We used A Special Event for several items for our wedding in September of 2000. The candles they provided were out of fluid (they were gas candles) and the tables and tablecloths provided were not what we reserved.

We use this company many times throughout the year to help us hold special events at my work. They make everything so easy on the customer and have great delivery and set up staff.

I made plans to have them deliver a bounce to my sons birthday party, I gave the owner Andy a 50.00 deposit, I called them a day before the party to confirm, they said everything was all set and went over my contact numbers and address. The day of the party they did not show up, didnt return phone calls. I called them after the party to ask for my deposit back and they will not answer the phone and I have not been givin my deposit back.... Not a way to due business, shady company..
Pros: NONE
Cons: They wont show up, return calls, and steal your money

Very Disappointed

I used A Special Event to rent a chupah and a pipe & drape backdrop for my wedding ceremony. Everything was set up when it was supposed to be, but there were a couple of issues. First of all, the pipe & drape did not extend across the entire back wall as requested. We gave them specific dimensions of the back wall, so there was no way they could have mistaken the 14 feet that the pipe & drape covered with the 27 feet that was requested. Also, the pipe & drape was not 10 feet tall as requested; it was only 8 feet tall. The chupah was fine, but anyone that looked slightly underneath (including the people in the front row) could see that parts of the white frame were held together with black duct tape. Yeah, that looked really great.
Our relationship with the owner started out great & he was recommended by the staff at the ceremony site. He was very friendly. After the wedding when I called to let him know that items were not set up as agreed upon (and written down in the invoice) and paid for, he apologized & promised to send a check to reimburse us. No check. After a couple of weeks, I called back asking about the check. Again an apology, a promise, and no check. After a couple more weeks, I called again and still no check.
The check in question wasn't even that much money. Because they can't follow their own directions (at least in regards to the pipe & drape) and for their TERRIBLE customer service, they get one star.
Pros: good prices
Cons: terrible customer service

Wonderful Service and Equipment

We used A Special Event rentals for our wedding this month and they did an amazing job. The tent was beautiful and it was a reasonable price. The owner was so nice, helpful, and honest. I talked with him about renting a tent liner and he said that their tents were so nice that we did not need it. He could have made more money off of us but he was honest - and right! I am very thankful we were referred to them.
