1st time i went there was about a month ago with another couple, & we liked it so much we went back the next week. we've tried the lamb sausage pizza and it was excellent, the tuna was amazing, steak was reeeally amazing & cooked to perfection, pork tenderloin was good, chicken + goat cheese pasta good (better the next day!). love the atmosphere - sat in big room on left 1st time, then little room on right 2nd time. server 1st time wasn't the best ever, but wasn't bad. server 2nd time was EXCELLENT. probably taking a friend from out of town there tonight. definitely recommend.

Very rude service, loud bar, and menu doesn't have many options. Not impressed overall. Went there with my wife one night, wasn't even very busy, had to wait a ridiculous time to get food, and waiter was rude

I have eaten at Evoo many time and my experiences have been wonderful. The service is greatly improved over the last year and the food has maintained it's high quality for both flavor and presentation. A very conscience kitchen staff for sure to ensure the excellence.
And yes, my father, has a very discerning pallet and I would not hesitate to take him there for a wonderful relaxing dinning experience.

I happened to also be dining at EVOO the night of this incident. As per the news story that was on last night, the event was an isolated incident that could have essentially happened anywhere. I have dined at the restaurant for the last several years quite regularly, and this has been the only time a situation like this has happened there. I do not think it is fair for the previous reviewer describe the incident that happened on Friday as a "health concern." If that was the case, any restaurant in Raleigh is a health concern--its just the nature of dining out. I plan to return soon, as I have faith in a restaurant as good as EVOO that they did everything and will continue to do everything in their power to make sure events like this do not happen again!

On Friday night 4/17 around 10PM the Raleigh fire department and multiple EMS units were dispatched to a food pois. incident at the Evoo restaurant in Raleigh. The victims (both at the restaurant as well as at another location on nearby Vance Street after having eaten at Evoo) collapsed and were complaining of breathing difficulty. The incident was so serious that the Wake County medical director was dispatched to the scene, and victims had to be distributed across several nearby hospitals so as to not overwhelm their emergency rooms.

I was not impressed with EVOO. First off there is not much "extra virgin olive oil" embedded with entrees for the name of the restaurant. Rude service, and loud bar. The food is mediocre along with their drinks. Will not be returning.

Last time I was here was a few years ago for my wife's birthday. The food was excellent, service was prompt, and the prices have always been very fair. I had a grilled pork-chop with smashed sweet potatoes. Everything was fantastic. The layout inside is small and inviting, while a bit noisy, not overly so. Highly recommend as a great place to go before a movie in 5-points or having drinks downtown.

We have always liked EVOO, but haven't been in a year or so. We recently went at about 7 on a Thursday night. The establishment has had a very appealing facelift since we last dined there.

Atmosphere: The remodel looks great. Cozy. Nicely done with area rugs and warm colors.

Service: Prompt, attentive, efficient and pleasant

Menu: Big changes since our last visit. For the better. The menu has been pared (or shall I say focused) down from two extensive pages one page of great sounding dishes, from Scottish salmon to meatloaf to pizzas. Fried oysters rockefeller took a little while to arrive, but well worth the wait. Six delicious beauties, each lightly crusted, sitting on a small bed of wilted spinach in a shell. The baby greens salad, accented by a medallion of fried goat cheese, was loaded with thin-sliced apples and shaved almonds, all given the right touch of raspberry vinaigrette. Pan-fried Scottish salmon perfectly melded flavors of the sea, citrus and wilted Swiss chard. The foundation of this plate is lightly mashed sweet potatoes.
Word to the wise: these dishes, while seemingly lighter fare proved to be a bit rich. Especially when paired with a delicious selection from the wine list. We will come back to try dessert.

As we were finishing this great meal, the bar scene was getting cranked up, and so was the smoking. One thing my wife and I don't care for is eating a meal while someone's puffing on a ciggy two tables away. All in all, though, it was a nice dining experience. Glad to see EVOO has stood the test of time.

My husband and I have been to EVOO twice now in the last month and it is really wonderful. Our favorite restaurant in Raleigh right now! The first time we went we had some friends with us and everyone absolutely loved what they ordered. Our friends went back again the next weekend and ordered the same entrees and were not disappointed. We went back on New Years Eve and ordered the same things again as well. The pancetta wrapped chicken is really good and my husband likes the kabob sampler. This place is somewhere you must try!

I went to Evoo last weekend for my 11th anniversary. Let me tell you: the restaurant FAR exceeded any of my expectations. The services was wonderful, the management was very courteous, and the food was EXCEPTIONAL. If you are looking for a quiet restaurant that gives you a place to relax after a hard week of work, this is the place to go!

