Love, love love these guys!!! I had never been there even though a lot of my collegues use them. Just a bit out of my way. My four lb. yorkie got hurt by one of my big dogs, holes in his intercostal muscle. I went to a vet near work because I wanted to be close to him, but they couldn't do the surgery. They called Abris and asked if they could and Dr. B said sure bring him over. He was so loving and kind to my little guy. He did the surgery and I picked him up that evening with pain meds and antibiotics and a pressure bandage. Dr. B wanted to see him again in a few days just to make sure there was no leakage. He x-rayed him for free!! The price was spot on. I will not bring my dogs anywhere else from now on.

Ihave been taking my dogs to Abri for several years. I'm shocked at the reviews posted. However, I believe the problem is that this web page is dated. The staff has changed dramatically, some still have a full head of hair. The staff at Abri is caring and the girls in the boarding kennel are especially dear to my heart. My dogs are always so happy to see them!!! I have heard others in the waiting room say the same thing. They love coming to doggie camp!!!! A SATISFIED CUSTOMER

I would first like to say that the vets themselves are caring and competent! HOWEVER!!!
!My dog went in for neutering. I specifically relayed that he had only been kenneled once with disastrous results injuring himself. He was placed on a concrete floored kennel with no blanket. I tried to get the vet to let me bring him home early realizing that as soon as the anesthesia wore off he would be upset enough to injure himself. I called repeatedly and asked to bring him home. I asked to visit and assess him for myself. I was told no.
When I picked him up first thing the next morning they told me his paws were bloody and injured because he tried to dig out of that concrete and chain link kennel. No one made ANY effort to listen to my suggestion for MY beloved pet. He was simply treated without any regard to his past history or his gentle nature.
When he saw me is the office he looked at me as if to say "How could you do this to me?" My dog is exceptionally well trained. I am often asked to train other peoples dogs because he is beyond belief in his behavior and his willingness to please. When I think of how I let the staff take liberties with my most beloved friend it sickens me. My dog should not have gone through this.

If you want a higher level of comfort and care for your pet I would suggest Animal Ark.

If all you can afford is the basics, go to ABRI!

Once again the vets care very much...but the facilities are minimal and I was greatly displeased that no one made any effort to accommodate my dearest buddy and he left with torn, damaged and bloodied paws.

My cat and I headed to Abri Veterinary hospital for a Rabies shot and a Yearly checkup. As they do not take appointments, we just showed up. It only took about 10 minutes for us to see the vet.

The vet was very nice, to us and to my cat, but she prefers to declaw cats (which I consider inhumane).

They gave him the rabies shot easily, and did the normal checkup stuff. And he was out! They did not take blood work, they did not do a fecal check.... I had wanted these services for my senior cat, but when they weren't offered I decided to take him elsewhere for them.

It was only $40 for the rabies and checkup. If money's tight, I recommend Abri. If you want a little more for your pet (or if you have a senior pet who needs a little more attention) I recommend you go somewhere else.

For almost 20 years I have done business with Abri, even worked there at one time as a groomer and I have never met more dedicated Vets then Dr.Harris,Dr Bocholis ( doctor B) ,and Dr.Fox.
I have watched as they treated pets with the utmost respect and I have seen them shed just as many tears as a grieving pet owner. They have even cried with me on more than one occassion.
As for Robin....well Robin was a very young girl when she started work there and I did have the pleasure of working side by side with her.She is one of the biggest animal lovers I have ever met and I just can't imagine her being rude to anyone.
When my Malamute was diagnosed with heart worms by another vet who refused to treat her she went straight to Abri and Dr.Fox not only treated her he cured her.She was a mean dog but that did not stop Dr.Fox from doing the job he was trained to do.
God Bless you Dr.Harris,Doctor B. and Doctor Fox. You will always be angels to me, and I will always take my pets to Abri.

