I had my reversal done at NCCRM in Aug. 2013. They are awesome. They explained everything to my husband & I. Dr. Toma sat with us for as long as we needed answering questions & going gover all the options available to us. The surgery staff, office staff & Dr. Toma are awesome. I work in a hospital & was amazed at the perfersonalism & care they show to each patient. We thank God everyday for NCCRM without them we would not have our wonderful baby girl. And we were pregnant within 2 months of the reversal. I would recommend them to anyone considering a tubal reversal.

When talking about NCCRM this place was absolutely amazing! Dr. Sameh Toma was my physician and I adore him! I started attending this facility back in May of this year (2014). This was after I was initially seeing another fertility clinic but something kept making me think I should switch. Sometimes you have to listen to your gut and this time I did. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Dr. Toma always greeted me with kindness and is very thorough in his work. His IVF nurse Carla is also an absolute joy! It is rare to go into a facility or office and the entire staff remember your name from your very first visit but this staff did just that. The only time I had to tell someone who I was, was the first time they saw my face. After that I have always been greeted with smiles, hugs and just overall kindness. Everyone stays positive the entire time. They will give you whatever news you need to hear straight up but they will always have a plan. The reason I had to attend a fertility specialist is because I was diagnosed with blocked tubes in October of 2008 at the age of 21. In April of 2014 I had them removed as they were filled with fluid that diminished my chances of successful IVF treatment. After that is when I started coming here. I am so ecstatic to say I am now 10 weeks pregnant with twins after my first round of IVF!!! Due April 16th, 2015. That is a blessing in and of itself! They know what they are doing here. I would recommend ANYONE looking for a treatment center that will treat them like family and keep the momentum going until you reach your dream to come here. Today was my last visit there as I am moving on to a regular OBGYN and it was SO bittersweet. I will miss everyone there and told them all so. I will back after the birth! With faith, prayer, positive energy and the staff here at NCCRM I believe anyone can achieve that moment of being told "Congratulations, you're pregnant! "

I had a tubal reversal on March 11 (yesterday) at NCCRM, and we couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. At our pre-operative appointment, Dr. Toma spent plenty of time answering all of our questions and making sure that we fully understood the procedure. He was very thorough in both his explanations and in the surgery. The financial coordinator was always quick to return phone calls prior to the procedure, and was patient with us as we made a decision about a recommended D&C. The reception staff was so welcoming, and the triage nurse who took my weight and blood pressure was so very kind as well. Our surgery nurse was caring, sweet and personable despite being busy; she never let us feel as if we were burdening her in any way. I always have a hard time with IVs due to my small veins, but the anesthesiologist was gentle and comforting through that process. I'm so thankful that the Lord led me to this facility for my tubal reversal. They made every step of the procedure more pleasant that I could've imagined!

I want to start with writing that these are my personal opinions and based on what I felt my needs were and my expectations were, I could only give NCCRM & Dr. Toma and his staff a one. When I first called for an apt. I had been trying for over a year with my husband. I was told to fill out paperwork online which was very extensive, which makes sense, but then required to fill out paperwork when I arrived. And not just signature paperwork, some of the same paperwork I had already filled out online. Working in HR I understand the desire to go paperless in order to eliminate extra work for your staff but not wanting to go paperless entirely but having to do it twice and then needing to fill out paperwork for each appointment seemed a little much. Especially since I noticed that Dr. Toma does not even read the paperwork he makes you fill out on every appointment. On my first appt. I waited 45 minutes to be seen. I am one who believes that if my appointment is at 9am, I would like to be seen around that time instead of waiting until almost 10. Then after explaining my history and situation I was told to schedule an apt after my period but not much more information. Once that time came, I contacted the office, it became difficult to find an apt shortly after but in the end it worked out. When I arrived to my apt. I had to wait again but this time only 30 minutes and filled out more paperwork. I was told this apt was going to be for a saline ultrasound. Now, when I hear ultrasound, never experiencing this stuff, I actually have no idea what he is talking about. I was not told what to expect, how to prepare, what to do. I had told my husband he didn't need to come because it was just an ultrasound and lab reading. Boy was I wrong. The saline ultrasound was super painful. I walked in the room and I saw way more equipment than I thought so I asked him if it would hurt. He actually didn't answer me. His nurse kind of squinted and said it would a little. I however, was not aware of the procedure so I didn't prepare myself and the pain was just horrible. I understand I will go through way more pain in labor but at least I know about it. Dr. Toma was not very soft, he was rough, he pushed into those ovaries or whatever but it hurt like crazy and then to top it off .. I got pain going up my chest and my right arm. I later read that some people do get these side effects of gas going up and causing this. I am not sure if its true but I felt so badly after I could barely drive home. I actually got lost because I just had no idea where I was going with the shock and pain I was feeling. Then after the saline ultrasound I was put in a room where the doctor was supposed to read my labs to me. He had no labs. I called a few days prior to find out if they received them and they said yes but yet he had only one lab result, he ordered many and yet didn't have them for the apt. I would think he would have known or had his staff verify the labs prior to me taking the time to go to see him about them. I had to explain the labs to him since my primary read them to me as a courtesy. Fine. He then told me that he would send in a nurse to explain my next steps. A nurse comes in, super nice, Carla. I had her explain the process to me about 10 times because it was a lot to remember. I was told to call her on the first day of my period. So on the first day, I called her. I told her that it looked kind of strange but since my periods are always different I went ahead and started on the first part of the process. I then called her on the second day and left another message. She called me at 6pmthe second day, that night, while I was at my step sons soccer game. On the third day I called her again and still no answer, left another message. On each call I explained that I was concerned about the period. I was left to go to my primary. We completed a pregnancy test. It came up positive. I was taking clomid which can cause miscarriage. I was two weeks pregnant. I lost the baby. Due to the medication? I don't know. All I know is that Dr. Toma is not gentile, he is very aggressive and lacks the ability to keep you well informed (but if you can't you asked your nurses to be). Carla is not responsive and clearly must be overwhelmed if she is unable to call someone back in a timely manner (I even sounded upset, concerned so I would assume that would get someone's attention). This clearly is not the way I would like this process to go since having to go through this process is stressful enough. The only good side that I can see with this clinic is that they did do a really good job at making this less expensive by appropriately filing through my insurance. So the downside is that I am sure I will have to pay more to go somewhere else but most definitely worth it for better assistance, information and over all less stress around the situation.

