Good sushi and food worthy of a 4, but I had a bad customer service experience with a hair rolled inside a sushi roll. I get it...it happens, but I didn't expect to have the whole staff agree that the right customer service was to remove only the hairy piece, tell me to be careful with the other pieces and to pay full price even though at least one piece wasn't edible. The hair wasn't on the plate but rather sticking out from the end piece of the roll.

Well it once was okay...

We had to send a salad back for having an unknown spice (let's hope) on it/being hot when it wasn't supposed to be... The owner or manager made it a point to make faces and throw arms up so that only any and everybody could see. Unacceptable. This was a first for us and now will be the last. Plus the quality of food has gone downhill.

The good news is another sushi restaurant is opening in nearby Crossroads with 1/2 priced rolls and hopefully there will be a sushi place with some professionalism for us now.

It is sad in Raleigh that people who have eaten sushi for years should know the difference between ""fresh fish"" meaning never frozen caught daily and ""IQF blocks"" meaning frozen blocks of fish which has been frozen for sometimes for more then a years. I was at sushi bar with friend and all the sushi was just bland and had no taste, When I asked sushi chef if their tuna was ""fresh tuna"" and reply was ""Yes"" but end of conversation what he meant was frozen tuna but it is freshly thawed. I used to work for sushi distribution Co. out of Baltimore Md. and I know well that IQF blocks are usually used by supermarkets or buffet places to save money. Usually upscale sushi place will use fresh whole fish which will bring out flavor of real sushi. I am Chinese American not Japanese but I love to eat sushi from place where sushi is prepared from strong foundation and I wish people in in Raleigh start to experience the same. I am not saying food here at Sushi Thai was bad but maybe it is time to compete quality with Sono, Waraji and few others in this area. Most sad thing about it is some reviewers writing reviews and they don't even have a clue what they are writing about.

I have been eating at Sushi Thai for over 10 years now. I have also eaten sushi all over the Triangle, as well as the world. The quality of food/service is as good now, as day one! They must be doing something right, to stay in business for so long!

This restaurant used to be one of my favorite in Cary.

I just had dinner there last night and probably wont return.

First, the positive: Quality of the food is good and has not changed since I first went there, 10 years ago. Taste is also good, although this is not applicable for sushi.

Negative: The service is sketchy. You can get great, attentive server or like the one we got last night disappearing for 15 min at a time and than rushing through. She was our server at the beginning and than someone else took our last order and check. Do not know if this is lack of management or something else, and frankly do not care, just know that this was not a good service experience.
The food portions have decreased by 50%. I am not kidding. We ordered the Miso Salmon, which we have had before and for $9.95 you get 2 small slices of salmon, whereas before they served 4 slices. The Scallop Dynamite should be renamed Rice Dynamite since there are 2 cups of rice on the bottom of the shell covered with a little bit of what Id call something of a scallop salad.
We ordered 1 ice cream tempura to share and again we got of what it used to be. One tiny ice cream ball fried in tempura batter. A month ago we had the same and they served us a much bigger ice cream scoop.

I understand everyone is concerned about the bottom line, but the key word here is EVERYONE. Why the customers have to be on the receiving end? Change the prices if you must, but do not make your patrons feel like they are stupid and will somehow not notice the difference in portion size.

For Sushi I rate this place little below average due to quality of ingredients they use as in fish but other hand their Thai food is little above average. Service can get much better by educating customer instead of being know it all. Stay with their Thai food is my recommendation.

Good Thai dishes but for sushi maybe just rolls and stay away from Nigeri or Sashimi. Owner is Thai and their Thai food is good but seems lack in quality in sushi side of it their usual selection. Frozen Izumedai (frozen talapia), frozen Saku tuna, frozen wt. tuna..etc pretty sad selection.

We have been coming to Sushi-Thai for years. We love the Lobster Roll, the boats when we have a group, Sashimi, and Sushi. It always delicious and we have never had a bad experience. Everyone there is friendly. Tried other restaurants in the area and none of them are comparable. Lunch specials here are great too.

Thai green curry was delicious but much spicier than we had requested. We asked for a medium level of spice and it was so spicy my mother couldn't even finish it. My sister ordered pad thai noodles and they were dry. I ordered sushi and it was average. Our waitress was absolutely awful. She was so cold and acted as if she really didn't want to be there. She looked miserable and since this was my first visit, I don't think I should be going back. Don't waste your time. The sushi at Mura in North Hills is the same price and tastes a million times better. Or if you want noodles or Thai curry go to Red Bowl in Cary. Their green Thai curry is to die for.

This place used to be good. But the last two times I got sushi here it was pretty bad.

