the best veterinarian we have been to!

by rachel k.

my family and i love his clinic he has saved both of our dogs lives one of them he has saved twice! one of them was bitten by a copperhead as a puppy, the poor girl was so swollen! another occasion she had gotten pregnant from a larger stray and had one puppy in her that was one-third of her size she almost died from that too! she is a jack russel and kind of small so that puppy would have been huge! my other dog a black lab was poisened and he watched and cured him for almost a month! he was very generous and didnt charge us a whole lot of money! Another time my black lab was hit by a car and almost broke his leg thank goodness he hasnt. thank you Dr. Darch!

Sooo relieved. =]

by Lindsay B.

North Wake Animal Hospital is probably the best clinic I have ever taken my cat to.
My fiancee and I don't exactly make that much money, so when we were hit with kitty health problems, is was pretty devastating to us, Boots, and our bank account.
The staff was understanding, and Dr Darch was kind enough to work with us as much as possible.
He is the most knowledgeable veterinarian I have ever met, I believe.
He knew what he was talking about the whole time, and didn't beat around the bush, charging us for tests that he knew our kitty didn't need. (the other clinic wanted to keep him overnight and run tests for every disease known to feline kind)
He even came to the clinic on a Sunday to check on my cat after his surgery and let me know if I could pick him up that day.
Overall, we are very happy with the turnout, and are glad to see Boots recovering when we thought that it was just going to get worse.

I recommend NWAH to anyone and everyone, on a budget or not.

North Wake Animal Hospital is the best

by Lucinda R.

Dr. Darch is the most wonderful and knowledgable vet I have ever seen. He treats my Bonnie like she is his own pet. His staff is great and very nice. I would never take my pup anywhere else. And I live 30 miles from his office.

North Wake Animal Hospital is awesome!

by Paige T.

I drive 45 min. each way to take my dog. I picked this vet because I was nickeled and dimed by the time my first dog died with our first vet. Dr. Darch does not mince words but he is very honest. My dog has fatty tumors all over, and he will say just wait until he gets his teeth cleaned and we'll remove the bothersome ones effecting his gate. He even did surgery on a cat that lives with us, by his choosing, not ours, when he got an infection from a cat fight, and barely charged me anything. He also save me many, many dollars that the small animal vet in N. Raleigh wanted to charge me for my guinea pig who needed care now and then. It is important to have questions ready, and don't be afraid to ask what costs what. I was always embarressed at my old vet, but I like to know what I am paying for. Oh and if your animal has skin allergies, try Blue Buffalo fish and sweet potato. Contains no glutten.

North Wake Animal Hospital is the cats pajamas!

by Mike C.

Dr. Church and Dr. Darch have been great to my dog. They are very no nonsense and thorough. They also don't try and charge you for anything unnecessary. I would recommend NWAH to anyone!

North Wake Animal Hospital fixed the itch.

by R L.

Dr. Darch and Dr. Church have been wonderful to my Corgi. He has had chronic allergies and they simply fixed the problem unlike other veterinarians in the area. Very thorough and direct.

21 years of positive experiences

by Karlyn J.

I've been taking my cats to Dr. Darch for 21 years and have been very satisfied. I haven't always liked his intern vets but I always have a great experience with the man himself. He is committed to quality vet care and works with new vets to help them gain experience. If you get one of his interns, just ask for a second opinion from Dr. Darch himself. That is why they are there...to learn from the best.

Everybody has bad days and you never know what is going on in someone's personal life. Whenever I have been there, everyone is nice.

We Love Dr. Darch

by Jennifer M.

Okay, so some of the bad reviews say Dr. Darch wouldn't run extra tests and is "in a rush." Well one of the reasons I love Dr. Darch is he's NOT going to tell you you need to run 8 million expensive tests on your dog for a fatty tumor or something non-life-threatening... If you really want the tests run, tell him and he'll do it. He's just not going to recommend it unless he feels NECESSARY. But when necessary, he does recommend what needs to be done. My lab just had surgery to have 2 lumps removed. And Dr. Darch told me it needed to be done! And it was 1/2 the price it would have been elsewhere!!!

As for being in a rush, that's just his personality. You just have to make sure you have all your questions ready, and just ask them. He'll never make you feel stupid and he'll answer your questions. He's just not going to sit down and have tea with you or anything!

We have moved an hour and a half away from Wake Forest and still drive our dog back when it's time for check-ups because we love Dr. Darch.

World class vet

by Bubbly B. | insider Insider | Rank: 28,767

If you are looking for vet that offers small talk about the weather or how cute your little furry one is, the go the big box store for your care. Dr. Darch is one of the most qualified Vets in the area and does not mess around or waste anyone time. His prices are almost 1/2 price of typical big box store vet and he has far more experience.

?

by Joyce K.