After calling around to different fertility specialists that offered tubal reversals, I chose NCCRM. The lady on staff answered all of my questions regarding the procedure, success rates, financing options, and scheduling. I sent in my operative report from when my tubes were tied and waited one week for the office to contact me if they felt I was a candidate for tubal reversal. We were! It was not hard to make the initial consultation appointment and ultrasound. The check-in staff was pleasant and the waiting room was clean and comfortable. I did not have a long wait to be seen by Dr. Toma. He was not an extremely warm personality, but he was definitely not rude and he answered all my questions as well as offered me different options such as IVF that could result in pregnancy. I scheduled my surgery before I left that day. All the exam rooms I visited were clean. I would never had had surgery at a place that wasn't. On operation day, my nurse was very warm and kind. The OR staff was great. My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that the recovery room is also the pre-op room, but that wasn't a big deal to me as there was only myself and one other patient in there that morning. The success rate quoted to me was 80% in 6 months. It took almost 10 for me, but no doctor is God, and I believe that timing was in God's hands alone. We are currently 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. I believe God led us to Dr. Toma and his staff to help us bring this baby into the world. I am more than ecstatic to be expecting when I thought that door was closed.

It's only been 2 1/2 weeks since my surgery and I already feel very let down. Let me first say that if I did give more than 1 star on a rating, it's because of staff like April, Barbara, and Abby. They seem to understand the value of Customer Service. However, it seems that once I paid my fines and fees, I just became as others described it, another one of their "cattle".

We traveled hundreds of miles because of my great on-the-phone experience I had with Barbara. She made me feel important and was able to answer my questions. However, when we got there, I stood in the lobby for 10 minutes before the lady at the front desk even acknowledged my presence. It all went downhill from there. The waiting area is outdated, musty, and has an overall dirty feeling. Even worse, the "nice", "comfortable", "clean" room they provide for men to give semen samples... DISGUSTING. My husband couldn't give a sample on the first day because of how repulsive the room was. First, it was FREEZING. There is one faux leather chair that the Lab Tech (who can barely speak English) covers with a 24" x 24" paper pad. There were women standing right outside the door, gossiping and laughing the entire time. Definitely not an environment that one can function very well in.
Next, was my ultrasound. The MA (?) had me undress from the waist down... which is how I waited for over 45 minutes for Dr Mulvaney to see me. The exam room was also disgusting. It looked as if the floor hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. The sink was very filthy. It too was way too cold to be comfortable in. Dr. Mulvaney was okay. The only thing I can remember from my ultrasound is that he mentioned my full bladder like, 5 times. Horrible bedside manner. He was informative, but that is about the only good thing I have to say about him.
I left my first appointment feeling let down. I'd traveled hundreds of miles and had paid my fees, so I was stuck. I spent the entire night vomiting because of how nervous I was to be having a surgery at such a filthy and unprofessional office.
On the morning of the surgery, I arrived right on time. Once again, it took office staff well over 10 minutes to talk to me. This time, they saw me, but decided to ignore the fact that I was standing there. Once I was checked in, my fears started to cease. The nurse, Abby was SO good to me. She was personable, happy, and the most professional person I interacted with. Next, I met the Anesthetist. She too was amazing. When I went into the room where I was to have my surgery, the women in there didn't talk to me or even make eye contact. Luckily, the Anesthetist went right to work, so I was "out" within minutes.
Abby was right next to me as I awoke. She did a great job at making sure I was comfortable and warm. HOWEVER, I could tell that they were trying to get me out of there ASAP. Abby seemed stressed that my husband was a little late getting back (CVS was SLOW with my prescriptions). I didn't feel ready to leave. I was shivering so hard that I thought I was going to puke. The pain was so intense that I didn't want to move. However, as soon as my husband came up that elevator, they had me in a wheelchair, ready to go. Herding me out like cattle. Dr Mulvaney crossed my path as I was leaving. All he said to me was, "Are you hurting? Looks like it." Wow. Another good example of his bedside manner.

The most frustrating part of this ordeal is that I have been trying to get a hold of CARLA for over two weeks now. All I want is help with a few questions I have about my husband's semen analysis. I've called 7 times and have left 4 messages. I've had many of the other office staff tell me that they'll have Carla call me. However, 14 days after my first call to her, IT STILL HAS NOT HAPPENED. How rudely unprofessional. April has helped me as much as she can with the results (via email), but I would like to talk with someone about the questions I have.

We will not be returning to NCCRM, nor would we recommend them to anyone.

While we were able to quickly get an appointment and were shown to an exam room in a timely fashion, the experience went downhill from there.

After losing almost 175 pounds with the help of bariatric surgery, Dr. Toma told me that I was still too overweight to conceive and that I needed to "quickly and rapidly" lose weight. He then recommended extreme measures to achieve these weight loss goals and attempted to promote their "sister business" which is a weight loss surgery practice (I believe). Considering I was strictly following my surgeons guidelines, I declined.