I ate at Evoo for the first time last night. It will be the last time. I have never experienced service as poor as I did last night. My party arrived at 8:30 pm. We received our drinks 45 minutes later! I have never waited for 45 minutes for a beer in my life! They were somewhat busy, and I would expect to wait for food, but never 45 minutes for a beer! The waiter did not even acknowledge us until we had been waiting for 25 minutes. For the rest of the evening he was intentionally rude, as if to be funny. It was not funny, it was rude. I do not go to a nice establishment to have a waiter be a condescending a-hole. Oh, and in case you still want to go there, just make sure not to sit in Ali's section, unless you like being treated like your IQ is 2. I'd expect better service from the Waffle House!

The ambience was typically trendy, bordering on boring.
My seafood dish, the orrechiete with shrimp smelled like
the bottom of the sea. The shrimp were old & preserved in bleach
for about a month. The pasta was overcooked.
Their Olive Oil is nowhere near Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
But to their defense they never really claim it is,..they just
call themselves EVOO.I definitely do not recommend this place.
It is one of the worst place I've eaten at.
I'm sure though the Raleigh crowd will love it.

My BF and I had heard about EVOO and were excited to try it. Boy were we wrong. We went on a weekday night and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, even with the restaurant 1/2 empty. We ordered the calamarie which was good. The same could not be said for our entrees. My BF asked for his steak medium rare, and it came out well done. My filet minon was cooked correctly, however the asparagus that came with it was still frozen!

When I sent it back, I believe all they did was put it into a microwave and then cover it with peppercorns. And it came back at the end of the meal with our dessert.

Would not recommend.

Had lunch today at EVOO and wanted to warn others about the lunch service. I've never experienced service like that in Raleigh before. We were seated around 12:15pm with one other group (2) seated ahead of us in a different section with a different waitress. There were four other tables in the restaurant occupied with two of them finishing up their meals. We ordered our food around 12:25 (Baby Mixed Greens with pears, walnuts, and gorgonzola, dressed with lemon and EVOO w/ chicken and a Goat cheese salad with shrimp) and began the wait. One of our salads came out about 10 minutes later and sat on the bar until the second joined it around 1:10pm. During the 45-minute wait our waitress was nowhere to be found. Not only did she not come by our table to ask if we needed drinks or to explain the delay, she never came into the dining area. When we received our food we went ahead and asked for our check since we had no idea when we would see her again. She returned the check and our card within a couple of minutes but never came back during the meal to ask if everything was ok. As it turns out the mixed green salad did not have the pears it was supposed to come with. It?s not that the missing pears were such a huge deal, but with everything else it just made the whole lunch have a bad taste. I definitely would not recommend EVOO for lunch ever again.

If I were to recommend a "gem" in the Raleigh area, I would overwhelmingly recommend EVOO. As a repeat customer, I enjoy the changing menu and the always friendly and professional staff; always corteous and conversational. Menu favorites: wood fish, any pasta, steak frittes, and calamri appetizer. Bar staff is knowledgeable and very friendly.

I moved to within walking distance of EVOO three months ago and have visited maybe six times with friends at the bar, brought family for dinner (once), and invited a group of co-workers for lunch (once). The hostess welcome has always been inviting and the bar service has always been superb. I highly recommend the fried oysters appetizer and a Trummer drought, the broiled oyster appetizer and the greek platter appetizer are also very good. Table service for dinner was acceptable but not stand-out on a slow December Friday night, and I found the salmon entree too salty. Monday lunch service for our party of eight was slow (we were only one of two tables seated at the time we ordered). When I asked about our orders after more that thirty minutes we were told "Well, someone ordered the steak. That takes a long time to cook." which singled out one of my guests. My pasta entree was great but several of my guests did not care for their sandwiches. My advice - skip the lunch, sit at the bar for a romantic atmosphere, great service, and great appetizers. When the weather is warm enough there are three or four outside tables which I wish would open on the odd warmer evenings during the colder months.

I am a long time EVOO customer and truly enjoy the atmosphere, food, and wine selection. They have some menu classics you can always rely on but you can never go wrong with the specials as well. It's a perfect spot for entertaining family, a girls night dinner or romantic date!

One thing to be aware of is the acoustics in the left dining room. It can get somewhat loud if there a lot of folks dining but the energy is great!

