This store is like stepping back in time. I can't say enough about the people that work there. The 2nd time I went in, they remembered me and asked me how I had been.
The meat is the best around period.... You will not get a better cut of meat anywhere in NC.
The vegetable selection was great, and they have so many old fashioned christmas candies....

if your in Durham check them out. its a bit of history that reminds me how it was in the good old days!!!

I have shopped and King's Red & White for forty
years. It is the best place to buy meat and produce. It is meat, no "water" or other "things" added, the chicken is the best in Durham. The chickens have not been given steriods, they are normal size chickens that have not been frozen. The flavor is wonderful.

The produce is also the best in Durham, anytime of the year, they will have better than any chain.

I tried to buy as much as I can from them to help ensure they stay in business. I fear the small stores like them are being pushed out by Walmart mostly.
If you can research what Walmart does to its meat, you would not eat it, also, anything that comes from China is pretty scary.

It is an old building, but everything is clean and the people are very nice .

We all need to support our locals. I see a world where no store exists but Walmart and CVS, have you seen a local mom & pop drugstore?

I had heard such good things about Red & White Grocery that I decided to see for myself. First, I had trouble finding a park as there are only a few spaces visible from the street. The store is old and didn't look clean. There was also an odor I couldn't identify. It's definitely not a place where I will shop.

We've gone to King's Red and White for almost 40 years. They have a wonderful butcher and they carry a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables at very good prices. They seem to have fresh veggies when no one else does. The butchers can cut your steaks to suit you and their meats are very fresh. The store is old and could do with some remodeling, but the products make the store!!!