I was then informed that my only choice was IVF even though we were sure the problem was with my husband. An IUI, coincidentally a less expensive procedure, was not even mentioned.

I left the office in tears and my husband was livid. It felt like a meat market, hustling people through in order to get the best record.

We went elsewhere and conceived on our second IUI. Save your money.

I am a nurse in a hospital with surgery patients. I would agree that Dr Toma is very smart and probably very good at what he does but his pre-op and post-op (recovery room) nurse is horrible and created a lot of problems. She was rude to my husband, rushed me out because there were patients waiting. I could not open my eyes, walk without my husband carrying me, I was vomiting and dry heaving the whole ride home ( she told my husband it would be fine to drive 4 hours home even though we had booked a room for the night, she told him I would be more comfortable at home) I choked when my husband gave me some crackers and water in the car. And I got a staph infection from them. I had to be admitted into the hospital in my home town and the general surgeon here told me the infection was due most likely to something contaminated in the OR...... RUN FAST Oh and they did not have the Dr and CRNA speak with my husband even though he could only do one tube and the CRNA could not intubate me and had to use an LMA instead of a ETT......I had bruises under my chin from him trying so hard. Office failed at calling back promptly when I had problems....If you go here hope that you dont have any issues because if you do they just leave you high and dry.....oh and plan on being discharged 45 minutes after you get out of surgery ......the recovery room nurse treats you like cattle......the rest of the office staff was great, especially the office nurse during my consultation and follow up visit (which I had an infection already at just 5 days after surgery) I developed the infection less than 48 hr after surgery.... they really should replace the recovery nurse and get better after hours call people.

Dear Colleen, We are sorry you had a negative experience with us. We would like you to contact us directly to address the issues you point out in your review. As you know since you are a nurse, we cannot discuss much of this information on-line as it is a HIPPA violation. Please call Sharon at 919-810-5085 to discuss your experience. Thank you.

I have been waiting awhile to write this review, and now that I have just gotten home from seeing my new baby's heartbeat on the 8 week ultrasound-I feel like now is a good time. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this center. Having been to both NCCRM and CC, I can say with no doubts whatsoever that NCCRM is by far the superior choice.

Unfortunately, I started my 3 year infertility journey at Carolina Conceptions. From my first visit at CC, I felt like herded cattle. The entire staff was rude, and the doctor hardly looked up from her computer during our consultation. The consultation was the ONLY time I actually saw a Dr. there (even though I had 3 procedures), except for after 4 nurses failed to be able to insert the catheter. Finally, after 45 minutes of excruciating pain, they went and got a Dr. for the IUI. Needless to say, that procedure (as well as many others) didn't work. I found myself desperate and ready to throw in the towel on our baby journey, but a friend convinced me to give NCCRM a try.

From the beginning, it was a completely different experience. The staff was courteous and friendly as well as the nurses. I personally loved working with Dr. Toma. He is a straight shooter, and I appreciate that style. His job is to get you pregnant (not tell you what you want to hear) and he is excellent at his job. He actually cared why I was not getting pregnant, as opposed to just scatter shooting procedures at me and hoping something sticks. I also found him friendly and quick to laugh. Within one week, he had my issue diagnosed. Within another two weeks, my issue was corrected through surgery. See, I had what is called a tubal hydrosalpinx, and until this was removed-pregnancy was virtually impossible. CC never bother to check-this basically translated into about $15,000 of procedures at CC that had basically no chance of working. (Yes-I am still pretty ticked about this). Dr. Toma and NCCRM discovered my problem, fixed it, and gave me realistic expectations about what to expect for the future. I am so thankful for Dr. Toma's expertise and my husband and I both appreciated his direct, forthright, and honest manner. If I needed someone to hold my hand, I would go to a counselor....but I wanted to get pregnant, and this is the guy to do that.

Needless to say, my second IVF cycle with NCCRM worked and I am currently 8 weeks. We could not be more thrilled with our experience. The staff and nurses were always helpful, always available (within a realistic amount of time), and I always felt like they cared about me as a patient. Dr. Toma did all of the major procedures (IVF, salines, pregnancy ultrasounds, biopsys, surguries)- which was not my experience at CC. Wait times were hardly ever bad. If they were, it was generally because the Dr. got stuck in surgery (which is understandable) and the staff was always quick to let me know the wait time to expect and offer me other options.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend NCCRM to anyone experiencing infertility. I completely trusted that my Doctor had my best interest at heart. I felt like I was part of a big family that really wanted me to achieve my dream of starting a family, and I felt supported every step of the way. I know that they are excited for me, and I will be sad to graduate to a normal OB soon. Go there...and be confident that you are in great hands!!!

I have read some of the recent negative reviews of this clinic and I would like to add a very positive one...
My husband and I were extremely pleased with Dr. Toma and the entire staff at NCCRM. We were treated with kindness and respect. All of our questions regarding financing, medications, procedures necessary, and expectations were laid out in a very efficient manner. We had previously sought help through another local clinic and had the complete opposite experience. We are now 14 weeks pregnant with a little boy and couldn't be more pleased!! Thank you Dr. Toma and the entire NCCRM staff!!

Dear J.B., Thank you for the kind review about your experience at NCCRM. We wish you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy and can't wait to meet your baby boy soon.
.

