I just purchased a bassett sectional from shirley at sobol. She saved my over $1000 from what I would have paid in our local Bassett store. The purchase seemed to good to be true and I was nervous dealing with a company in NC while I was in Upstate NY. The sectional came in to Sobol as promised, about 3 weeks, I sent them a check and recieved a call from Star delivery about 8 or 9 days later telling me that they would be at my house in one week between 3pm and 6pm. One week later @ 4pm a big truck pulls up and starts to unload my new sectional. I dont think they were there more than 30 minutes. The sectional is beautiful and I couldnt be happier. My experience with Sobol House was very positive. When Morgan found out I had visitors coming, she went out of her way to have the bed delivered in time. It was right in the middle of Hurricane Charlie, and the deliverers found me with some effort. Everything turned out just fine!! Thanks, Morgan.

DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT USE THIS FAMILY-OWNED COMPANY! Between mother Shirley and daughter Morgan, you will get nothing but lies, lies, and more lies. They simply cannot tell the truth. Nothing truthful comes out of either of their mouths - everything is a complete run-around - each of these women covers for the other to the point you just throw up your hands. Their "family-owned, aw-shucks, we-care, considerate, small-town America" attitude sucks you in; you send them your money and then the lies begin. Their low prices are just the beginning - then they stick it to you but good. Delivery date? Try 15 months, not 10-12 weeks. Firm quoted prices? Try 15-20% more via hidden fees and "extra" charges never mentioned during your original phone quote. Problems w/delivery, partial shipment, damages, etc? Good luck - your complaints are not going to get taken care of any time soon as they already have your money. I wish I had never called them - in hindsight, paying twice the price that they charged me would have been welcome relief based upon all the delays, the lies, and the complete lack of professionalism. This whole family should be locked up - DO NOT USE SOBOL - you have been warned.

This is because they could not survive as a store-front business - their service is a total abomination. The mother Shirley and the daughter Morgan are very slick and skillful liars - they suck you in w/their home-town, southern charm and grace and extremely low prices, then stick it to you once they have your money. Neither can tell the truth - they cover for each other and feed you nothing but lie after lie after lie. Our 'binding' quote was increased w/hidden fees; the expected delivery we were quoted that was supposed to be 10-12 weeks turned into 15 months! Their customer service is absolutely non-existent. You'll have to constantly call them, as neither Shirley nor Morgan have the common courtesy to ever, ever return your calls, or respond to your emails. They are crooks of the first order - remember this: DO NOT USE SOBOL! If you ignore this warning and choose to buy from them because of their low prices, I guarantee you'll regret it!

this company was recommended to us by friends who bought a great deal of furniture. We called and received pricing and the estimated time frame. We ordered the bedroom and received it within the time frame and are very pleased with the product. We did have trouble with the delivery company but that was resolved by Sobol House customer service. We have had a wonderful experience with them and will order our dining room from them.

I ordered a flexsteel sofa and loveseat. the delivery company ripped the fabric and sobol house took care of the problem in a very reasonable time even though it was not there fault. I would buy from them again. There prices are great and I didn't have any problem with the service.

I have been trying for months to get a leg for my loveseat. Each time I call I get the run around. I was willing to pay, order it myself from Flexsteel, anything to get the leg. I just kept getting a run around: "send pictures"( which I did) email this person, blah blah blah. My husband finally went to a local frurniture store and he walked out with one!! And I was thinking of ordering family room furniture from there. No way now!

Did not receive items until first week of November (a full six months later) and the one piece I had a question on was white not black. When I got angry about this and wanted to refuse, Shirley pointed out she had the order form in MY writing and even though I had written in "MID" to indicate I wanted the midnight color, she just said she didn't know that's what I meant. Never dawned on them to ask. Will NEVER order from them again. You save money but get zero customer service in response

I did not have a good experience with Sobol House. I ordered a couch this summer. Several weeks later I was told that the material was discontinued. I picked a new fabric. A couple weeks later they indicated that they did not have the complete order and to complete the set, it would be an additional $300. I cancelled the order and ordered the couch through another furniture store. My refund took over 6 weeks to arrive and I was quite scared that it would never come. I don't often write reviews, but I thought others should know about my experience. They seem like nice enough people, I just think they don't know how to run a business.

They were going to have to order another matress from the manufacturer and wait until it came in. They said it would be in the end of the month. Called Monday and they said the matress was there and they had notified the shipper...here we go again. I'll believe it when I see it. Not once have they offere to compensate me for the inconveience. No price break, no offer to pick up the shipping cost... nothing!!! My daughter is sleeping in a crib that she outgrew months ago as we continue to wait for her big girl furniture to arrive. Sobol house employees were very helpful at the beginning, but as time has gone on...and on...and on, they have passed the blame on anyone they could. I would not reccomend ordering from this company, as I will NEVER use them again.

My wife and I purchase a house full of furniture last year. It arrived on time and was delivered in excellent condition. The sales staff were very professional and always answered our questions. The furniture manufacturers they deal with are of good quality and I would recommend them to anyone. We ordered Bassett furniture in 2008 and the furniture arrived in good condition and in the time frame we were given. Sobol House is a great company.

So we waiting for our other bedroom furniture to be delivered. It finally arrived in October but was in horrible condition. Tried to call Sobol house while it was being delivered but they didn't pick up. I also realized in September I over paid by $900 and sent numerous emails and made several phone calls to Shirley, Woody and Morgan. Shirley told me that the accounting department won't release my over payment until the furniture is straightened out. Its now January 27, 2009, my replacement furniture isn't being released until the delivery company comes and gets it and Shirley won't return my calls and refuses to give me my over payment back. I'm beyond upset and buyer beware.

I ordered two Flexsteel recliner chairs on August 28, 2007 and when I talked with Woody Sobol I told him that I wanted them my November 19th in time for Thanksgiving and he said this was possible. It is now almost 6 months later and I still do not have my furniture. I believe this company is not reputable and not forthcoming about the details regarding the length of time it will take to order the furniture and have it delivered. When you call they say it is out of their hands and not their problem. I would NOT recommend this company. The furniture finally arrived in March 2008 - 7 months after first placing the order; 4 months after it was promised to us.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I wish I had read the previous review prior to my order. They seemed really curteous and friendly when I inquired about my furniture, of course they did, they wanted the sale. I ordered a custom made kitchen table and chair set from them and was told I would have it in 10-12 weeks. 12 weeks later I called check on the status of my order and was told I misunderstood and that they would have it in 10-12 weeks...which I might add they still did not have. 14 weeks later...they still don't have my set and now I am told they will be getting it, yet again next week, and then of course I will have to wait on the shipping. They were very unsympathetic especially considering it was their mistake. Again, BUYER BEWARE!!

They made a mistake on my order. Sent one nightstand with "marble" , 6 months later I ordered the same item. They mistakenly ordered one without the "marble", in the meantime Broyhill discontinued the item. They would not respond to BBB (not a member of BBB). After several months they wanted to pick up the wrong nightstand but not reimburse me for the shipping billed to me (approx $150). BBB said they did not respond so file with attorney general. I filed claim with 2 charge card companies (one used for deposit, a second used for final payment). Today, the one use for deposit has given me a "permanent credit". I am awaiting a response from the second company. No , they did not meet my expectations and would definitely not recommend them based on very poor service, not being a member of the BBB and not responding to request for information from BBB
