Had dinner there last nite. The food was just OK. The waitress was definitely a "newbe". She was very uncomfortable in this job for some reason. I had a Ruben Sandwich - menu stated something like "THE BEST RUBEN EVER", well, honey, I'd like to show you what a Ruben should be. I could take you to Arby's and their Ruben is superior to what I had. The "fries" were horrid, they were not real potato fries, just instant pushed thru a machine to form the shape of fries.
I have been there in the past, and thought the food was 'good', something has changed...Also, the appetizer of 6 cheese sticks was over $7.00, A BIT HIGH even in todays economy.
Go over to Ruddy Ducks, there food has always been good or really excellent.

Service started off very slow, waitress explained why service was so slow not enough people although there seemed to be plenty for the amount of people. Food was a mixed bag the shrimp was okay (fresh atleast) but of 2 ruebens ordered both were dry the fries were good but the so called garlic mashed potatos were instant with maybe a dash of garlic powder (they SUCKED) I would have expected more from what they advertise. Owner was very rude and adament that they were fresh potatos, but when put on the spot to show us just a fresh potato, he dodged and became very uncomfortable and never did even try to rectify the situation. I expected more, and would not reccomend Raps to anyone, to bad for a 25 year establishment. I really think the owner/ owners and manager have lost their passion and just depend on duping tourists that dont know any better to make ends meet.

Pros: Kind of the wait staff, the building.

Cons: MANAGEMENT, Food

.

The food in ok. The waitresses are great. The MANAGEMENT is where it seems the problem lies. From what I can tell there are 4 managers. The owner (an older gentlemen) who sits in the corner and never once leaves his chair to visit the customers table to see how dinner goes, but she sure knows how to reprimand the wait staff where people can hear. The you have the 2 younger men (apparently brothers) who stand at the end of the bar the entire time and if they are not eating, drinking an alcoholic beverage or chatting with the regular drunks then they are not there. They NEVER smile or act like they enjoy their job and from the sounds of it from the wait staff they aren't pleasant, professional or polite. The 4th and most in your face type of management is the blonde woman. She is loud, obnoxious, unprofessional, crude, rude and the language she uses to speak to the wait staff is borderline sailor talk. Not one of the waitresses that have waited on my table like her it seems, they feel the need to tell me apparently. I used to go in there all the time and loved it, but in the past year the place has gone down hill and from what I can tell it is all MANAGEMENT. I won't be frequenting Raps again since the Olive Garden will soon open up and I know there management and staff have a standard to be held to and Buffalo Wild Wings is quite pleasant and fun. I wouldn't go into Raps if you despise drama, you can cut the tention with a knife!!

This was the most uncomfortable I have ever been in any restaurant ever. The food was okay, just that. The appetizer took thirty minutes to get there, while we never complained, the waitress felt the need to badmouth both the kitchen and her manager stating after twenty minutes that they hadn't even started to prepare it. She did this several times before the appetizer came. Our dinner came shortly after and my husband ordered soup, which never came. Both of us have been restaurant managers and know how easy it is to forget a side order here or there, and thought little of it. He asked her for the soup and she told him she would go get it. She walked to a table the manager was visiting and chat with them for about five minutes. The manager left and in passing asked if everything was okay. We asked about the soup. She looked at our waitress, who was still chatting at the table and asked her about it. Our waitress said she would get it and kept chatting. Two or three minutes later she walked past us, presumably to get the soup and in a gruff tone said, "You'll get your soup!" Fifteen minutes later, no soup, and the manager walked by and noticed, she expressed concern and even anger at the waitress. She said she was going to have the waitress right up to apologize, but all we needed was the soup. Our waitress came with soup, berating the kitchen and telling us her manager was having PMS and was getting upset at her because we were mad. What an awkward position to be put in!
She left and the manager came back, essentially trash talking her, and telling us that we should not tip her, because she needed to be taught and that is how you train a waitress. (I thought it was management who trained, by setting a great example and developing service standards, but maybe I am wrong.) And she tells us that when she comes back, with our waitress that she would appreciate it if we would be honest. She told us that she would be bringing our waitress to our table to be criticized face to face, without so much considering that this was terrible awkward, in poor taste, rude, and also imposing on our evening as we were visiting a friend. That friend left right away, not wanting to deal with the awkward confrontation, and the manager brought her over to our table to tell her how terrible she was in front of us, then suggesting that we did not tip.We never complained, we just asked for the food we ordered and we were drug into a situation where we had to mediate between an incompetent server and a person who has no business directing people as a profession. (Praise publicly, criticize privately.)