I don't have a problem with Dr. Darch it is the other vets that work for him during the week. They almost seem as if they are unsure of themselves. I will continue to visit this hospital, but my advice to anyone planning on going to make sure you see Dr. Darch. He may not have the best bedside manner, but I have never questioned his abilities. There is a reason why his parking lot is always full, it is because of him.

Best vet in the Triangle area, paws down!

by Richard R.

Dr. Darch and his staff provide excellent, friendly, and professional service. They listen, and they will treat your pet as if it was their own. Dr. Darch helped me through the most difficult time in any pet owner's life: the passing of a beloved companion. When my old dog, Simon had a stroke at the ripe age of 15, there was no choice but to put him down. Dr. Darch was compassionate, gentle, patient, and understanding. Best of all, their fees are very reasonable. If you have a specific need, you won't get stuck with a long laundry list of additional services that serve primarily to fluff up your bill. Even with these crazy gasoline prices, it's still well worth the drive. I live in downtown Raleigh, but North Wake Animal Hospital is still the only vet I will use (and yes, I've tried 2 others, for the sake of comparison). I've been taking my pets there for more than 20 years now. That pretty much says it all. If you're looking for the best veterinarian clinic in town, congratulations... you found it.

Good experience - Don't believe the negative reviews

by Cathy T.

I recently adopted a kitten from the Franklin County Humane Society, and a free spaying at North Wake Animal Hospital was included in the fees. I also decided to purchase additional services from the North Wake Animal Hospital (such as additional shots, etc.) when I scheduled the spaying for my kitten. The office manager, Ellis, is fantastic and very helpful, offering great advice and information. All of the staff are friendly and caring. And we never had to wait for more than a minute or so to be serviced. Dr. Darch performed the surgery for my kitten and spoke with me before the surgery, when we dropped her off, as well as afterward, when we picked her up. On both occasions, he offered excellent advice and answered all of my questions. He is very caring and my kitten is doing great. I saw many people with their pets during my two trips to the hospital, and I even bumped into an acquaintance who has been going there for many years with her dog. No one complained or seemed upset in any way. It has been a fine experience and I will continue to go to this hospital as required for my pet. The only possible "negative" would be that it is an older building, but it is clean and maintained well, so it didn't bother me in the least.

need to find a new vet

by Anonymous

I went to North Wake to get my dog neutered. First I was scolded because his old vet failed to send over his records, even though I had called a couple days ahead of time to have that done. Then I was scolded because they couldn't find his rabies vac.on his history(we adopted him and his vac. was not under my name-but he had a rabies tag on his collar.) They took my dog away before I could show them his tags, and say goodbye to him. The doctor didn't ask,but told me I was getting heartworm medicine from him, didn't test the dog for it, and told me to give him the pills. when i called the 1800 number on the box, the company told me not to give the dog pills, because it could harm him if he hadn't been tested for it. When I picked him up the next morning, they didn't give me an itemized bill or receipt, charged me double the amount they told me it would cost over the phone, and rushed me out the door without telling me how he did or giving me the chance to ask questions.

GREAT DOCTOR

by Todd C.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Darch. After being left cheated and penniless after my experiences with Banfield Animal Hospital (whom I might add, charge for useless stuff and make you think your pet is near death, but is not and they are a CASH machine and that is an agreement sustained by every reputable vet..along with Leesville Animal Hospital who over charged and vaccinated our animals twice) I decided with my two new pups, I would go to North Wake Animal Hospital.

I actually purchased two Mini Schnauzers from a breeder named Judy out in the middle of Gods CountryLouisburg, who took her animals there and who highly recommended them as the vet. Living on the other side or Raleigh, it seemed like a great distance to travel, but I thought I would try them out. On our way through on US 1, we stopped in for a visit. I love the fact that we did not need an appointment, but more importantly, that there was no one in the room waiting.

After meeting my two, and us meeting them, I instantly fell in love with Dr. Darch's staff, my dogs did too, and they certainly fell in love with my two. They were so pleasant with them and ALWAYS have been. I even talked my brother in to taking his two new pups to them. After the same (previous) experiences, he was delighted to find what a treat this place was. They have all four gone through their spaying there, of which I personally received a follow up phone call for both of my dogs, to check on their progress, previous to the stitches being removed. I get all my shots and meds from there, I receive updates when something is due, and I just feel DOGGONE good about them!

I knew what set them apart from most was when I called the emergency line one night, my dog vomiting everywhere constantly, and under terrible GI distress. I had no clue what might have caused it, but there was an ornament on the floor, and a hook missing. I had a PANIC ATTACK! At 2:00 AM in the morning, Dr. Darch called me back immediately, and told me the things to check for, and after much time spent on the phone, decided that it was something that could wait until the following day. Sure enough, she went to see him the next day, and it ended up being a TUMMY ACHE, they gave her some meds, a strict diet with some food, and an A-OK. Even better, a VERY LOW BILL! I don't know what I would have done without his help that night.

