I have 4 personal pets, I'm active in animal rescue, and I used to work at a vet's office, so I have visited and am very familiar with many of the veterinarians in the Charlotte area. Independence Veterinary Clinic is leaps and bounds

I went to this place by accident when my new puppy needed to be seen ASAP on a busy Friday afternoon that my other vet couldn't fit me in.. we called Independence vet and we explained our situation they said to come right in they didn't have any scheduled appointments but they could work us in. When we got there, I couldn't believe how clean the place was. It smelled so good like a bakery instead of a vet. I have been to tons of doctors recently and this animal clinic was cleaner than anything I had been to for myself.

The receptionist was sweet, greeted us and opened the door...who does that anymore??? All the staff loved on our puppy. They were actually pet people, rather than when you feel sterile and like people really could care less about your animal. Our vet was a woman (I can't remember her name at the moment) but she was great. She was gentle, sweet and informative. We felt comfortable there and so did our puppy. He never even squealed during his shots.

Although we haven't had extensive work done here yet, I will definitely be going back for the rest of his immunization shots and to be neutered. It was really comforting to get so lucky in finding such a great vet.

UPDATE: Our vet's name is Dr. Michelle and she is absolutely amazing. I mean, I seriously love her. Our pup just got neutered, got all of his shots done, got a microchip, etc and came out of surgery just fine. They are absolutely wonderful there. She answers every question I could possibly come up with and she genuinely loves what she does. They even fill out your pet insurance claims and send them out for you, if you have a service like that. The staff and our doctor are fantastic and give me peace of mind when taking something I love so much to the vet. They are wonderful and I love that forums like this give people a chance to let others know that.

When we moved here 30 years ago we took our dog to Dr. Beck at IVC. He was wonderful and we had many years of good service. When my 15 year old dog had to be put to sleep he had been her only vet and he was compassionate. \r

My 12 year old shepherd mix went in for her yearly exam and bloodwork with the tall woman vet. I assumed that a yearly exam would cover most major areas, especially considering that she is a senior pup...I mean, I purchased their crazily priced senior program where I have to take her in every 6 months for bloodwork instead of once per year, (which is almost as bad as a contract with Banfield...I mean, call me once, call me twice, but every stinking month to "remind" me I needed to come spend more money!?) I decided I was tired of being pestered and asked them to please stop calling me and chose a vet a little further down the road. This year when I took her in for her exam and bloodwork, the doctor found and entire HOLE of rot in one of her back teeth, and a piece had broken completely off on the other side! I was advised there would have been major signs of decay a year ago, but for some reason it didn't come up at her visit to Independence Veterinary Clinic. She's scheduled to have 2 back teeth removed with a different practice...and she's 13 now. Thanks for nothing, I had to start at square one anyway. Money hungry, tacky, and fake.

We have been using this clinic since moving to Charlotte 13 years ago. The former owner took care of our Shar Pei, and now we have a pug. The staff is always very nice and helpful, and seems to really care for the animals and the owners, too! We always look forward to seeing them when it is time for a check-up. Thankfully our dog does not get sick very often, but when it does happen we do not worry because we know they wil take great care of him. They also help us by calling us on the same day each month so we do not forget to give our dog his heartworm medicine, which is very nice and helpful. All of the vets and staff members are so nice and caring, and we are thankful to have such great doctors (and great people) to take care of our little guy.