The salmon nigiri (sp?) was as though a person trying for the first time at home to make it. Just a log of plain very lean salmon thrown on rice. It had no flavor, no visual appeal, nothing. I've eaten at a lot of sushi places in the US and while I don't expect 5-star food from here I expect better than that.

Ditto for the rolls I ordered. Had no flavor, just bits of fish rolled up.

I used to like this place but after the same stuff twice I'll look elsewhere

Sushi Thai has been my favorite resturant for years. So far I haven't found any place that beats Sushi Thai for quality and price. I love the boats, spicy tuna rolls, super white tuna nigiri style and they have the best ginger salad dressing around! The staff has always been super and I would recommend this place to anyone. Actually, I highly recommend it to everyone!

I'll start by saying I dined at the Sushi Thai of f Lake Boone several times over my time as a student at NCSU. Always ate sushi, always great sushi. As a young professional I live closer to Cary, and was excited when I read the reviews for this location. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday last night. As usual I ordered a ""boat for two,"" containing a large quantity of assorted sushi and sashimi. I was impressed with the fried sushi rolls, but the philly roll was overwhelmed by cream cheese.and some of the sashimi tasted fishy. Sushi grade fish does not ordinarily smell or taste fishy. Some of the sashimi was frozen in the middle (or at least hard and ice cold) and the ginger was not shaved nearly thin enough. I still gorged myself and had a good time, but quality sushi is an emphasis for me when I dine at a sushi restaraunt. My advice is to avoid their sashimi and order some of the more intricate specialty rolls. This rules out the ""boats"" which are my favorite menu items. As far as Im concerned, if I am ordering individual rolls then I might as well go to sushi blues or kanki.\r
\r
I was disappointed that they only had kirin and sapporo in 12 oz bottles rather than the 22 oz sizes. It was about 60 degrees in the dining room (with ceiling fans on) the whole time, so a jacket would have been useful. The waiter was difficult to track down despite having two tables. Luckily the hostess came over and took care of us several times when I wanted more ginger, rice, or another sapporo. Overall, I would say my experience was a disappointment and I will probably never go back, at least to this location. I really have to question the taste of some of these people who commented ""best sushi,"" etc.

Love this restaurant! Has phenomenal food. The best sushi and Thai food in Cary. Cute restaurant and usually not overly crowded. If you like Thai or Sushi I recommend you try this place!

the staff are quite pleasant and I'd be shocked if they were less than professional. Some of the sushi appears pre prepped and the Thai food is decent. I've dined a number of times with friends and don't find the food more than average. It is priced reasonably and most find it solid. I think if you have a broader view of Thai cuisine you'd see this as average food....but some will enjoy...our choices are limited.

This is my families favorite place to go. They have great food and a great staff. As for the below comment of "BEING KICKED OUT". Maybe people should understand that the way businesses make money is by serving people. They obviously were done and Sushi-Thai is a busy place (because of the quality of food) My wife and I have gladly waited over a hour to enjoy this experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone. If you want great food and a fun staff, try this it is worth a try.

I went out to Sushi-Thai with my husband and a couple of friends whom we had not seen in a long time. We wanted to eat Sushi and sit and talk and catch up. We finished our meal and sat and talked for a few minutes. NOT even 5 minutes had gone by when we started getting stares from the staff. Then our waiter told us if we could leave because they had a big party coming in and they needed our table. We will NEVER go back due to the horrible experience of being KICKED OUT!!! Any good place would know to make their customers happy and they certainly did not.

We went to Sushi Thai Last year and the food is great. It is one of the best Thai restaurants in the triangle area. The Sushi is great too. We didn't quite like the Japanese food. But it was not because of the restaurant, but we generally did not like Japanese food anywhere here. It is slightly on the expensive side. Each entree is like 12-14 $. The Sushi boat is a good choice for appetizer if you go there as a group of say 6-8 people.

We've been going to 'Sushi Thai' (Both in Cary and the one in Raleigh off of Lake Boon Tr.) for about 5 years and haven't had a bad experience yet!

The sushi is absolutely super fresh and tasty, as is the tempura. They keep your drinks full, have the most wonderful attitudes and are, just generally speaking, such nice/friendly folks.

HIGHLY recommend this place. It's delicious!

This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch during the week. The always give great service and the sushi is fresh and always tastes great. I love the atmosphere of the place with the detailed woodwork throughtout the entire restaurant. The only thing I would change is for the restaurant to be bigger. If you're looking for a very reasonably priced lunch Sushi Thai is the place to go.

