We rushed my cat to After Hours after he woke me up howling in pain at 2am. He had some alarming symptoms that indicated a potentially life threatening condition. The staff at After Hours wasted no time in caring for him. Dr. Wyatt was able to improve his condition within an hour. They also did some blood work to rule out immediate crisis issues and they gave him fluids and pain relief medications. They recommended we see our regular vet first thing when they opened and asked that we keep them informed of how things go. We ended up with a $282 bill.

Overall, we found both the staff and Dr. Wyatt, to be compassionate towards our pet and us during our three-hour long visit. They were very up front about cost and gave us plenty of options to consider going forward. As an emergency clinic it is certainly more expensive than a regular vet, but we found that this wasn't the case by much. For example, X-rays here cost $200 and they cost $180 at our regular vet.

Thanks to the efforts of both this clinic and our regular vet's office, my cat recovered within a few days. I later learned that Dr. Wyatt had contacted my regular vet twice to see how things had gone. Dr. Wyatt also called me personally two days after our visit to make sure my cat was well and discuss his continued recovery.

Given the high cost of vet care, I expect to receive nothing short of excellent medical treatment, genuine personal investment on the part of vets and staff and honest, supportive, respectful treatment of pet owners. We definitely found that here and will not hesitate to use them again should another emergency arise.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Our 10 year old dog was struck by a car on a Saturday afternoon. We first took him to another emergency vet where they added the bill up faster than they diagnosed him. They immediately told us he possibly had a ruptured bladder and needed surgery immediately to the tune of $2000-4000. Well, my husband and I were in shock and considerably upset. We didn't have this kind of money readily available. Once we told them this, they referred us to After Hours. We called them, they say they would work with us on the bill and we took him right over. \r\n\r\nThis is not the only reason for this review. Once we got there, they met us in the parking lot and carried our dog inside. They started working on him right away. They ran a test in his belly for traces of urine to rule out ruptured bladder. It turned out not to be that. He was bleeding internally and was critical. They gave us 2 options - wait and see with critical care there or do surgery. We waited. On Sunday, X-rays revealed no additional bleeding and no broken bones. I'm glad to say, today, he is up and eating. \r\n\r\nI understand when these things happen a prognosis is hard to determine. I still feel we are sometimes taken advantage of during these situations due to our delicate state. After Hours was not like that at all!!! Dr. Maxwell was extremely caring and understanding of our situation. She was up-front about everything she was doing, why and what other choices we had. The techs there were just as pleasant and gentle with my pet. \r\n\r\nIn all, I would highly recommend this establishment. I will be forever in their debt even after my bill is paid. This is where I plan to return if anything ever happens again.

Pros: Care about the well-being of the patient and owners

Cons: Emergency care is never cheap

.

I had to rush my dog there because of a ruptured nueter site. Not cheap by any means, but they are willing to work with you. They were very caring and gentle with my animal. He's healed fine.

Although, this hospital is a very good and experienced clinic, their prices are outrageous. But, I will say the staff is excellent, from the Vet to the office staff. All in all, if you can afford it this is an excellent place for treating emergencies.

If anyone can tell me about a more affordable place in the Raleigh area to take my dogs or cat in cases of emergencies, I would be very greatful and so will others.