We have been bringing out pets to IVC for many years, long before the current owners purchased the clinic several years ago, and we could not be any happier with this practice. Before the practice was purchased by the new owners, we had young and healthy dogs and did not need go to the vet very often. When the Drs. Bryan bought the clinic our dogs started getting older and since then we see them what seems like every week! Each of the doctors is so caring and compassionate, in addition to being a skilled veterinarian. They treat our animals as if they were their own. The staff could not be any nicer or friendlier. They always greet us by name and know the names of each of our pets. Everyone takes a real interest our "babies" and is genuinely concerned when they are ill. They call to follow up the day after any one of the animals has been in for a visit to see how they are feeling, and the call us every month to remind us to give heartworm protection. I also like that they do things for the community, like gather donations of food for those that need assistance, raise money for the American Cancer Society, and offer Pet CPR and First Aid classes, to name a few.
They are a great group of people that really go above and beyond the call of duty. We have had pets for many, many years, and have been to a number of clinics in that time, but since we moved to Charlotte we have been loyal clients of IVC and would not dream of going anywhere else. We are also involved in dog rescue, and I am so loyal to this clinic that I take my rescue dogs here and pay for their care out of my own pocket, instead of using the vet the rescue group uses and would pay for.
We would not dream of going to any other clinic in Charlotte, and hope the owners never move, because we might have to follow them! I do not think that our very old dogs (12, 13 and 13) would be here if it were not for the excellent care they have received from the doctors and staff at IVC!

We bring our pug to this clinic and have always had wonderful experiences. They have been so good to us and our dog. Anytime he has been sick they were quick to get him back on his feet again. Everyone that works here is so caring and compassionate. They greet us and our dog by name and are genuinely interested in how we and our dog are doing. We are so pleased with the service and care we have received here and would not even think of taking our dog anyone else. We highly recommend this clinic!

We have been using IVC for many years, long before the current owners purchased the clinic several years ago. We were so sad to the Dr. Beck go, but were completely thrilled with the new owners once we got to know them. I see that there is only one reviewer that did not give them 5 stars, and based on the post, it is a disgruntled former employee. How often do you see a business with all 5 star ratings from clients? Please do not let that one bad review factor into your decision about using this clinic. I have referred everyone I know with pets to this clinic and cannot think of one negative thing to say about them. Everyone I know loves taking their pets there. Please read the reviews of the clients, as that will tell the real story!

Cons: No cons, but I wish they were open ALL the time!

I have been a pet owner for many years. I am a native of Charlotte and have had the opportunity to work with many clinics in the past. I have been fortunate in my search to have found the best. The Doctors at this clinic are highly compassionate, giving their very best at every visit, be it routine or emergency. I travel a great distance to take my animals for their visits, passing up many clinics along the way and will continue to do so as long as Drs. Bart and Michelle Bryan and Dr. Long continue to practice.

I've had multiple pets for many years which means something is usually going on with one of them. Drs Michelle, Bart and Melissa are truly the best vets I've ever had. They are never too busy to listen, always willing to explain options, friendly, caring, and helpful beyond belief. The staff at this clinic is amazing!! From the minute you walk in the door you know you and your pet are special. I can't say enough good things about Independence Vet Clinic...they are like family and when a pet is sick you need "family." I drive all the way from Waxhaw which on a good day is thrity-five minutes and it's worth every single mile.

I have 7 dogs and 2 cats; each time I take one of my fur kids for their exams, surgeries etc, they are treated like the only pets that exist in the world. All the girls are wonderful and I absolutely have no bias about which veterinarian, Dr. Michelle, Dr. Bart or Dr. Long sees my babies as they are ALWAYS attentive, accomodating and caring.
My newest addition, a puppy, went for her first check up and vaccines last week. Going to a vet can be rather traumatic the first time. There were so many rubs, treats and kisses, my baby had no idea that she got vaccinated or a fecal!
Simply the BEST. Caring, sweet, educated (they have training EVERY week); all around animal lovers!

Independence Veterinary Clinic is not only knowledgeable, ready and willing to help even if you call the day you want to go in, but they are friendly, kind and empathetic to both you and your pets. When my dog had a stomach problem that caused him to throw up constantly and I called the clinic. They told me to come in immediately and I was seen moments after I arrived. The doctor, treated Jack, gave him something for his pain and then called me for the next two days after wards to make sure that he was doing better and to answer any questions I may have about his at home treatment. The staff understand your needs and will inform you of prices of treatment, medication and will let you know what you can do at home to avoid extraneous costs. This is where the empathy for you comes in! I highly recommend this clinic to those with animals. With a huge waiting area, water, candy, chips, coffee, etc.. for you.. and treats for you pets, this place caters to humans and animals alike. I so recommend this place just try it out for yourself!!