One of the best dining experiences that I have had in a long time. The restaurant was packed and they still had us seated in less than 20 minutes. The staff was very courteous and on top of everything, our drinks were never empty. They did a great job helping with explanations of the menu when we may have looked a little confused. The food was phenomenal, I am not a sushi guy, we went their more for my fiance, but the quality of the food has made me a sushi guy. I can?t wait to go back to try some of their other non sushi items as well.\r

From the first time you walk into this small, unassuming, store front in Cary be prepared for some of the freshest and best prepared Thai and Sushi that you have ever had. The quality of the fish is top notch, the tuna was a beautiful piece of protein and tasted fantastic, the eel, the rolls and the Pad Thai were all excellent to above excellent. The interior is creative and attractive and the servers are great as well. I would highly recommend Sushi Thai!!

Went here on a whim with the wife for dinner... ordered a couple of rolls and some nigiri, some yakitori and was very happy with the quality of the food and the service. I'm not an absolute sushi connoisseur, but the fish was fresh and very tasty, and the chicken and vegetables on the side dishes were yummy as well. A very full meal (including a couple of rolls to take home) ended up being less than $35 before tip/tax, which is a very good price for decent sushi. It's not as good as some of the sushi I've had in San Francisco, but I also wasn't paying $80 a person for it here!!!

I have eaten at Sushi-Thai Cary several times, lunch and dinner, and find the food consistently good. Lunches were with coworkers and even the non-sushi eaters found something they liked on the menu. I think the Meal Price is a bit more than just ""$."" Cary is full of chain restaurants and all that entails; so nice to find a more unique offering available.

My husband and I were on a search to find good sushi in the Triangle area, Sushi Thai came highly recommended. Hoping for sushi comparable to that we have had in the past we took the advice of the ratings and recommendations. One word described our experience: DISAPPOINTMENT. We were seated fairly quickly in the cramped restaurant. After about 15 minutes, my drink order finally arrived (after reminding the server twice). The sushi rolls have interesting names, unfortunately that was the only noteworthy part. Our sushi rolls arrived and the Dragon Roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Crazy Roll were all a disappointment. It was almost as if the fish had been sitting out all day. I have had fresher sushi from the grocery store!! The ginger accompanying the sushi was over pickled, maybe to make up for the fact that it too had been sitting around. And the sauce that covered the Dragon Roll had a taste and consistency similar to that of the Special Sauce on a Big Mac. Save your money, for sushi...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

While in the Raleigh area, this will be a great restaurant to visit. This company is a very good place to go to for business. They are very polite to their customers and I really enjoyed it and so did my family. We will go there again. The foods was great and I really enjoyed thier curry chicken.

A great place for special ocassion or to take the whole family to.

I love Thai food and have sampled it all over the country. I love this place. Great food, great service, varieties of sushi are tremendous. A great place to check out if you happen to be near Raliegh.

Went on a Thursday night, it was relatively busy but we were seated immediately. The seating arrangement can be a little tight depending on where you are. The amount of choices on the menu is fantastic. We ordered spring rolls, fried gyoza, the special panko fried tofu, maguro, California roll, vegetable roll, a vegetable stir fry and miso soup. Everything was excellent, and reasonably priced. It was very exciting watching the sushi boat (huge wooden boat covered in sushi) go by to the table next to us...maybe next time I will order it!!! I can't wait to go back.

Pros: Great food, very fresh fish, reasonable prices, HUGE MENU!!

Cons: Huge menu makes it hard to decide!!! and some of the seating is a little on the tight side

I like the menu and sushi better at the Sushi Thai in Cary than the one on Wycliff. The sushi is also fresher, in my opinion. There are more specialty rolls that are not on the regular menu. The sushi bomb roll, exactly that...it was the bomb! I can't speak for their Thai food, since I've not had it at this restaurant, but the ginger salad, ika sansai, and their sushi was all very good! If you have a group of 4 or larger, I would recommend calling ahead. It's small and gets crowded quickly!

My husband, my two year old daughter and I love going to Sushi Thai. We are on a strict budget and will save money just to go here. My daughter loves the Tamago Yaki. Sushi Thai in Cary is the ONLY sushi restaurant I've been to in North Carolina that makes their own Tamago. All the others use frozen premade stuff. My husband does not eat sushi but has enjoyed the Thai Food. I have had everything from the simple but magnificent spicy tuna roll (the best I've ever had including places in South Korea and Atlanta, GA) to the huge, bountiful boats. I have graduated to the sashimi thanks to their clean, fresh tasting fish. The pieces are so mouthwatering good, even my husband tried a few pieces. It's a small restaurant and it fills up fast, so reservations are very smart. However, I've had no problems finding seats during lunch. They make everything fresh, so be prepared to wait a little bit, but it's not a ridiculous wait even during their busiest times. The waitstaff is never idle and your water glass is never empty. You can not go wrong dining in this restaurant. Enjoy!

Pros: Fresh, crisp, clean tasting sushi. Great service.

Cons: A little on the small size. Some tables are a bit too close together.

