My 2004 Ford Explorer has a rumbling from the rear of the car. Sounded like rear end problems and there was much on the internet forums about problems Ford has had with them.

Got a recommendation for Griffins's. Called them up and ask about the problem. They did not say bring it in and we will replace the rear end. They spent time discussing the problem and told me that it could be a wheel bearing and that Ford had problems with them going out and the appearance was the rear end was at fault.

Took the car to them. Mechanic and I went for a test drive. They put it on the rack, did some checks and found that it was a wheel bearing not the rear end.

They could have told me that the rear end was bad and I would have scammed me but they did not.

While waiting I could hear them talk with other customers on the phone and in person. I was impressed with how upfront they were and honest. All the people were friendly and the owner is active in the business. The owner answers automotive questions on one of the local readio programs. They do work for the local Ford dealership and others.

They are a full service repair shop, not just transmissions.

I would recomment that you give them a try. I have found my automotive repair shop.

I was in the process of moving to Raleigh and was to make a 12 hour drive the next day to finish my move when my transmission starting acting up. Went here on a rec. Showed up at the door, they fit me in, DROVE me to my hotel and and then, when nothing showed up in diagnostic testing, DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME!!!! The car made it safely round trip and the transmission has not acted up again in two years, but if it does, you can bet that this is where I'm going!

I recently moved to Raleigh and was having some transmission problems. I contacted Griffins and they told me to come the next day and they would get me in to look at the problem. The next day they ran a diagnostics and found out what was wrong. The price was great and everyone was so friendly and fast with the car. I will never go anywhere else. They were very cost effective and the service was excellent. I have found the best place in Raleigh to have any vehicle worked on. They do more than just transmissions and I will bring any problem that I ever have with my car back to them. They were AWESOME!!!!!