The doctors and staff at IVC have cared for my cats for about two years but last summer made me a life-long fan. One of my cats developed an intestinal blockage that required surgery. Dr. Michelle offered to do the surgery on a Saturday and then take the cat home with her so she could monitor him over the weekend. Her staff offered to stay late on Saturday to assist with the surgery. Over the weekend, she called me and sent me pictures of my cat so that I would know he was recovering well. I've never received such personalized, caring service from any business and, as a result, IVC is stuck with me and my pets for good!

We have been taking our dog and two cats to Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart since they bought the clinic in 2004. We have been so impressed with their caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff and doctors. You really have to just call or walk in to experience the difference. They always know my name and our pets names, and are so helpful getting us seen. We rarely have to wait and they really seem to care about our pets. Once you go there, you will never want to leave...no matter how far the drive!

I have many pets including cats, dogs, rabbits etc. The staff at IVC have been nothing but the best for my critters. They are all smiles helping you through the front door and showing how much they care about your animals. Dr Michelle, Dr Long and Dr Bart truly care about you and your pet. It is easy to ask questions and discuss treatment with them. The girls in the rooms and at the desk are always helpful. I have been through three other vets since I moved here over 3 years ago. The other vets didn't even return phone calls and acted like it was ok for you to wait in the room for an hour before they got to you. This happened over and over again at 2 vets offices in town. I am so glad that I found IVC and am glad that I am treated like a client and not a cattle call. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I was so impressed with the treatment at Independence Vet Clinic. I have four animals that are clients at IVC and they are great with all of them. Recently my cat went in for a possible intestinal blockage. Rather than rush to surgery, Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart carefully treated and monitored her for several days. Surgery was avoided and she is in great health. They were great with her and followed up with me to make sure things were back to normal and she was having no problems. The staff are always caring and positive and know their clients by heart. You are always met with a greeting and helped to your car with that awkward cat carrier. Dr. Michelle and Dr. Bart are clearly up to date on medical knowledge and use the current methods including vaccination methods for the animals. I found this clinic through helping a friend with her newly found stray cat. Although I had been with my old vet clinic for over 20 years I was so impressed by the high level of care and knowledge I switched my pets and have been happy at IVC for several years.

I have four animals (2 cats, 2 dogs) who are patients at Independence Vet Clinic and have been impressed by the amazing level of care that they have received. One had a potential intestinal blockage and they carefully monitored but did not rush to do surgery. Thankfully, with their treatment, no surgery became necessary and Abbie is back in perfect health. They check in on you after treatment to make sure that all is going well for your pet and see if the owner has any questions. I had been a patient at another clinic in Charlotte for 20 years but found them through a friend's recommendation (and their help with her newly found stray). I happily switched all my animals to this clinic because of their high level, positive, and caring service that they provide. I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic!

Everyone here is fantastic! They know who you are when you walk in and always have smiles and warm belly rubs for my pets. I did feel the price was a bit steap for my german shepard, but that's not too bad for my pet's health. I would recommend them to all of my friends, family, and pet owners!

This practice is exactly as we rated them World Class. They took care of our Golden Retriever puppy with a seizure disorder with compassion and expertise. They worked closely with the neuro. that we had at Carolina Vet specialists and were available whenever we needed them. The staff all have huge hearts for the work that they do and they give so much of themselves when things dont go as hoped. Bella is gone now but these Dr.'s and their staff will be our vet forever.

I will miss him when he is gone as he is retiring. I just love each and every person at this clinic. I have taken 6 dogs to have their checkups and could not even begin to count the kitties that have had their work done on them. The staff is loving and caring to all that come in the door. I even picked up a stray there one day. The place is clean and neat and I would just say all around the VERY BEST ever. My parents have used them for about 15 years and I have used them for the last 10. It is a sad thing to loose a good doc but I am sure the replacement will be just as good.
