In 1999 I first moved to Charlotte for a job and the recruiter took me to Azteca. I have gone to Azteca hundreds of times over the years. Know most of the wait staff and all are friendly and food is always great. Love Azteca.

My family visits this restrurant to celebrate birthdays every year. It is usually pretty good but lately I have not found many entrees to my liking. The salsa, the mild salsa, on the other hand is AWESOME but only if you like chunky salsa..kind of like pico de gallo. The guacamole when it is made fresh is also great!

Azteca Mexican is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. Great Ritas, authentic Asada dishes, we have gone many times and never disappoints.

This is by far, the best Mexican Restaurant we have ever eaten at. We love the choices, staff and the portions are plenty. YOU never go away hungry, that's for sure. We have been eating here for years and never once were we disappointed. When going in ask for Pedro the waiter.... he is awesome and knows how to help you.
Tell him Judy sent ya!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!

If you like Mexican food , you better go here. The atmosphere is wonderful, the music and the servers are charming. The kids will love it. The taco salads are the best and the desserts are great.

I love Azteca! Their food is not over-Americanized, meaning a lot of their dishes still pack plenty of spice. Like most restaurants, they offer free chips + salsa. One unique feature is that they bring a small desert out to everyone for free (some sort of fried bread with whipped cream and strawberry sauce forget the name). They sometimes have a band that comes around and plays music. A great place for the family.

Azteca is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Charlotte. You have to admire a place tucked into a Days Inn hotel that stays consistently busy, and consistently good. The sombreoed guy waving in traffic from the street is a nice touch, too. You could make a meal out of the chips and salso, but don't. THe food is fantastic. I just want to know where coleslaw fits in with Mexican food since they use it as a side on everything????!!!!
PROS: You can eat so much you need a nap and check in to the adjoining hotel :)
CONS: cabbage, everywhere cabbage

Azteca Mexican Cuisine is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to. Located right on South Blvd, this restaurant is located in one busy environment which is a plus. The food is delicious and always served hot and the fresh sauce is very good. The warm chips and the friendly staff just make your experience even better. This restaurant gets busy quite easily so reservations are highly recommended.

Don't be put off that Azteca Mexican Restaurant is part of the Days Inn, haha! It has great food, very fast service, and even a fresh guacamole cart (what more could you need?!) My family and I went for my birthday and they were all a little worried about the place until they sat down. The waiters are always great with their service, the price is inexpensive, and I love the food. Also, they might have the best "Happy Birthday" song from the waiters in town!!! I'm pretty sure it was a whole band and they sang 3 songs...plus a sombrero! Always a good time at Azteca.
Pros: Mariachi band on Friday nights and good margaritas!
Cons: Don't be put off because it is part of the Days Inn :)
My fiance and I usually go to Azteca at least once a month. I've never had a bad experience here. We usually split an order of the fajitas and both leave satisfied. I, unlike some of the other reviewers, like Azteca for what it is: good, quick Mexican food. This is not the fanciest, most "authentic" Mexican but that would seem pretty apparent if you were willing to do any homework beforehand.
Pros: Good food, great service, reasonably priced
Cons: Music in the bar is too loud
My husband likes this spot and this location happens to be the one we've been trying. Great food, good hospitality. Lunch prices are a bargain, dinner dishes are truly authentic.
Pros: A little treat at the end
Why are the reviews for this place good? Generic pseudo-mexican slop. We ordered from the more "authentic" portion of the menu, and the execution was very poor - why bother? The pork carnitas was tough, and appeared to have been deep fried, and tasted vaguely of teriyaki for some reason. The arroz con pollo somehow tasted like chicken cacciatore. All the flavors were muddy and indistinct. The margaritas were gigantic, but disgustingly sweet, and contained not nearly enough alcohol to make up for this poor dining experience. This place is inferior to pretty much any chain mexican restaurant.
Pros: large portions
Cons: awful food
We eat at Mexican Restaurants all the time. Read the reviews and thought we'd try it. Terrible!! They don't give you nearly enough chips and salsa. (1/2 a basket and 1/2 a small bowl) and after you have 2 baskets they charge you $3 for the 3rd. The plates are HUGE!! which was good and the burrito was yummy. We also got done with our meal in less than 30 mins because we were in a hurry to get to a Bobcats game. Had to send a quesadilla back because it was WAY to cheesy and un-eatable. The rice and beans weren't great. But the service was great. Overall, If you're looking for Mexican food in Charlotte I'd look for somewhere else.
Pros: Burrito, Fast Service
Cons: Rice/Beans, Quesadilla, Chips/Salsa
This Mexican restaurant has THE BEST pico de gallo. My husband and I buy it by the pint to take home and eat. Margaritas are good and the food is even better.
Its the same thing. Noone in Charlotte (or east of the Mississippi for that matter) knows Mexican food. Its terrible, frozen, and just plain bad. This place is for those that like Pace's Picante sauce, refried beans with cheese, and Taco Bell. By the way, its the best that Charlotte has to offer.
You know when you apporach the parking lot, that the food has to be great. Once you are seated inside, you know you are in for a grand treat. The wait staff is so friendly and you won't find your glass empty. They are very attentive. The food...oh my goodness...you will love it. Certainly a huge amount of food per order, be preparred to take home the left overs.
I have eaten there twice. The service is horible. The food is good, so if your hungry I would get it to go.
Pros: food
Cons: service, cramped seating
Azteca Mexican Restaurant is one of my familys favorites. We have eaten there at least 10 times since we moved to Charlotte a little over a year ago. Need I say more? I will add however that the servers are friendly and helpful and the portions are huge. Cassandra
Pros: Food, Service, Price