I am new to the area and I am really glad that I found this restaurant. I was hoping to find a really good Thai place and this one is it! The Tom Kha Chicken (soup) and the pad thai are both fantastic.

A friend of mine is obsessed with this place; we go all the time. The atmosphere is really nice-- the carved tables make the place seem extremely fancy, but the prices don't tell the same story (lucky for us!). The sushi is very fresh and well prepared; I had the fried rice and the pad thai which were also good. The service is mainly satisfactory. Totally worth to check out, because once you do, you'll go back again and again.

This is a great place for Sushi in the Triangle. The lunch specials are great and the value for dinner is worth it as well. Great ambiance and very friendly staff. Recommended for sushi nuts as well as first timers. \r

Pros: Great Sushi, Value and Ambiance.

Cons: None found yet.

The family that went there on July 29, 2006 and said it was not kid friendly were wrong. Everyone in the restaurant applauded when they were kicked out. We were nearby and their kids were screaming, kicking, and throwing things. They were little monsters and spoiled our otherwise great meal! This is a restaurant that loves most children.

I have been a customer of Sushi Thai Cary for years. I continue to try new sushi/thai resturant, but am always left wishing I had gone to Sushi Thai Cary. The staff is always courteous and the food is always delious! Try it once and you, yourself will become a loyal customer.

Have eaten dinner with Sushi-Thai in Cary (dine in or take out) for many years now. Have never had a bad meal. Am not a sushi eater, but love the Thai and/or Japanese dishes there. The wonderful owners know how to offer top notch service and a warm welcome every time I go. The teriyaki dishes, the pad Thai and all the delicious appetizers, including the Ebi Ten (sp?) are ALWAYS good. Yes it is somewhat expensive - but you get what you pay for - the value of the good food and excellent service here is worth the price - every time! Cary is very fortunate to have a neighborhood restaurant of the qualiity of Sushi-Thai!

Sushi-Thai Cary provides the best creations and freshest sushi to the table every time I go, which is once a week. I have always enjoyed every dish, including all Thai food they serve. Personally, I recommend the Mary roll and pudding roll (last is not on the menu, and no it's not made with pudding). Best Thai food I have had there is the Spicy Basil.\r
\r
And be sure you go to Sushi-Thai Cary, not the one in Raleigh. One is fresh and good, the other is cheap and you can always tell why. Different owners at each one.

The food is so delicious. I've been their numerous times over the past four years and every time I've gone for dinner, there has always been a crowd at the restaurant. Don't be bogged down by a few bad reviews. You can always judge a restaurant by how busy they consistently are. The fish in the sushi is always fresh because you can tell by the color of the dark red tuna and the vibrant color of the raw salmon. I have absolutely no complaints with their sushi. As for their thai food, I've yet to have a thai dish that I haven't enjoyed. Their pad thai and duck dishes are incredibly tasty. \r
\r
As for the bad things, you may not get the service of a five star restaurant or the best possible table in the house, but I'm always thoroughly impressed with their food. Yes, they may be a bit pricy in comparison to other thai or sushi restaurants, but you get what you pay for, a delicious and consistent meal each and every time.

For all you sushi newbies, sushi and Thai does NOT mix. It is a way for non-Japanese restaurants to increase spending per customer, since sushi commands a high price relative to cost.\r
If a Thai restaurant respects Thai culture and serves kick-ass Thai food, then there's no place for sushi. Have you seen a Japanese restaurant serving Thai?? NO!!!\r
\r
Wake up people - it's all in the marketing.\r
Don't get hooked by ""stylish"" ads and imaging. Sushi is sushi. Thai is Thai.

This is a nice place for sushi. I am very picky about my sushi so I wouldn't say it is the *BEST* sushi in town but it is always fresh and I have not been disappointed. They have a great lobster in martini glass dish that is very good. I think you will definitely enjoy it. Love the waiters & service. Good choice.

Sushi-Thai has the best sushi in the area. Their service is impeccable and their attention to all aspects of the customers experience is exemplary. Extremely fine-dining. There is a usual wait on busy nights, but that is expected for a restaurant like this.

I ate there with my son last night. He wanted to try something new. Not sure if he liked the saki! The sushi and sashimi were excellent. I like traditional japanese food and he wanted something Thai HOT! So we both got what we wanted. The food was really great, and it was brought out as soon as it was cooked. The service there is truly amazing! The staff all work together to help each other and get the food and service to the customer. What a concept! It was really great to be treated so well. And the decor, the boat designs are truly unique. The place is so clean and really nice. We really had a great time. I highly recommend going here for the food, atmosphere, service.

If you're looking for good sushi, this isn't the place. I'm Japanese, I know Japanese food. The sushi at this place won't pass Japanese tongue.