My husband and I have lived in Raleigh for 2 years and have tried many wonderful Triangle restaurants. We recently had my in-laws join us in Raleigh when they were visiting and were all very pleased with EVOO's menu, food quality, atmosphere, and value! My father-in-law who is quite a critic said it was the BEST restaurant he has dined at in the Triangle since our moving to the area, and with some strong competition! We have taken my in-laws to Sullivans, Michael Deans, Savannah's, Tavern Agora, NoFo, The Duck & Dumpling, Angus Barn, and Fraziers just to name a few since we have lived here! We had a seafood pasta dish, seared duck entree, steakhouse salad, calamari, and my husband had the Carolina Trout entree which was absolutely delicious. The service was great, and the restaurant manager that night even helped us pick out a wonderful white wine!

My friends and I have always enjoyed EVOO at dinner. The constantly changing menu is always innovative and fresh, and we've never ordered anything that hasn't exceeded expectation. But lately, I've been really pleased to see the late night bar scene evolving. It's great to enjoy a fantastic meal, and then hang out with friends at the bar drinking AMAZING martinis and having a great time without the over-priced "meat market" atmosphere of some downtown spots!

Since I moved down from New York last year, Evoo reminds me of home.. The atmosphere is fantastic as well as the food..Service was great. The fish I highly recommend as well as the baby green salad. After finishing the main course there is always room for dessert that gave a wonderful ending to the best meal here in Raleigh.

We arrived at the restaurant at about 1:15. We did not leave until 2:00. This was not due to us visiting or really enjoying the food. 90% of that time was waiting for our food and then once we were done, waiting for our check! If the restaurant had been busy, I might have understood. There were about 5 table total, and we were the only one who had not been served. Would never go there again.

Could not see why this is call a Mediterranean restaurant either. Food choice did not reflect this.

Went to EVOO for my first time this week and I was pleased. The food was good and portion sizes/value were also good, with the exception of the fish special, which was tiny compared to our other dishes. My ONLY complaint is the bread! It was stale, not warm, not fresh. If you've ever been to Italy, the bread served in restaurants is stale, old and not very good. Take the high road, EVOO, and serve some better bread to compliment your good food!

I ordered a cheesesteak for lunch at EVOO, while my friend ordered pumpkin bisque. How to describe this bisque... it was a bowl of orange sludge with pools of oil shimmering on top, in the middle of which was a grayish-brown single lump of something that appeared to be an onion but turned out to be BOILED chicken. The sludge tasted faintly of cinnamon, but little else. It was so disgusting, we sent it back to the kitchen. The one good thing I can say about EVOO is they didn't charge us for it. Then came my cheesesteak sandwich, which was soaking wet on the bottom, and the steak had a very strange musky flavor that was made edible only by copious amounts of cheese. Maybe EVOO is good for dinner and that explains some of the good reviews... but I wouldn't wish a lunch there on anyone.

If you have not been to EVOO in the past 3 months you have not been to EVOO. The Chef is the bomb, there is a whole new menu gota try the SEA BASS or the NEW Bacon Wraped filet, we ate there last night I got the Filet and my wife got the SEA BASS service was great, if you go there ask for Robert to wait on you, wine knowledge a big plus at this place

Pros: FOOD, WINE LIST, HANDS on Chef

.

My wife and I ate here last night for 1st time, I had an extraordinary baked whole striped bass. She had trout and loved it. What makes the fish outstanding is they use a wood-fired oven operating at 700 deg, which makes the fish skin really crispy and the inside juicy. Being interested in duplicating things I like, I asked a few questions about the prep. Bottom line is it's tough to get to 700 at home, good reason to go to a restaurant!

Pros: food, drink prices

.

The food is amazing - fresh and unique. The ambience is great weather you are on a date or there with the whole family. The bar is fun for a late night drink and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Good menu choices both in price and flavor. Give it a try, but during the week.

Went for lunch with co-workers and we all were disappointed. We had long waits for everything, we were scared to ask for a condiment in fear that by the time the waiter came back the food might be cold. The waiter was ok, but he was working every table. We ordered meals that accompanied fries which was ok, but they ran out of ketchup (who would of thought). The coffee was warm and substandard. Aside from that, the pizza and crab cakes were pretty good; however, we won't be going back.

Good name for a great place. You could spend $20 or $80 and have a good meal, great service and you'll want to go back the next night to try the item on the menu you ALMOST ordered. Pizza and wine are options when you don't want to spend a lot, and the salmon wrapped in potato is a splurge but well worth it. Salads are good, but they need apples in mixed green instead of pears. The pears are not sweet enough to offset goat cheese. If you are a vegetarian, you can order chicken pasta and 86 the chicken. Or you can get the angel hair with plum tomatoes. Awesome! I'm glad they are here and plan to return many times!

My husband and I tried EVOO just after they opened. I understand the owners are the same as Bistro 607. We thought the food was plentiful and delicious. The bar is quite nice and having a pizzareia included under the same roof made all the children happy.