I saw one review in the negative claiming to be the "College Educated" opinion on the matter of competency of NCCRM.
Let me write one in the favorable opinion.
NCCRM, Dr. Toma, Carla, Linda (reception) were the most sensitive and compassionate Medical professionals I have ever met. We were diagnosed, treated and released inside of six months, and I am thrilled to report I am now three months along with our first (seemingly successful) pregnancy. I have been pregnant upwards of five times and never knew why I kept losing my babies. In going to Dr. Toma we were recommended a treatment plan based on OUR needs as a couple.
We did not go through IVF and were never even recommended it based on our specific issues. We paid (mostly) with our insurance, there is some out of pocket, but nothing I would deem anywhere near excessive.
Six weeks into my pregnancy I requested a LOA from my (strenuous) work in order to ensure a successful first trimester. Dr. Toma listened to my questions, options and together we came to a conclusion. I was released from NCCRM to my OB yesterday and I was hesitant to do so because they had kept such a close and attentive eye on us up until my 12th week.
I will never forget our very first conversation with Dr. Toma and subsequently Nurse Carla; He told me that in couples like my husband and I, he understood how long we've waited and the journey we must have taken to walk into his office and that he was not in the business of making people wait longer. Nurse Carla told us that he was indeed 'aggressive' but for good reason. She then answered about 50 questions from my husband and me. Now, like I said previously we are in perfect shape for a healthy baby inside the next six months.
As we were leaving the office yesterday we saw Carla and Dr. Toma in passing and both REQUESTED to see pictures of the ultrasound we'd just completed. They both had genuine and sincere smiles on their faces as I showed them. I never once got even the slightest impression that there was anything but exceptional medicine being practiced there.
In short, every second spent in that office was for a purpose and I cannot think of a better use of my time when I hear/see my baby growing happy and healthy. I am exceedingly grateful for their expertise precision and patience.

Kelley, Thank you for the very kind words of support for our staff at NCCRM. We truly are motivated by couples like you. Nearly all of us are parents at NCCRM, some with no fertility challenges and some with. We understand the depth of emotion that trying to have a baby brings. The struggles are enough to rip many people to shreds. But we believe that each person deserves to have the chance to conceive, one way or another. We are thrilled for you all and can't wait to hear about your little one in 2013.
.

Had a great experience with NCCRM. The staff was courteous. They were very fun loving and easy to talk to. Carla was exceptionally helpful answering questions within reasonable amount of time. Dr. Toma was very straightforward and did not beat around the bush about the procedure. He answered my questions honestly and was very thorough. My wife and I were happy with our experience and recommend them to others. Our IVF cycle was very successful. We have twins through NCCRM.
I saw the negative reviews and wholeheartedly disagree with what they say and would recommend NCCRM to my friends. I was actually referred by my friend to them.

Don't go here unless you want to be herded like cattle. They rope you in at the start and then string you along and turn into devils. I have worked with the public for over 20 yrs and I have never been treated as rudely as I have been here - the secretaries care more about gossiping in front of clients and talking with family on the phone than they do about working. Molly, the young receptionist has the rudest, "I could care less" attitude and needs to go to charm school so she can actually grow a heart and become a REAL human being instead of a large & bitter robot. They apparently think that you have no schedule and could care less about you or your concerns. Carla (IUI nurse in Cary) is the only one that is truly genuine & Dr Mulvaney means well, but is stretched too thin between two offices - he is THE ONLY one that explains things so that a layperson can understand them - Dr Toma is the most rude, inconsiderate, obnoxious and arrogant Dr. I have ever met. He needs to formally retire since he obviously checked out of patien care decades ago. Don't bother asking him any questions, he would rather mock you than treat you like someone who provides income to him and the practice. Save yourself the money, (10k + meds that are 3K for one cycle) the hurt, the aggrevation and the stress & time and go somewhere else- anywhere else would be better than here. Trust me. I have NEVER been treated with such little respect as I have been at NCCRM.

Dr Toma was courteous and to the point. Because I traveled 1.5 he's for a consultation he scheduled my ultrasound the same day. He was funny and made me feel comfortable during the ultrasound. Don't listen to the bad reviews about him. My husband and I were happy with our first meeting of Dr. Toma. His staff were so nice .

My husband and I traveled over 1400 miles to NCCRM for our TR and we left very impressed with the overall service, surgery and dedication this office took to ensure we were comfortable. Dr. Toma was definately straight to the point, but that's what I wanted. He explained the procedure including pros and cons. He took the time to talk to my husband after the surgery to let him know firsthand how everything went. I didn't have a bad experience with this clinic at all. I would definately recommend them to couples considering having a TB!

We would definitely recommend NCCRM for tubal reversal surgery. I don't understand the people who have negative things to say about Dr. Tuma. He was ver professional and laughed with us, when we were cracking jokes. He very thoroughly explained the procedure. We wet to have my tubes reverse and that is exactly what he did. He was not the touchy-feely type, but I wouldn't care if he was. The nurses were sweet and full of Southern charm. My only complaint is that recovery room was also the pre-op room, therefore it was quiet crowded.

i won't comment on there ability to assist people with getting pregnant, except that there are better places in the area. Note that they give you different packages to buy for Ivf like it's cable tv or something. The real reason is because there is at least two better places to go in the Raleigh area. The thing I hate is the overbook and never... I am not kidding... Never do you get in with 45 minutes of your scheduled time. Rarely do you even get to see the dr. We had a consultation and waiting 1 hr and 15 minutes because the dr wasn't even there. So he walks in and we immediately go back to his office with him. The consultation starts and he doesn't have our file. The nurse brings it in a few minutes later and the consultation was really him just asking us about what we have been doing taking etc. Because he did read our file. A $200 bill comes two weeks later for the "consultation". Unprofessional poorly run

It appears all the complaints are similar in speaking of Dr Tuma. Yes Dr Tuma is very straightforward with his patients. However you don't want to waste your time with a pat on the back and lying doctor. Dr Tuma is very good at what he does and I believe in him. His IVF and IUI nurses are extremely friendly, helpful and passionate about your experience. And Brenda at the front desk is always a pleasure to deal with. The office is extremely busy and that tells me that he is good at what he does. NCCRM past patients are so busy caring for their new babies that they don't have time to BLOG or write reviews. We are believers and know that Dr Tuma isn't GOD so we pray for his knowledge and precise skills to help us achieve our parental goals. Baby dust wishes to all!

