Tried the Sushi bar for the first time (did not know we had one in Rocky Mount for the longest time). It's easy to see why Ichiban is best food in Rocky Mount. Sushi was absolutely delicious. The sushi chef is an artist! And the sushi bar's waiter serves every customer as if they were royalty. Very high class place. Will definitely be coming back!

I love Japanese Steakhouses and this one does not disappoint! You can count on good food and good service here! I find the prices to be very reasonable as well.

Unlike Kanki, we didn't have to wait for an hour + to be seated (and last time we went to Kanki the chicken wasn't cooked done!). We were seated and waited on promptly. The food was awesome (Hibachi shrimp, Teriyaki Steak)--cooked well, the chef was friendly/entertaining. I was a bit skeptical because he wasn't a Japanese chef, but the food was definitely up to par! Definitely recommend going here--reasonable prices for a Japanese steakhouse, good cocktails, not so good beer selection.

Pros: Attentive waitstaff, entertainment, tasty eats

Cons: Interior could use some updating

Okay, Ichiban has a surprisingly awesome sushi bar. It's tiny, but the chef there is AMAZING. He makes his own ponzu sauce, eel sauce, cooks his own ebi (shrimp), and orders really high quality fish. The sushi is amazing. I almost always just eat sashimi, nigiri or order a chirashi but the specialty rolls are numerous and they're unbeatable. It's not like most sushi specials where the rolls are almost all identical and just modified shrimp tempura rolls.

The teppan side is decent, too. I mean, the quality of the food is actually pretty good and you get noodles with your entre! Yum. I love the noodles. They don't have like, udon, just spaghetti noodles, but they're cooked hibachi style and they're sooo gooood. The carrots at lunch are bangin, too.

It's hands down the best restaurant in Rocky Mount (which isnt saying much, I know) but seriously, if you go and eat the sushi there you'll be a fan for life.

I don't eat here a lot because it is expensive (too me)! For two adults and a child we spent about $50, which is about double what we usualy spend at a nice steak restaurant, but worth it for a special occassion, like a birthday or something. You sit around this open grill while your chef prepares your food in front of you. The guy at our table must have been a seasoned veteran at doing these cooking tricks. He would cut the tails off of the shrimp and pop them up in the air with his spatula and catch them in his hat, while still cooking. Just a great show, which you're waiting. Plus, they did have a sushi bar as well, but I personally don't eat it.

When my girlfriends and I go out for a "Girls Night" we choose Ichiban, it's nice to go and have some great food and drinks but the tricks the cook does at your table are excellent. Everyone there is very friendly. Now it's not the cheapest place to go but the prices aren't bad at all..

PROS: Super cool place with great food.
CONS: None