So do I recommend him - CERTAINLY YES. Matter fact, I need to take my two Nubawaggins in to get some Frontline and Heartworm treatment this week. I cant understand the negative ads here unless they are vet offices in the area that are suffering in business because of how well this place does. As for someone saying they slam your animals on the table.are you for real? I have never seen him do that to ANY animal in my presence, much less mine.

KUDOS!!! TO YOU AND YOUR STAFF DOC!

Love North Wake Animal Hospital

by Lisa E.

I have 3 dogs and have always had a wonderful, caring experience. Dr. Darch is a great, no nonsense vet who does a fabulous job and will tell you straight up what needs to be done in the best interest of your pets. Kudos to Ellis ( at front desk) who is always there to greet you with a smile and a great attitude. I am very happy to have found them.

Very caring veterinarian hospital

by Brenda S.

I switched to N. Wake Animal Hospital years ago. I have always found this business to be a safe caring place to bring a sick animal. I have been in the rescue business for cats and dogs for many years and drive the distance to utilize this business. Dr.Lee Darch and staff provide excellent care to all animals, both pets and strays. He assists numerous groups and individuals who rescue stray and lost animals and is always available. This is a walk in clinic so your pet does not have to wait for an appointment when sick. I strongly support this business and recommend it to area residents and newcomers. I have numerous cats and dogs and ALL of mine are cared for by this veterinarian hospital. I note the complaints are all anonymous. Brenda S.

Best Vet Around!

by Susan L.

I have been a very satisfied client of North Wake Animal Hospital for 30 years. Dr. Darch and his staff have always been knowledgeable, courteous, kind, helpful, affordable, ( and available in emergencies) to me and my animals. I befriend every stray I see and head straight to Dr. Darch, He has never once hesitated to help me, no matter the condition/injury/illness of the dog or cat. He has saved abandoned puppies from parvo, successfully treated heartworms and many cases of mange, operated on broken bones, removed tumors, and stitched up wounds, just in recent months! He and his staff are always kind, supportive, and understanding when a sick/elderly animal crosses the rainbow bridge. He is also one of the few vets I know willing to work with feral cats. Many veterinarians refuse to treat feral cats, thus denying much needed spay/neuter options to these homeless animals.

I realize no one is perfect but North Wake Animal Hospital sets a standard few others attain. My animals are family members. I would not have remained their client for 30 years if I did not trust them and feel I am treated with kindness, respect, and professionalism. If you are "just looking for a vet" there are plenty to choose from. If you are looking for a very capable and good vet then Dr. Darch is the" Best Vet Around!"

Quality Medicine Legendary skills recognized beyond NC

by Sam M.

North Wake Animal Hospital is renown for Dr. Darch and his outstanding care. It's a very busy place reflective of Dr. Darch's well regarded reputation. My experience with my dog has been that Dr. Darch takes the time to listen, trouble shoot and problem solve with an effficiency that can only be indicative of his substantial expertise. My dog saw many vets around town before we made it to Dr. Darch's office and we received a correct diagnosis and finally a successful outcome!

A Loving, involved vet!

by Heather H.

I recently had to put my beautiful Dutchess to sleep. Dr. Darch took care of her a majority of her life and was always inquisitive, caring and a true friend to my family and my baby. He and his staff went above and beyond their duties to make an unbearable situation easier. They were compassionate and genuinely sympathetic. This is one of, if not THE best vet I have had in my 27 years as a pet owner. You will not be disappointed.

Best Vet Around!

by Kelly P.

Thank god for Dr. Darsch and his wonderful, caring staff. We recently moved here from MA and had a very sick kitty. We spent $800 at another vet trying to make him better. When I was running out of $$ I switched to North Wake and found out I would have spent only $200!! Great prices but even greater knowledge and compassion! His staff is so friendly and understanding...and Dr. Darsch himself....terrific! I'd recommend them to everyone! He understand how expensive it is to love animals and keep them healthy. He is not in it for the money! Thank God!

Best Vet around!!

Great Vet! No appt. needed and never had to wait more then 15mins. Prices are very reasonable. My dog had cherry eye and they corrected the problem for less then $80 and that's with medication. I took him else where close by to get an estimate and they wanted to charge $250. I drive from Raleigh just go come here. Well worth it. Best Vet around!!

Phenomenal Vet!

by beverly m.

After using several other vets, we found Dr. Darch and his staff. I have never had such a positive vet experience! My dog Oscar loves to go see them. They are affordable and very friendly. I love the open surgical area so you can watch what's going on. It let me know that they were open and honest with their patients and their families. They really care about everyone. Thank you Dr. Darch for being there for us!!!
