wait station though, which was cause for concern when he got to the final ticket and simply told us, "Well, if you get charged for that one, then good news for us, if you don??t then that will be our gift to you for the experience you had." We left with a salty taste in our mouth - most likely from the crab cakes.

So that brings us to today when we looked at our bank statements online. The last transaction that he ran through - see above - showed up as $100.xx on her statement. Her bill was only $24.xx (paid by debit card). The other bills were $45.xx (paid in cash), $60.xx (paid in cash), and $60.xx (paid by debit card). So you can see, we spent almost $200 at this place (including tip - which would have been 0 if she hadn??t auto added it to our bills), only to still be left with a sour feeling over 5 days later. Hopefully the manager makes things right with us.

So if you decide to take the chance on this place, I would make sure you sit downstairs, avoid the steaks and fries, and pay by cash. Hopefully you??ll have a better experience than we did.

This is one of my husband's favorite places in Beaufort. It's wonderful to sit out on the deck with a beer and relax to some live music. The food is good, perhaps not the best down at the beach, but mixed with the atmosphere it's a great experience.

Order a beer, sit back and listen to the music as you watch the sun set over Taylor Creek, behind all the sailboat masts. There's nothing like it in the world.

The best thing about Dock House is definitely the atmosphere. You can sit outside and view the Beaufort Waterfront, the boats galore and Carrot Island. Live music, cold beer and pretty decent food. We usually come here to relax and have an appetizer and drink. It is a great place to just hang out!

This is a wonderful and quaint restaurant. You an eat inside or sit outside. Good quality food. Food is cooked fresh and to your liking. Staff is great and very friendly. There are two levels to sit, bar on the lower level with outdoor seating and seating upstairs with a balcony to sit out on. It's a "must" eat here place.
