If you are wanting a real southern home cooked meal, this is the place to come to. Northerners looking for NY style anything should try somewhere else.
There is nothing fancy about the food, but I always am satisfied when I leave. My husband and I have been coming here for years, we used to eat here two-three nights a week for the daily specials during the week, which include anything from meat loaf and two sides to chicken parmesan, and spaghetti depending on what day of the week you come. Biscuits and cornbread are served with the daily special. I have found the service to quite good during the week. They have an excellent vegetable soup here as well. The daily specials during the week are the best value, and when I go there for lunch it is usually quite full. Evening meals on the week-end tend to be pricier, so we don't go then. They used to serve an excellent salt and pepper catfish on Friday and Saturday nights. (not sure if that is still on the menu) Sunday lunch is a tradition for many Waxhaw families after church so it does tend to get crowded. The Sunday buffet is very good with fried chicken, fish, and some good desserts. Our family also enjoys coming here after the Fourth of July parade to have their hamburgers and french fries and escape the heat. The wait tends to be longer because everyone else has the same idea. The sweet ice tea is good. Saturday breakfast is very good too, with eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits.

If you are looking for fast food, go to Bojangles or burger king. This is a family place with a sense of history. Pictures of times gone by line the walls and the rustic interior makes you feel a part of the history and ongoing story of Waxhaw.

Sunday Dinner at B & R is AWESOME. All you can eat buffet of real food, fried chicken, veggies, home made desserts. (And for all you newcomers Dinner is the noon meal) Come early or you'll have to wait in line.

Stopped and ate because they were not busy at all. Only a few tables sat. Took over 40 minutes to get our "fried" food and was not offered any explanation or apology. The food was wrong and not up to par. We asked for a manager, explained the situation and was given a blank stare and told he just got there and didnt know anything. We will not be back.
