I made a visit to Vertical Urge today, this was a second chance after a bad experience in early summer. When I informed the OWNER Todd about the experience he stated that he knew about it and BLAMED me for not contacting him about it and for bringing my business to other local skateboard shops in the meantime. He was aggressive, confrontational, and accused me of threatening him when I informed him that the previous experience had driven my money away from his shop. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO CUSS AT ME IN FRONT OF CHILDREN SHOUTING ""F@#% YOU"" AS I WALKED OUT THE DOOR!!! This to me is unacceptable and proves he does not care about individuals or families and PROVED HE DOES NOT NEED YOUR BUSINESS SO YOU SHOULD TAKE BUSINESS TO PLACES THAT DO NEED IT. I have never been treated this way in a customer service scenario before in my life! The fact that he had no problem saying the F-word to me in front of parents and children shows complete disrespect to everyone of his customers and proved that any good experience someone may have is merely because of an act being put on. IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILDREN EXPOSED TO PROFANITY OR TO BE TREATED WITH COMPLETE DISRESPECT TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. My suggestion would be Delicious Skate Shop in Wake Forest (which also has an indoor/ outdoor skate park) or Endless Grind downtown Raleigh. I have had great experiences at both of theses shops.

Some friends and I were planning a snowboarding trip to Mammoth over here in California. It was time for a new snowboard so I researched and shopped online for a few weeks. After I knew what I wanted I found that Vertical Urge came up with the best prices! (Not to mention free shipping!) So I placed an order about a week before our road trip up to the mountain, anticipating barely enough time for the board to be delivered.\n\nThe next morning I got a call and an email from Ben Hazard because I had moved recently and my shipping and credit card address didn't match. Ben was kind enough to make sure there wasn't any fraudulent activity going on, which is already awesome customer service. Going out of his way for a mistake on my part... It doesn't stop there. I called him back late in the day after the daily truck had shipped out and explained to him that I was going on that Mammoth trip and was hoping the board would come in time. After going through all of the faster shipping options which he agreed was too expensive he offered to expedite it to UPS himself. So he packed up the board, wrapped it up (to protect it from the rain), threw it in the back of his truck, and drove all the way to the other side of town to the UPS shipping hub. To top it off he even made the UPS lady promise it would be on the truck that night! AMAZING customer service. Ben really went the extra mile for me, without ever even meeting me in person.\n\nAnd... The the package made it just in time for my trip to Mammoth. I ordered a Burton Hero V with Mission bindings and I could not be happier. The board rides like a dream and has completely changed my riding game. Seriously, Ben and Vertical Urge made my trip a million times better. Thank you guys!

We are lucky enough to live very close to Vertical Urge. Actually I have bought my son skate shoes in the store, they have a discount table toward the back that we always take a look at. If you have a skateboarder you know how fast they burn through shoes so every little bit helps. We have also bought several boards, trucks, wheels and bearings there. They have everything one would need for skateboarding.

The skate park portion of Vertical Urge is called Project 58 and they are next door to each other. My son has been a member there for several years now, it's practically his second home. The skate park is pretty good according to my skater, it's kind of small IMO and on Sat. the place can get so packed that he comes home because it's difficult to skate with so many people there. They just reopened today 2/13/09 after remodeling the park but we've not been to see the new layout yet.

They have a small snack bar up front and if you go often it's usually cheaper to get a membership. Helmets are required but no other pads required. You go for a session at a time usually 5-6 hours long. Go check out their website for pictures and all the details you need.

My fiance dragged me into this store recently. He has been going there and likes to look around. He used to be a skateboarder when he was younger, so I think he enjoys revisiting his youth. Even though I'm not a skateboarder I love their winter hats (or toboggans as I've heard around here). It would be a great store for a parent with a child wanting to explore skateboarding.

I went to the six forks location for the first time & i was very impressed. my friend & i were looking for some snow boarding gear. we are both beginners & had pretty much no idea what to look for as far as quality & fit. Ben helped us for about 3 hours. he went out of his way to help understand the features on the equipment we were looking to purchase. having a budget to stick to was no problem & didnt affect the quaility of service or gear we received. also they have a lay-a-way plan. i would tell anyone who is looking for snow or skate gear to go to Vertical Urge!