Dear Edward, Thank you for your kind words about Dr. Toma and our staff at NCCRM. We hope that people take these reviews with the grain of salt. After a truly disastrous experience at UNC we tried NCCRM. CC was fairly new so we never gave them a shot but we thought about it

First the good: The staff was very attentive (after a couple of desensitized
ude nurses left), The Doctors are knowledgeable

The Neutral: The last reviewer is correct. I do not think they have ever seen us on time, but saying that after the doctor(s) basically canceled his entire morning to treat me one day I can not complain about waiting. I know my treatment forced everyone else to wait for hours. The clinic is chaotic at best so much so we thought about leaving until we read that this SOP for the more successful clinics. According to the Dummies Series on fertility (by the way this is the absolute best book on infertility I have read) you do not want to go to a organized clinic, it means they are not busy and that is because they have low success rates. Doctor Toma has a bad reputation for his bedside manner. This is true but that is because he cuts to the chase, and is brutally honest. If you want to get your results sugar coated Dr Tomas is not the doctor for you.

The bad: The clinic is not infallible, and you have to watch it. The doctors seem to have problems reading test results. I personally think its because they do not spend enough time on it but it does not inspire confidence to have a technician override the doctor, or to ask for second opinion (within the same clinic) and find out the doctor was wrong

In a nutshell going to a fertility clinic alone is frustrating, the doctors could have shown a little more empathy but in the end my treatment was successful, and that is what counts. Good luck to everyone who is attempting to conceive

My husband and I tried NCCRM, after trying CC and visiting with Duke. NCCRM says all the right things, but they really fail to deliver what is promised because of huge disorganization with this practice. I was astounded what I heard while in the waiting room. I heard several appointments being made and the log in and passwords being announced right out in the open. In one week we had 3 appointments scheduled and we were not able to see the doctor during any of the appointments because they were overbooked, or failed to even show up to the clinic. It's beyond not being professional, it is pathetic. Also, don't expect the website to work, not once did any information actually get posted. I still, after several weeks, have yet to hear about lab results. The disorganization in the clinic is a huge disservice for those who really need fertility help. It's a sad truth, but their patients are definitely not their priority.

I will never go here again. My first two cycles where canceled. Finally in December 2010 the transferred 3 embro's. Then, sent me home and then the next day I started having really bad pains. I called the nurse and she said it was normal. After my two week wait and still in a lot of pain, my HCG came back negative. I told the nurse i was still hurting and she said its normal. After a couple of days I went to another and with in a hour I was at the Hospital having emergency surgery on my appendex that almost burst. I found out they didn't do bloodwork on retreival or transfere. We paid $13,000 to these people and they almost killed me. I asked for my money back and they said they will give me 15% off on my next cycleand now I am talking to a lawyer.

In all honesty this is the Worst Dr's care I have ever received. My husband and I came to NCCRM blind and young. We were dazzled by there #'s and we were longing for a baby. What we Got was 18 destroyed embryo's a failed IVF and a hyperstimulation that ended up with a ER visit. I would never in a million years reccomend going here. They are a baby making factory and do not care for their patients. There are so many clinics out there who care for their patients. I would strongl suggest doing your HW and staying away from NCCRM.

My husband and I recently went hear and fell in love with the staff and Dr. Mulvaney. I am confused my the negative reviews about the courtesy of the staff because they were all very nice and professional to us. It seems like the reviews are split on this clinic and carolina conception. I have been to both. We started out withCC and we just did not vibe well with the RE. The office staff at CC too were very professional. We are starting our first attempt at IVF in January and we feel Dr. M is very capable of taking care of us. We did wait more than 10 mins for the nurse. She was very cheerful and we had a late appt in the afternoon. She escorted us to Dr. M and he spent nearly half hour with us going over our history that he already read and then discussing how they could help us. Then the financial lady came in and went over everything with us including next steps. Brenda (scheduler) was very warm and made sure our appts were convenient and she also explained their office hours and procedures for future appts.

We all want a personal connection to our doctor and some require a more personal feel from their RE. I too appreciate warmness in a doctor but I think to give a negative review based on the warmness you feel is a bit unfair. This infertility thing is such a roller coaster ride and it helps when your doct is in it with you. I feel this clinic is our answer. The rates are pretty much the same for this area and the do offer some discount for self paying customers. Give them a chance. And ask for Dr. Mulvaney!!!!

I had my surgery performed on December 22, 2010 by Dr. Gerald Mulvaney. I am very pleased with the medical care provided to me. There were so many negative reviews concerning NCCRM posted on the Web but; I decided to schedule a consultation in Greensboro with Dr. Mulvaney and I am glad that I did. Dr. Mulvaney is very thorough and knowledgeable in the Reproductive Endocrinology field and he took excellent care of me. The staff at NCCRM were very nice to me. They made sure that I was very comfortable and explained everything that my surgery would entail to me. I would definitely choose NCCRM over Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal any day. I was going to use CHTR until the day I called to schedule and they wanted to raise the fee even though I had an email stating that I could utilize a $4500 discount fee if I scheduled during the month of December on certain designated discount days. Their reviews are great, but; be aware of this pricing game they play and the managers support this practice even if you report it to them along with documentation. Just a warning! Please try NCCRM and Dr. Mulvaney for the price of $4500, not including the consultation fee of $280 without medical insurance, but; still an excellent fee for this specialty surgery. During your consultation, you will have an ultrasound done that will save time and money if problems are found. After the ultrasound you meet with Dr. Mulvaney and he explains everything to you, he is very patient and takes the time to answer all questions you may have. I think you will be happy with NCCRM. Two weeks after surgery you will have a follow up appointment that is included in the $4500 fee to make for sure you are healing properly. I am pleased with my surgery and I urge you to give NCCRM and Dr. Mulvaney a try!

