In my opinion, NOFO is Raleighs indie version of the Cracker Barrel. I sat amongst an assortment of pig- oddities while eating a sincerely delicious brunch. Let me offer an explanation for the pig oddities-the location is a renovated

This past Sunday was our first trip and we were thrilled with our experience. We shopped upstairs in the gift shop while we waited for a table, about 10 minutes. We were seated upstairs, which gives you a great overall view (I recommend you request upstairs). Our waiter had a great personality, made good suggestions & checked on us often. I highly recommend the sweet potato fries with dipping sauce, the biscuits and the chicken wrap. All four of us were very pleased with the staff and the food. We will definitely go back soon.

I have been here at least ten times and every time it is amazing. The country breakfast is what i get because it has a wide variety of food. You get two eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and biscuits, which always fills me to that perfect amount. How cool is it that it is in an old piggly wiggly? There is a gift shop that has unique little gifts, too. I suggest breakfast because it can be for anyone, while dinner can be more "gourmet". For instance i got catfish over spinach with a spice sauce. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES EVER!

NoFo at the Pig is an experience! Not only is it jammed packed with all sorts of gifts -- candies, cards, toys, trendy ornaments, dishes, etc. -- they have a small restaurant in the downstairs section that serves delicious food, including blue plate specials and unique offerings. While the retail section is a little packed -- move with caution -- it is definitely worth a visit for the one-of-a-kind gift for a friend. I love going there for stocking stuffers and little items to add to cards and small tie-ons for gifts. Reasonably priced items in the retail section. I would encourage you to try lunch or dinner there, too, especially one of their blue plate specials. And don't forget dessert!

Nofo has, without question, the best brunch in the Triangle. The french toast is soft and fluffy, and the Coastal Benedict is absolutely perfect. I don't like bloody marys, but my boyfriend says theirs are the best, and the mimosas are great too. However, the service ranges from alright to downright awful. We have sat at both the bar and the tables, and there is a 50/50 chance as to whether or not your server will realize that you're sitting there within 5 or 10 minutes. However, because the food is so amazing, I'll take the bad with the good. You'll still see me there at least a weekend a month.

Man, my first visit to NOFO at the Pig was awsome! There is this cool gift store upstairs with the cutest deli you have ever seen, the restaurant is down stairs. It was saturday night and we were seated very quickly with frindly service. The decor was eye catching. We were served bread as an appetizer with dip that had a hint of vinegar in it, that was lovely. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and fell in love instantly. It was garlic and mushrooms, bacon, shrimp and grits. I cannot stop thinking about it. I would highly recommend eating here, for the great food, great service, and great atmosphere! S

we visited here on a friday night thinking we would have a long wait. however, we were in luck because we were seated after only waiting for 10 minutes. our waitress was so sweet and knew the menu well. the food came out pretty quickly and the wine was delicious! not to mention the cute little store upstairs!

A coworker and I went to Nofo for lunch today. She had been there before and said the food was delicious, as did another friend of mine. I decided I was in a greasy kind of mood and ordered the 1/2 lb burger with harvarti with a side of cheddar mac. The burger was delicious! Juicy and yummy! The perfect burger for the perfect burger kind of day! When I ordered the cheddar mac, I assumed it would've been mac n cheese. I was so looking forward to mac n cheese! Nope, turns out it's a macaroni pasta salad with olives, cheddar, and some peppers cut up. It actually wasn't bad, but not what I was expecting, so don't get the cheddar mac if you want mac n cheese! :) Our waitress was a little flighty and had no personality, but was attentive and polite. The decor is very bright and fun and open. I'd definitely recommend visiting the gift shop upstairs. They have some really cool stuff and some really delicious looking desserts! I'd definitely go back, but try something a little more risque next time.

I have eaten at NOFO two times now, the first time wasn't that good, however, I figured I would give it a second chance. I ate there today and my meal was anything but good! Me and my friend each ordered different things and we both only ate a bite of our entree. When the waiter came he asked if we were done and took our plates, not even asking if we enjoyed our meal. (maybe it was so obvious because we didn't eat anything, however, most other restaurants would then ask if the food was good and get feedback from the customer). I would strongly recommend to find another place to eat in the Raleigh area.
P.S. My friend ordered a burger.......How can you mess that up?