We knew our dog Belle was in her last days. My mom had called 5/11/07 to make an appointment to put her down. The desk lady (Robin or Traci) told her to come in anytime. My mom told them she planned to be there 5/12/07 @ 11am. When my mom returned home from my brothers ball game she found Belle was paralyzed and having trouble breathing (a stroke we think). We rushed her to ABRI (sooner then planned), Robin at the desk said someone would be with us in a few minutes. Remember our dog was dying in a mini van with 3 children (and 3 adults) and clients we didn't know witnessing her death as they walked by. We had also paid already. Robin let it be known she wouldn't be seen otherwise. Healthy dogs coming and going, 20 minutes pass and I told Robin at the desk that Belle needed help, now! She said it would be a few minutes more, with no compassion or apologies and in front of our children. What does this woman consider "few"? 20 more minutes had passed (40 minutes or more total) along with Belle.
Dr. Fox finally comes out and declares her dead. For some reason they tried the excuse of there being no rooms. Really? They couldn't ask someone to give up there room a minute for an emergency. Anyone who loves their pet would. Or better yet come outside to give her the shot. Which they later agreed to do but never did come. I found out later they had 4 vets there and 2 assistants at the desk.
There is more to this but I think this should be enough to go on. We were not referred to another emergency care vet. They were not honest enough to admit she wouldn't actually be seen in a "few" minutes. We had no private place to grieve. My children and brother had no private place away from other clients. Except the side of the building which was filthy! They could have at least told us to go home and spend what time Belle had left, together. Instead our first and favorite dog died in a mini van.
Belle had been abandoned and found by my parents. She wasn't in good conditioned when found but that soon changed. All that Belle had been through in her life and this was the treatment she received in her last hour.
What happened on 5/12/07 was dishonest and plain neglectful on Dr. Fox's part and Robins and who ever else was involved.
I'm begging you to find another vet!
Thank you for caring enough to read this review.

because I have dealt with them for almost 30 years and I have had nothing but praise for them as they have taken care of all my animals as if they were their very own. When my poodle died last July the doctor that was taking care of him actually cried with me. When my shitzu died this past October while I was at work and my mother was watching her for me he actually met me at the office at 130 in the morning and stayed with me crying and talking about his monkey ( that is what he called her) he was crying just about as hard as I was, I don't know who was consoling who at that point but it was very apparent that he was very hurt that they both died. The poodle died of a heart attack in my arms and my shitzu died of loneness from missing my poodle. So all in all Abri is a great place to take your sick animals. Thank you ABRI and to the doctors that has taken care of my animals.

Used to be good, now would not bring a goldfish there. Trusted Abri with our dog who had a kidney problem when we went out of town, thought it was better than leaving him with family since the vet could monitor his condition. Dog got worse, the vet called our cell phone once but it went straight to voicemail, they did not call the 2 emergency numbers we had listed. Instead our poor dog died in his cage alone at night. This was over a year ago and it still brings me to tears. I cannot imagine a more horrible way to lose a dog. The vet was not apologetic and proceeded to tell us exactly what happened. horrible bedside manner, horrible horrible place. Please do not take your animal here.

Message from Abri Veterinary Hospital, INC

Abri Veterinary Hospital offers a broad range of professional services. We have an in-house lab that runs CBC's, General Chemistry Profiles, Electrolyte Panels, T4 and cortisol . We also do in-house fecal floatations, heartworm checks (antigen), Felv(antigen) FIV (antibody) tests, Parvo tests, and Canine Ovulation Timing tests. All of these tests with the exception of the T4 and cortisol are run while you wait. This allows us a more accurate diagnosis of your pet's condition so that specific treatment can begin immediately. We also have an in-house radiology section. We do plain films, barium contrast studies, air contrast studies and urinary tract contrast studies. We provide a broad range of surgical procedures. We do the standard spays, neuters and declaws. In addition, we do bone pining and plating for fractured bones. We do soft tissue surgery such as tumor removals, malignant splenectomies, urinary tract surgery to remove calculi, urethrostomies, ear canal resections for chronic, non-responsive ear disease. We refer disc surgery of the neck and back and intra-ocular surgeries to a specialty practice that is located about 20 miles away. We currently use isoflurane inhalation anesthesia for the majority of our surgical procedures. Your pets vital signs can be monitored with a pulse-ox machine. In addition, we have a doppler blood pressure unit to measure blood pressure; especially important in cats with renal disease. We have an EKG machine to assess cardiac disease. We also have access to Cardio-pet, a telephone based system that allows instant access to a cardiac specialist if needed with the EKG being transmitted via the telephone. A tonopen allows us to evaluate your pet's eyes for glaucoma - a disease that needs early diagnosis and treatment.