My husband and I spent a year with NCCRM trying to get pregnant with no results. We did 2 fresh and 1 frozen cycle. We switched to another clinic and were pregnant with twins within 3 months. I don't want to bad mouth or bash this clinic. However, I do feel like people are spending a great deal of money and need to choose the best clinic for their specific needs. My words of advice would be to look at the SART report online for their results (You may be shocked!), go to a clinic that is confident with 5 day transfers and does them on a regular basis, choose a doctor that is board certified in endocrinology and most of all select a doctor that has a clear concise plan of action. Even if I hadn't gotten pregnant at the second place, I would've felt as though we exhausted every attempt and that I got the best possible service. The doctor called me personally on several occasions to discuss my case. I didn't even need a doctor with a great bedside manner as long as they were knowledgeable in their field. However, I felt as though I received neither at NCCRM. All I'm saying is do your research before going to NCCRM. If you have any questions or need more information, please email me at achurch1853@aol.com.

I went to NCCRM to start fertility treatment. The office staff was very friendly. I did not like the doctor at all. He had a horrible bedside manner. I felt like I was bothering him by asking questions about my treatment. He talked to me as though I was an idiot and should know better. I would not recommend anyone going to this center. I am now a patient at Duke Fertility where they are great! Go there instead.

The only complaints I have is that my daughter had a reversal done a couple of weeks ago and the day she went into surgery the nurses Gail and Brenda were very nice. Made her feel real comfortable. But when they took her into the operating room we never saw the doctor first. Dr.Toma did the operation. Well once the surgery was done and we had been waiting we still never saw the doctor. He was doing another surgery just has my daughter was getting ready. Gail said well we can pop our heads in and see what he needs to say if anything. Now I thought that was very rude of him. Once for not coming out and letting her know what or how the surgery was. Then when she got home the bandages on the paper to clean them was not clear either. She had strips on their to. But not one person or nurse called to check on her after surgery. On the web it states you may follow up with your doctor for post op but we never made the appointment before we left. This was a major surgery either way you look at it. And I always thought the surgeon comes out and tells how surgery went and what he thought about it. Not on the day she goes back for pre-op that she had to call her self to make a appointment for. No nurses whatsoever called to check to see how the surgery went afterwards. That's all I have to say!!

After paying for every infertility test known to man, we were refused entry in their CROPS program. We were given no specific reasons for CROPS refusal only that Dr Toma makes those decisions and he decided we were not candidates. We were advised we could continue with the IVF Cycle with no risk sharing. One of the test I was required to take (600.00 dollars) was a sperm DNA fragmentation test. Just prior to
our IVF cycle, Dr Mulhvaney reviewed our records, he made no mention of my DNA fragmentation test. After a failed IVF Cycle, Toma reviewed our records and said....no wonder she did not get pregnant..with your sperm DNA fragmentation levels, the only she'll get pregnant is with donor sperm...
It would have been nice to know we had a 0 chance of success before we paid them 15000.00 dollars.

Well, just like someone else had to respond to "semi-literate negative reviews", I have to respond to positive judgmental reviews and offer a LITERATE, college educated negative review...
It is hard enough going through infertility, it is not necessary to insult reviewer's intelligence in the process.

NCCRM completely misrepresented themselves. I had many conversations with Ms. H, Donor Recipient Coordinator regarding FET utilizing donor embryos. We had many phone conversations regarding the process, the schedule, the medicines and the specific next steps. Paper work was all done. I was told the next steps would be to set up actual cycle timing. I LOVED that Ms. H was enthusiatic, supportive and 'seemed' very organized. In the very first phone conversation one of the first questions I asked of Ms. H was - "Do you do out of state FET with donor embryos?"
She answered, "Oh, yes!"

Well, my husband and I were checking calendars, scheduling labwork, we were doing what was required on our end. I then get a single sentence EMAIL from Ms. H that they are not taking out of state patients at this time?! First, they didn't have the decency to even call me, when all of our discussions were via phone. Second, when I asked to talk to a doctor, Dr. Toma passed me off to another doctor who wasn't even part of the process.

For those in the business of helping people to become parents, it would seem that the innate responsiblity would not be taken so lightly. The roller coaster that infertility causes in our lives - the emotional, logistical, the physcial and the relationship stresses it adds - should not be forgotten.

NCCRM added to our reproductive roller coaster by making false promises, getting our hopes up and then treating us without respect. People make mistakes and if this was an 'honest' mistake, call and use the same warmth and caring that was afforded to us when it was believed that out of state patients were accepted.

Use caution when working with NCCRM. It sounds like you may have a great experience, or like ours, really feel like they mistreated you.

