This is now 'Fitness Connection'. I never went when it was Golds, but I don't believe it's changed much. The equipment and employees are fine. My only comment is that, if you go mid-day, there are a lot of elderly and they will camp out

When they say 30 day's notice and you have asked them how to cancel 60 days before you need to and then when 30 days come and you try to cancel. They say well it will actually be 30 days from your next bill date. Thanks for telling me I

I joined this place four months ago. Initially, for the first 15 days every thing was fine. Later on they started charging my credit card twice a month. when i went and asked the manager he said he charged me only once and he has no idea

The gym is in a great location, there is a good amount of equipment around. The Cardio Cinema is nice if you are looking to just have a nice area for running, etc. However, when you stop into the locker rooms things kind of change.

Terrible service signed up in December for the no joining fee 4 personal training sessions per month deal at $125 per month! Sounds good but heres the problem they never had a trainer there to train with me! I trained for 2 sessions with one trainer then he left and went to the Gold's at North Hills wanting continuity I drove to Raleigh train with him until he left the company altogether because the working conditions were so terrible. Then I called (no one ever called me even after leaving several messages) got a new trainer he lasted for less than a month at Cary before he quit also not even bothering to inform me that he was leaving or trying to set me up with yet another trainer so I go in for my training session no trainer, multiple calls to management went unanswered finally went in to cancel membership 6-10 filled out the form was told manager was not in so they couldn't give me a copy of the form until he signed it, fast forward 3 months they are still billing trying to say that I have been training with one of their trainers and that they did not get cancellation form until 8-2010 which is quite a feat since I was in Panama on a mission trip on the day that I supposedly went in to sign the form got the passport to prove it so now I have to take these incompetent jokers to court. They not only failed to provide the service contracted for but they forged a document and tampered with a legal contract! Stay Far away from this place and these people their business is going down the tubes and they are trying to get as much money as they can from people prior to that. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY ACCOUNT INFO THEY ARE LIARS & SWINDLERS & THEY WILL BILL YOU UNTIL YOU CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT OR SUE THEM BOTH OF WHICH I HAVE TO DO!! STAY CLEAR OF THIS ONE. BAD EQUIPMENT BAD PEOPLE BAD CHOICE FOR YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!

We joined Gold's again, reluctantly I must admit, for two reasons. FIrst, as I travel so much for work, the Gold's Travel Pass gains me access to gyms all over the country for free. Second, as Kristi is preparing for her first PRO qualifying competition, she will be in the gym multiple times each day, and this location is very close to home.
Our reluctance to join was due to our experinece at the other Gold's clubs in town. These ridiculous clubs were built simply to sell memberships and everything from the equipment, built for comfort (not results), to the clientel, screams get me to happy hour. But why go to happy hour, when you workout at these clubs you are at happy hour. Good luck ever making any real progress!
Mike at the Cary location treated us with respect; there is nothing worse than being toured by someone who has been in a gym for 6 months trying to explain how to get in shape to someone who has been in the gym scene for over 25 years. Mike did a nice job!
Overall, from the equipment to the atmosphere, to the location, this has become our new favorite GYM.
You should check it out, and stop by and checkout kristibruceonline(DOT COM) as well!
Pros: Finally a gym built for results not sales!
Cons: The "other"Gold's in town are not the same as this.

The equipment and classes in this gym are okay, but from day one I felt like I was getting ripped off. When I first asked about membership, they told me it was $42/month, but when I came back in to sign the paperwork, it said $42.99, which is $43 in my book. But, I figured it was only a dollar, so I went ahead and signed up. Then, I found out I would have to pay $5 extra per month if I wanted to use any other Gold's Gym in the Triangle. They never mentioned that when I asked about membership - told me I could use any Gold's gym around the world. Now, I've moved across town so I wanted to cancel my membership. The contract says I need to give 30 days notice. I called the 1-800 number for Gold's gym and they said I needed to physically go to my home gym to fill out the paperwork to cancel. I drove across town and filled out the paperwork on January 18. The front desk staff told me my membership would end February 18, so I didn't even try to go for most of the month. I ended up getting billed for the whole month of February. I called to complain and was told that the 30 days notice depends on your billing cycle, which could either be on the 1st or 15th of the month. So, effectively, you have to give 6 weeks notice at least. Front desk staff are friendly but give out wrong information. I gave them 2 stars because the classes are good and the location used to be convenient for me.

I joined Gold's Gym awhile ago but at the North Hills location. I love that gym but recently moved to the Cary area and went into the club to check it out. This place is spot less. I love the Cardio Cinema that they have there and the club is in a very nice part of town that is easy to get to. I was surprised to find out that since I used to be a member of Gold's in the past that I received a HUGE discount for coming back. I cancelled previously at North Hills because I wanted to check out Lifetime but once I got over there it was a meat market and the most crowded gym I've ever seen. Not to mention when I went in to workout I felt like cattle as the herded me past the front counter. Needless to say I'm back at Gold's where I love. Thank you for the wonderful gym you provide me.

Pros: Not expensive and they are super nice

Cons: that there are not more locations out there like this one in Cary

After being a member of the club on and off for 10 years, I tried to cancelled my membership when I was moving away from grad school. I submitted the form and documents as requested. The club committed to cancel my membership in August. In September, they were still charging my debt card. I called the club. They claimed not to have a record of my registration paperwork and made me resubmit everything. In the meantime, they kept charging my account. Although I dont keep paperwork, I did in this case because my brother had had a similar issue over the summer and several friends who we had referred to the club also had to deal with a lot of hassle when cancelling their memberships. I resent the paperwork and a few weeks later the club followed up with me saying that they would reimburse only partially, because they proof that I sent the second time around was dated august. I finally got a hold of the regional manager, Dom Routh who once again confirmed his decision to reimburse for Oct and Nov only because my proof was dated Aug. What happed to Sep? I never got an answer because he hung up the phone on me and threatened me not to call the club again. I never got an answer for when they will stop charging my card or when they will reimburse what was promise... not to mentioned why they breach their contract. If this was not a small amount of money I would seek a lawyer. I feel powerless and have not been able to pay attention in classes this week due to the amount of distress that the management of gold's gym has caused. I do not wish this treatment to any customers... specially those who paid membership fees for almost 10 years.

I love to workout, but I have had such bad experiences with gyms in the past that I gave up. I finally decided to give the gym another shot. I researched many gyms in the Cary and Raleigh area, but none offered as much as Golds gym. When I went in for a consultation Andrew was not pushy at all, he made me feel at home from the moment I entered the door. They gave me a great rate, and many bonuses. Since having a membership I have been to the gym nearly everyday, and every time I walk through that door there is always a welcoming greeting. The classes are also awesome, the instructors keep me motivated and ready for more. I am proud to say I love this gym!!!!!

I belong to Gold's Gym and usually go to the Durham location. I stopped by the Cary location to work out, and was mildly disappointed. The space is extremely small. No towel service. While they do have up-to-date equipment, everything is so sandwiched together that there is no sense of division between areas. For anyone who likes at least a tiny bit of space when they work out, I'd recommend a different branch. It was a clean facility, but an appropriate label would be to call it 'Gold's Express', or 'Gold's Lite'.