This may have been the most uncomfortable I have ever been in any restaurant ever. The food was... okay... just that. The appetizer took at least thirty minutes to get there, and while we never complained, the waitress felt it was necessary to badmouth both the kitchen and her manager stating after twenty minutes that they hadn't even started to prepare it.. She did this several times before the appetizer came. Our dinner came shortly after and my husband ordered soup, which was not delivered. Both of us have been restaurant managers and know very well it is easy to forget a side order here or there, and thought little of it. He asked her for the soup and she told him she would go get it. She then walked straight up to another table the manager was visiting and had a chat with them for about five minutes. The manager left and in passing asked if everything was okay. We asked about the soup. She looked at our waitress, who was still chatting at the table and asked her about it. Our waitress said she would get it and kept chatting. Two or three minutes later she walked past us, presumably to get the soup and in a gruff tone said, "You'll get your soup!"
Fifteen minutes later, no soup, and the manager walked by and noticed, she expressed concern and even anger at the waitress.
She said she was going to have the waitress right up to apologize, but all we needed was the soup.
Our waitress came up, soup in hand, trash talking the kitchen crew, she then started telling us about how her manager was having PMS and was getting very upset at her because we were upset. What an awkward position to be put in!
She left and the manager came back, essentially trash talking her, and telling us that we should not tip her, because she needed to be taught and that is how you train a waitress. She informed us that she would be bringing our waitress to our table to be criticized face to face, without so much considering that this was terribly awkward, in poor taste, rude, and also imposing on our evening as we were visiting a friend.
That friend left immediately afterwords, not wanting to deal with the awkward confrontation, and the manager brought her over to our table to tell her how terrible she was in front of us, then suggesting that we did not tip.
The truth is, we never complained, we just asked for the food we ordered and we were drug into a situation where we had to mediate between an incompetent server and a person who has no business directing people as a profession. (Praise publicly, criticize privately.) This was a terrible experience. I will not be returning.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, lots of menu options.

Cons: Poorly Managed, rude service, and long waits on food.

The waitress was perfect! The manager told me with a personal letter that if i do not give her a GREAT tip, then my party need's to leave. I complained to the owner, as the manager quit, when i wanted to talk to the owner. The owner was yelling at me and my party, for what his manager DID! Then two of my party, told him there is no reason for you raising your voice at us. The owner basically said if you want my restaurant you can have it, as he was walking away!

On an average night with hardly any other customers inside, we sat and waited on our food for almost an hour and a half.

The waitress made excuse after excuse then finally brought out our appetizer, with our meal!

It was only me, my wife our 10yr old and our 2yr old. We had no special requests for how the food should be made. We ordered, sat there and watched a family (or groupd) of 6 come in, be seated, order alot more than we had ordered, eat and leave before we were ever given ours.

And of course, right as you decide to get up and leave, here comes the food. So we sat and tried to eat. The food right off the bat tasted like the cheap stuff you buy in the back of a local grocery store. Once our food was brought out, I never saw our waitress again. So no drink refills, no nothing. Had to grab another waitress to find ours and send her back with our check.

Too bad its mandatory to give a star rating, because I would love to leave a 0.

Cons: Bad food, slow service, pricey, poor seating arrangement

Never Eat There!!!!!! That pretty much sums up the restaurant. I know first hand why, since I have worked there. I never ate there while I worked there and will never go back and eat there. If food is dropped on the floor in the kitchen it is washed off because the owners are so cheap and money hungry. Food is not good, and they will charge you for anything extra like cheese, ranch, extra olives for a drink and etc.

I've been in Raps twice and both times was totally disappointed with the way I was treated by the same two bar tenders and their so called manager. I've owned my own bar and have never treated my customers the way these jerks treat people. I was there last night for a friends birthday. She called ahead and ask if she should make reservations. They told her only if she had a party of 20 or more. When we got there some of our party had already gotten a table. Well apparently since w were not seated by one of their wait staff they told us we had to move. The place wasn't full. Many open tables. We went to the bar to wait for a table. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and never got a table. While at the bar I bought three shots. It cost me $18 dollars. The shots were not top shelf. I politely asked the bar tender why the shots were so much. Well that was apparently enough of reason to go to her "manager". He came over and told me I was cursing at his bartenders. Totally not true. He was actually trying to start something with me. I twice turned away from him and ignored him. He continued to try to start something. I have never in my life been at a place where they treat their paying customers so rudely and will never go there again. The place isn't all that to begin with. We all got up and went over to The Ice house. They seated us immediately and we all had wonderful meals and wee treated very well by their wait staff. We all enjoyed magic by Chuck and our waitress, Melody, was great.

Raps offers an extensive menu but nothing is really spectacular. Good place to come with a group of people who are wanting different things, but don't expect five star food. Restaurant building itself is neat -- two-stories, right on Arendell street.

Rap's often has a lot of advertisement but I didn't think it was all it was cracked up to be. Prices were okay but the food wasn't great. It's the atmosphere that sells b/c once you're in there it feels like a bigger city place with small town on the side. Service was just okay. I'd go back but don't go there just because of what you hear or you'll be disappointed.

This place is terrific! I go to Raps on average about three times a month. I have never gotten the same thing twice, and I have never been dissatisfied with whatever it was I ordered. The service is fast and dependable; I've never gone long with an empty beer or sodapop. The servers are very friendly and really mean it when they ask how my day is! I will continue to go to this restaurant three or four times a month, and hopefully I'll get the chance to taste all of their wonderful food!
