.

I've been to around 10+ salons between Raleigh, Durham, Cary, and Chapel Hill over the past 6 years, and I've always paid around $120 to $160 for Highlights and a cut and been pretty satisified. However, I was highly satisfied with the service at Stylus and the price can't be beat.

I'm not sure how this salon was rated a 7.1. I first went to the salon after seeing a girl in a restaurant with a great hair cut. I went up to her and even took a picture of her hair, b/c she had the cut I was wanting, the cut that so many European women have, but stylists I've been to in the US can never seem to do. The cut is for longer hair, has long layers and the ends come to a V.. not straight across. She told me she goes to Mary at Stylus Studio.

I called right away and scheduled an appointment. The person who answered wasn't Mary and her English was pretty good, and I made my first appt. I was a little concerned going there that there would be a communication disconnect, however, Mary is extremely kind and speaks very good English. I showed her the picture as well which always helps with any stylist. She knew exactly what I wanted and took her time and gave me the best cut I've ever received. She then flat ironed my hair to style it which I really liked, and my hair felt like silk when I was leaving. I will definitely be going back. She is remodeling her salon, so it was under contruction when I went at the end of February (07), so she wasn't charging full price. I was shocked at how low the price of the cut was!! Unheard of for a haircut like that!!

Pros: Very friendly, very skilled, and budget friendly

Cons: Salon is being remodeled, but it didn't bother me. It isn't a high profile salon.
