I went there today and there were 10 people waiting, but only three braiders were ready to work. They had to call other braiders to get up and come braid head. Where they do that at? Aint nobody got time for that. I waited for one hr for braiders to come and noone came in and then I walked out. One good thing was the receptionist was very sweet and trying to explain that the other workers were coming. I come to work on time ready to work everyday.

I went to the place actually Yesterday.. Everything was GREAT until the end.. I was touching my hair trying to get it out of my face and the Lady Yelled at me in French.. and Pushed my hair back so I couldn't touch it. She and the other workers then started talking about me in French.. I personally don't know French, but I could tell they were talking about me!!! They have nasty attitudes and are very rude!!! I got home and my hair started to unravel and one came out!!! 180 Is worth WAY MORE then what they OFFER

If you are looking to get your hair braided and it turn out very professional and not take all day , I suggest you go here. I personally do not mind the braiders speaking in French to each other. My micros were done in 3.5 hours with two braiders working on my hair and the turned out great.

I have read some of the comments posted about this business and I have to admit that I agree. I went to the shop on Capital Blvd. I was there along with 3 other women when they opened the doors. They allowed us in and just left us standing there without acknowledging us for a good ten minutes. Then someone whom I assumed was the manager came and opened the register and asked the first lady in line what style she wanted and the next and so on. We were required to pay up front (no style short of $160). The other braiders were taking their time eating while we just sat there and waited. Finally they were done eating and lazily dragged their asses over to start working after a good 30 minutes had passed. One lady was left sitting and waiting and no word on why. She asked what the deal was and was told that the person who will braid her hair is on the way and it should be just a few minutes. This lady sat there for an hour before someone showed up and when she did show up, she had food which she sat down and ate before doing anything. After she was done eating, she went to the back to get the hair needed for the customer's style. They were all out of that type of hair so the customer had to wait some more while her braider went out to buy more. It was Sunday so most stores were closed and the closest one was some distance away. All the while this lady just sat and sat and waited. They offered no apologies, no discount, no refund or any kind of consolation. I too can speak and understand french. They were laughing and talking about sex, about the customers, and negatively about Americans in general. Take the time to learn French then go and see for yourself. I will never go there again. As a matter of fact, no other African shop will ever see a penny of my money. They are arrogant and act as if they are God's gift to braiding. They have not a care in the world because they think we are just stupid and like crack addicts, we are sure to come back for more. Sure the style looks good, but look at the downside: they pull your hair out at the roots, you get banging headaches afterwards, you get treated like crap, and they charge way too much for something they did in villages for mere pennies. What do we do? We just bend over and take it. Not me, not anymore. Make a fool out of me once and shame on you, twice, shame on me.

Our daughter has used them multiple times and is satisfied with the results. The micro braids looked good, however, as the bill payer, I think they are very expensive. So decide how important it is and what you want to spend.

I repeatedly asked for them to NOT put a part in my hair, for the braids to go straight back. They said, "They'll be no part. Don't worry. We have been doing this for 18 years. We know what we're doing". When it seemed like they were forming a part I said, "I said no parts!" They said, "You must have never gotten box braids before. Just let me braid your hair" and "All box braids are like this". I asked her to braid my hair going back and not the sides and she says, "I can't braid like that". After thirteen odd requests for my hair to not go to the sides but to flow to the back.

What happens?

I have a huge part in the middle of my head. I am so frustrated I started crying. The braiders absolutely stopped listening to me. I went to the manager and she ordered them to rebraid the front of my hair. They took the very front and rebraided it. BUT the front was five rows and they thought they could just make the front row of braids to cover the part. I complained again and then they rebraided the second and third rows. This was fine. Well, no it's not.

This was my worst experience of 2008.
This was the rudest staff encountered in hair dressing.

The women speak French and they talk about the customers negatively in French. How do I know, I KNOW FRENCH! They consistently cracked jokes on me thru out the time they were braiding my hair. The manager gave them a long lecture on how one day one of the customers will speak French and understand. The employees said this wasn't going to happen in Raleigh and one girl asked me if I spoke French (in French) and I said nothing.

After I told them to remove the part from my head they said I had a mental disorder.

DO NOT WANT. Just say no to African World of Braids on Capital Blvd.

They don't listen to their customers. They pick on their customers and they act like they really don't need your business.

I can't believe I paid $150 to be treated like crap and look like cousin It.