Contacted NCCRM to be an embryo donation recipient. Ms. Hopkins described the process and outlined everything and made it sound like it was really a straightforward process. She knew I was out of state and it was one of the first things

I was a tubal reversal patient seen on March 26 2010, I saw Dr. Toma, and he was very professional and to the point. I have read alot of negative reviews on him and his practice in general, people saying he has no bedside manner and such, if your looking for a doctor to hold your hand and be more sympathatic than skillfull he is probably not the doctor for you. If your looking for a doctor who is to the point and skillfull at what he does then your in good hands. I have had no complications from my surgery, and they dont put your through all the red tape that other practices put you through. His nurse April was very sweet and always promptly responded to me, his Operating room nurses were funny and sweet as well. The anesthesiololgist (sp) was awesome. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the recovery room.......I woke up really nauseas, and i felt rushed to hurry up and leave, I just felt like i needed a few more minutes to keep from puking my guts up, and she just seemed aggravated with me, and my husband said she even rolled her eyes because i was crying because I felt so bad. But it ended well and Dr. Toma came in to recovery and asked me if I was ok and wrote a script for the nausea, he reassured me that my surgery went well. :) I would reccomend this practice to anyone and feel free to email me if you have any other questions...mzsanchez7616@yahoo.com

I wanted to share my experience, especially after reading some heartbreaking reviews. My Husband and I were referred to NCCRM by a friend who had a wonderful experience here and as a result now has two beautiful daughters. We initially went to Dr. Toma with the hopes of doing Invitro. When we arrived, we did have to wait but not too long. We were called to wait again in a small office....here we did wait for quite some time which we expected. I don't know of many Doctors offices where you don't have to wait. Dr. Toma met with us and was very pleasant. He answered all of our many questions and didn't make us feel rushed. He also suggested for me to have a tubular reversal instead of Invitro. Which for us was less expensive and the pregnancy rate was more in our favor, we truly felt he was thinking about our interest less his own. We scheduled another appt. for a saline us for scarring (I've had three c-sections) We came back for this visit, didn't wait too long, went back for the US and Dr. Toma was again, very pleasant. It was a quick visit but we weren't expecting anything different. Dr. Toma told us we looked great and his nurse would call me to schedule surgery. We scheduled our surgery and even had to reschedule to meet our needs. And the staff again was very helpful. We had our surgery yesterday (jan. 29th), everything went well. Dr. Toma and his staff were excellent. We feel our prayers were answered and have very much to be thankful for. I was quite nervous but my wonderful Husband prayed with me and the polite, upbeat, caring nurses were great in helping me relax. I'm not sure what the future holds for us, but we are hopeful and trust God has it all planned out. My only eyebrow raiser is for one receptionist whom I hesitate to deal with for many reasons, so I ask for Lindsay (she's great). Also want to mention that April was fantastic, Gayle (surgery nurse) was warm and very helpful. This practice, like all others, isn't perfect. What's important is to do research before investing time and money. Hopefully this will keep you from heartache and will place you with the right Practice that will help you be successful in your journey. Prayer for us was most important! I would referr Dr. Toma to others, I feel he is exceptional based on our experience.

I was not at all impressed. I've interviewed many RE's and I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Dr. M did not shake my hand nor did he introduce himself. He sat through our consultation with his bluetooth in his ear! I drove 2.5 hours for a consultation at this clinic and a psychological evaluation (for embryo adoption) and the psychologist called 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment to reschedule! One of the nurses had on so much perfume I thought my head would explode. Not impressed. Would not refer anyone to this clinics.

With some of the negative reviews on this board from of the semi-literate former patients of NCCRM, I felt I should leave my own feedback.

My wife and I just finished IVF with NCCRM and have no real complaints. Dr. Toma is very direct and honest - something my wife and I both appreciate. If you are one of those people that weighs 400 lbs but gets upset when your doctor tells you to lose weight, you should probably go somewhere else. You are given very, very specific written directions at the beginning of the process, with a voice mail left for you each night regarding testing done that day. The process is somewhat overwhelming, but if you follow the directions you are given and ask any questions when you are there each morning for testing, you will be fine. If you are one of those people that needs personal assistance to use the internet or pump gas, you should probably go somewhere else. The cost was FAR lower than another fertility clinic we first visited which had similar success rates.

I will say that with some of the people that we were in our initial ??class? where you discuss the process with a nurse before you commit were probably some of the same people who wrote in with negative reviews. From one couple who wanted the practice to modify their lab schedules so that they wouldn??t have to come in each morning (all patients are tested daily during one stage) to the guy who threw a temper tantrum when he was billed $125 for an hour consultation that his insurance didn??t cover and demanded to ??speak to someone? instead of paying his bill and taking the matter up with his insurance company to the woman who asked the same question five times in a row during our class, each time being answered, there are plenty of people who were unhappy. These people end up driving up costs for everyone, and I don??t think it is any mistake or coincidence that the processes at NCCRM make them frustrated and send them somewhere else.

Tomah and NCCRM are amazing! After one extremely frustrating year with Carolina Conceptions, I cannot sing the praises for NCCRM and Dr. Tomah loudly enough! The difference in personal attention, assessment of my situation, and price is beyond belief. I only saw nurses at Carolina Conceptions and their only solution was more money, more injectables more drugs. Each month I was told that I wasn't responding well enough, despite spending $3000-5000/cycle on dr. visits and drugs. Plus, I always had at least one, often two, large, viable eggs. Turns out CC only did a partial analysis of my husband's sperm, thus I was being treated improperly and it ended up costing me nearly $10,000 (out of pocket) more than it should have cost! In additon, the office staff and nurses were kind and quite accomodating, but the Office Manager at CC was downright rude. Tomah recommended clomid and IUI for just a few hundred per cycle vs. CC continually recommending injectables for 10x the cost. Don't be put off by NCCRM's worn office and longer waiting period (I did wait about 1/2 hour in the waiting room). The personal attention and cost savings are well worth the wait and the worn furniture. Dr. Tomah is honest, kind, and helpful. He has given me hope when CC only gave me empty promises and an evaporating checking account. Trust me. I know what you're going through and Dr. Tomah can help you.

last year at age 33 went to see Dr. Vulgaropolos at NCCRM with secondary infertility.Besides the long wait I had to chase the nurses for lab results, phone calls after phone calls and no response, finally I called bac and asked to speak with the doctor adn they are simply unreachable. Then a nurse calls me back explaining how bad my lab results look but could not answer any further questions I had, and plus if my reports are that bad, I expect a call from the doctor and not the nurse. Then I go back to see Dr V. and he was just cold and most non-compassionate and un-interested.I decided to leave the same day and since been at Duke fertility.

