It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

First of all, I came on this site to write a review of the Front Street Inn, but wanted to first address the previous post (dated July 2009, just in case it's not there, as it shouldn't be). I always check around to see what other travelers are saying about a place before I book a room. Most of the time reviews are honest, but there are always some people that have an axe to grind with the owner or manager, for whatever reason, and they feel everyone else has to be subjected to their belly aching...equivalent to writing nasty things about someone on the bathroom wall......it's unfair and pathetic.

Anyways, about the inn...

Reviews on other sites (tripadvisor and bed&breakfast dot com, for instance) were generally excellent so I booked a room for four nights. I stayed in the Bistro suite. It was large and well appointed. It, as with the entire inn, was very clean. Front desk employees and innkeepers were friendly and accommodating. Location--one block from the river--was great. Breakfast exceeded my expections. i would have NO problem highly recommending this place to my family, friends, and coworkers and there's no doubt in my mind that if I vacation again in Wilmington I'll be staying at the Front Street Inn.

Pros: location, cleanliness, friendly innkeepers, breakfast

Cons: internet could be faster

My husband and I stayed at this bed and breakfast and were absolutely horrified at how the owner, Richard Sallinetti, treated his employees. We overheard Richard talking to his wife (he wasn't aware that we could hear what he was saying) telling her he was going to get into the vacant rooms before a particular housekeeper got to work so that he could steal her tips she had earned for the rooms she had cleaned because he didn't feel like she deserved them!!! Can you believe this?!!! This man is horrible! If you leave any money in the rooms as tips for the housekeepers (which is usually expected at bed and breakfasts) THEY WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY YOU INTEND FOR THEM! And to make matters worse, the tips at these places are usually very large tips (anywhere between $15-$50 depending upon the price of the room) and at this particular place, the prices of the rooms are very expensive! Also, these housekeepers are usually poor and any tip money they get goes to pay for basics like food, rent and child care. Mr. Sallinetti should be very ashamed of himself for stealing, especially from poor people. It's too bad he can't get arrested for doing this because it is stealing someone else's HARD-EARNED MONEY but since he is very wealthy I guess he thinks that he is above the law!!!

This inn came highly recommended and got very good reviews on the Internet. Unfortunately, this is one of those situations to which "seeing is believing" definitely applies. The reviews and description on the inn's web site were so different from what the inn is really like. It's nice enough and relatively clean, but the bathroom had clogged drains (both the shower and the sink), and the fixtures and tub were peeling. Worst of all, the breakfast was TERRIBLE. We could have gotten the same breakfast ourselves from a convenience store! They served packaged ham, packaged sausage patties, dry, crumbly breads, hard-boiled(!) eggs, and some cereal. I thought that the breakfast is part of what makes a B&B special?? Theirs was definitely way below expectations -- McDonald's would have been better!

Pros: Close to shops

Cons: Overpriced, overrated, terrible breakfast, dirty bathrooms

I really cannot recommend this place. They seem to praise themselves constantly (on the business website and in person at the inn), yet they are avaricious beyond belief, and they offer much less service than other inns in the area. The owner wasn't very friendly either.

Cons: poor attitude, overpriced, poor breakfast

One reviewer has mentioned off-season rates; yet the innkeeper told us their rates never change! (Not to mention that their rates magically went up after our reservation, but they gave us the new price instead of the old one). The billing was also incorrect in the end, and they weren't nice about this or anything else. I also want to say that since they have a kitchen, why don't they serve eggs and bacon for breakfast like other inns in the area do? If it were $70 per night, I could consider putting up with the bad attitude and the almost non-existent breakfast, but never the deceitfulness. So, I can't give this place my recommendation.

This B&B is located within walking distance from Wilmington's historic district. I love the interior and exterior decor. The rooms are a decent size and have private bathrooms. A lovely breakfast is served each morning. We stayed here during the off season (March) so the price was very reasonable. I liked how once we parked our car in the lot, everything that we wanted to see was in walking distance.

If you want to go to the beach in Wilmington, this is a great place. You are located downtown near all the restaurants and bars, and only 10minutes from Wrightsville Beach. By staying here, everything you own won't have sand on it (it stays in the car). Parking at the beach isn't too much trouble, with over 40 public access points, just costs about a dollar an hour. Our room was great, as was the service. Only real complaint is for over $200 a night, I'd hoped for a better breakfast. On Labor Day weekend, breakfast was stale bagels, english muffins and hard boiled eggs, and a small cereal selection. i could smell bacon....but alas there was none to be seen. Much better and quiter than any hotel cold offer, and again, the location is primo-

Unfortunately this is not the inn it used to be. The previous owners wanted you to have a great time and were very friendly. The inn is under new ownership and they are very unfriendly and unaccomodating. We booked a room and then they called us a day before we were to go and said they didn't have any space for us. They then came up with a room for one of the nights, but didn't do anything (not even a bottle of wine) for the huge inconvenience. They tried to blame the mistake on us, and said they run a wonderful inn. The owner then said we were pains for asking for some sort of compensation for the mix up. Others had the same problem. Also, the owners talked on the phone in the lobby about his customers to other inn owners when trying to see if anywhere else had rooms that could accomodate his over booked inn. How hard is it to keep track of 14 rooms. I guess hard because they overbooked others also.

Terrible service and kept saying how they weren't at fault. Will never go back!!

Pros: none now since new owners
