I paid $750 for new brakes, new drums everything. I took out a credit card there to pay for the repairs. The manager looked me in the eye and told me I would never need brakes for the life of the car. Granted it was a 1998 car, but I surmised that their 5 yr/50,000 mile warranty would in fact carry me through. A year later the drums are making noises and every location has gone out of business. There is no way I wore through those brakes in this time. I was ripped off and now they've disappeared.

I was employed by Value Brakes. On Dec.3rd 2007 I got a phone call from my manager telling me to get to the shop right away! As I was off that day & had been partaking in the Holiday Spirits, thought, somebody droped a car off the lift or messed up something real bad.(I was the one they always called ).I got to the shop at 5:15pm,the manager informed me that he got a phone call from Corporate at 5:00pm saying "Dont take in anymore cars,as of 6:00pm Value Brakes is closed,go to Monroe rd.store & turn in your keys"
Merry X-mas to me

If anyone reads this & has a computer,go to Value Brakes site, they changed the name but the Corporate office is on Blanding Blvd. in Jacksonville Fla.
I hope this helps...& remember that at least one of us was a Honest Mechanic who got caught in their Corporate B/S. & Greed
Thanx

Shortly before Christmas I was in a car accident, believed to be the fault of brakes installed by Value Brakes in Gastonia, NC. Luckily, I was not traveling very fast when having to react quickly to an abruptly stopping vehicle in front of me. I practically had to put my foot through the floorboard to stop my car. A mere $3500 in damage to my car and thankfully no injuries. After 10 days in the shop, I returned to Value Brakes to have them serviced a 3rd time in 10 months, only to find the shop closed and out of business - all phone lines disconnected. A short trip down the street to another brake place cost me an additional $600, to the $550 in sunk into rotors, brakes & caliper work with Value Brakes in February. Not much I can do now, but a word to the wise - do your homework.

I have never written a review before until now; however, I feel that this one is absolutely necessary. I have actually read many reviews prior to my writing this one. Those reviews prevented me from wasting time and money so I feel I should do the same for other unsuspecting customers. I took my car to Value Brakes instead of the dealer for new rotors and pads. It was my first time going outside of the dealer for any repairs and I now regret it. I would easily have paid $100 more in hindsight. My brakes sound like two cement bricks constantly rubbing against each other. They sound more like a freight train when you actually use them. When I called to inquire about it, the service rep was rude and made it clear that she did not fix the car so she can't help me. I am still trying to get them fixed but I will eventually have to accept that I have wasted my time and money and will end up going to PROFESSIONALS to have the brakes installed correctly. Warning: Usually if both the customer service and the actual service are bad at one location, it will be the same in the of the stores. So, let my mistake be your mistake and save your $money$. Pay the minor extra cost or else you will get what you pay for.

I am a mail carrier, which means my car takes a very heavy beating. I am a very loyal customer of Value Brakes, because they do excellent work at a very fair price. I have been to the Value Brakes in Rock Hill, Matthews, and Pineville, and the entire staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful on each visit. I would recommend Value Brakes to anyone who needs their car repaired/maintained!

I recently had work done by the west columbia branch of Value Brakes and was very dissatisfied and after 6 tries and countless hours of waiting and wasted time not to mention loosing productivity at my career as a commissioned insurance agent my scenario is not at all positive and will remain negative my goal is to spead the word as fast as I can about this poor represented establishment and not to my suprize my friends have had the same reaction so I guess I will start a campaign to Spread the word about this ridiculous company and their staff. Other positive reviews were probably for promotional purposes and received compensation for thier ad!!

PROS: NONE TO REPORT
CONS: SORRY BUSINESS SORRY STAFF SORRY MANAGMENT

I have all my brake work done at Value Brakes. The staff here is extremely friendly, and service is always super speedy! They recently replaced all four brakes on my car for cheaper than the price I was quoted for 2 brakes at a dealership! I have never had any problems with any of the work they perform, and that says a lot since I am super picky about my car. Overall, this shop is highly recommended!