I had a tubal reversal done in March of this year and I am happy to day that I an expecting! I was a little impatient when it came to reaching a nurse for my test results, but the ending was worth waiting for.

This practice may have a great success rate, but I felt like I was at a breeding farm. The care of the female patient is absolutely horrid. Find another clinic!!!

Been there with my wife, appointment was of 2:30 PM and we got Dr Toma at 4 PM to see us, and just for 3 mins. When doctor talks to in a good way and assures you things will be okay we will take care of you, you get confident and confidence drives everything, but this was not the case with Dr Toma. He does not seems to interested in knowing your part of story, interested in knowing when you want to start IVF and IUF, all money game. He may have had dinner with Mr Bush, but whats a big deal is he really a good in his profession? I felt he just want to be politician and NCCRM is his second most important thing for him.Go to other places except NCCRM

In my view, Dr. Toma's behavior is totally unacceptable and borderline unethical. In addition to the horrific customer service (including extremely long--up to 3 hour--wait times, rude demeanor, and total lack of access to a doctor to answer any questions during a difficult and very unfamiliar, complex procedure), there are several extremely disturbing events that occurred during my experience with NCCRM, including but not limited to, conducting unnecessary procedures, giving me incorrect or incomplete instructions/prescriptions, and failing to answer direct questions about my treatment. Avoid this practice! Dr. Toma appears to be solely concerned with profit and puts quantity over quality at every turn. While nice and polite, the billing staff made several mistakes (including filing claims and receiving insurance payments twice for the same exact treatment and refusing to refund the insurance company's money for several months) and failed to timely file insurance claims which lead to me having to pay out of pocket more than I should have given my coverage. In addition, after paying several thousands of dollars, I had one last bill for $70 remaining after over a year of dealing with insurance and office billing mistakes that was sent to a collection agency just a few weeks after sending me the corrected bill (and AFTER I had already paid it and they cashed my check)!!! I was absolutely stunned. After all the discussions we had over billing/insurance issues during the past year, they are clearly aware that I am paying attention, concerned about my account, and responsible with my credit (I ALWAYS pay what I owe in full and on time), but they sent a small bill to collection without any notice. They are totally inconsiderate and obviously only concerned with money. AVOID this place!!! I have since been to Carolina Conceptions and couldn't be happier--excellent service, competent and caring doctors and staff, and respect (what a concept!). I would strongly recommend CC. Good luck to everyone seeking fertility treatments!

I went in, needing to speak to a nurse. All were in, "meetings". I have not started a cycle and they continue to put me off! I have since been in contact with Carolina Conceptions and they are totally different. They answer calls, nurses call back and Dr's email. What a change. We have a clear plan and will cycle in June! Breath of fresh air. Please do not waste your time here (NCCRM) It's all a numbers game. Dr. Toma refuses to answer questions! Run, run as fast as you can!

I was a patient at NCCRM from August 2007 - June 2008. When I went to my first appointment, I thought to myself, finally I am making progress as I've been trying to conceive for years. The farthest I had ever gone with infertility medication was clomid for 7 cycles, so I really thought conceiving would be easy for me. I have PCOS, but I am a healthy 36 year old female. During my IVF cycle, I developed 37 eggs, which 23 of them were fertilized (believe it or not, all grade 4). Two of which were transferred during the IVF cycle (the remaining were frozen). At any rate, during the transfer, I noticed that Dr. Toma was fumbling while conducting the procedure. It took him a while to complete the transfer. I assistant had to leave out of the room at least two times to get a different instrument. It turns out, he couldn't get through my cervix. It's no surprise that I did not get pregnant (and I did not feel confident about the procedure when i walk out of the office, I knew I didn't work just because of the way he was fumbling through the procedure). Here is the issue I have to this day...I had four frozen embryo transfers after my initial IVF procedure. Can you believe he had the same issue all 4 times? He couldn't get through my cervix? After everything was all said and done, he tells me that he couldn't get through my cervix because I had scar tissue. Here is another issue...I didn't have scar tissue before NCCRM started the IVF and FET cycles. I was very disappointed. Additionally, the other reviews were correct about the wait time. Everything was absolutely true. I don't know about the Greensboro office, but the Cary office was very disappointing to me.

Don't go here unless you want to be herded like cattle. We wait on average one hour before we see anyone at our visits. They rope you in at the start and then string you along and turn into devils. I have worked with the public for over 20

Message from North Carolina Center For Reproductive Medicine

Infertility can be a personal crisis with many facets. In fact, one of six couples in the United States faces this challenge. At NCCRM, we try to minimize that stress by being sensitive to the fact that infertility can cause a couple marital, sexual, religious and financial anxieties. Our practice takes a holistic approach to the treatment of our patients. We feel a private setting helps facilitate this goal. It provides confidentiality, individualized treatment plans and total care within one center.

At NCCRM, we deliver dreams one baby at a time.