This is my first time writing a review but after reading some poor reviews I felt I must defend my favorite restaurant. I found this place through a friend who loved their brunch on the weekends (which is amazing btw). Since that moment I have chosen this place for almost every special occasion. Its cozy, fun and inviting. Most of the wait staff is helpful and polite. I personally love what I call their special specials. They are not on the menu or written anywhere. Its normally what the cook has picked and normally its out of this world. I've only had one poor experience at Nofo and it was because I ordered something I normally wouldn't have picked. I highly recommend this place to basically everyone. They have the best salads too.

Delicious sunday brunch! Pretty good service. Different and fun. The store has a lot of great gift ideas, although somewhat pricey, depending. Also, good date spot.

TERRIBLE SEVICE!!!, I respect senior citizens, but this lady "REBECA", she is just the worst. I don't see the point of hiring a 60 year old lady who can't even take care of two tables, but the manager gives her five tables to take care of. Terrible attitude, angry face, it seems like smiling is not allowed at this restaurant. I bet Napoleon Dynamite and friend Pedro would do a better job there. Food is not too bad, though it would be much better if it was served warm. Well, maybe I shouldn't be writing so many bad things about this place, if you don't care going out and be treated like Nofo's mascot (a PIG), then you'll be fine.

I have mixed feelings on this restaurant. We go here every Sunday for brunch and the food is spectacular, I'd almost say the best breakfast I've ever had. Service varies, some servers are quiet & a little snobbish, others friendly and helpful. (Same applies to hostesses though they tend to be more snobbish than friendly). I've had to wait for sauces, drink refills, etc, but that can happen anywhere you eat when it's crowded. A larger selection of cozy booths would be nice and slightly more attentive wait staff but food needs NO IMPROVEMENT, it's great! Not very crowded during weeknights but usually packed by 10:15 for Sunday brunch.

What can I say? I keep going back because the place is just so damn cute! That said, I have to agree with previous reviews about the service. I've got about a 20% success rate for getting a competent and/or friendly server. Some dishes are better than others. The eggs benedict is always good as is the shrimp blt. The mango salad would be delicious if fresh rather than (stilll) frozen mango was used. AVOID the quiche which has been as hard as a rock the past two times I've ordered it. Also, the chocolates behind the glass in the boutique are stale.

NOFO Manager/Owner - It's not too late!! Save your restuarant by sprucing up the service and the food. Many people I know in the Fletcher Park and Five Points areas have a similar opinion as I've expressed, but are "on your side" and really hoping you can pull out of this slide! Good luck and godspeed!

Getting seated was a little frustrating. We first walked downstairs in order to request an outside seat. After being sent back outside to seat ourselves, we were told that the outdoor dining area had been closed.

Back inside, a request for a booth seat was denied because there were only two in the party. I've never really been denied a requested seat before, especially as the restaurant was clearing out after the lunch crowd.

The waitress was alright. She never offered to refill our drinks, and was absent for about 10 minutes when we were ready to leave. Eventually, we just walked to the counter to pay instead of waiting for the check.

I had a pimento grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. It was above average; and the fries were good, too.

Poor service and even worse food. The grilled chicken on the salad was baked, the crab cakes were greasy and haphazardly put together, and I could go on and on. There was only one server working and we never received drink refills, nor were we asked how the food was. There are much better restaurants to be found down the road.

WOW is the best way to describe NoFo at the Pig. It is one of the best places in town. And I eat out a lot! Considering the quality of the food, the cost is extremely reasonable - to say the very least. I recommend the Pulled pork sandwich! I look forward to visiting the NoFo again in the very near future. You should know that they do not accept reservations at NoFo - so make sure you get there before the line begins to form! Or you will be left out of of the PIG!

Great brunch at this place.. even better bloody mary's. I also enjoyed the store upstairs and it was fun to look at all the different unique items they carry. Only complaint was how slow the service was - our waiter was nice and friendly but service was slow.

After many visits of not getting it straight, we will no longer go to NoFo. We were excited at first because we were actually acknowledged at the host stand. I always get the Eggs Bendict and another side of Eggs Benedict. Needless to say instead of a side order, I was served two full orders and charged for them both. When I questioned the waitress after being served, I was told that "they don't do that". I told her I have always gotten this same thing. She got an attitude and walked away. My only recommendation is to STAY AWAY from the restaurant.

I went to Nofo's for the first ast night and I loved it! The prices were a little high, but it was worth it. The decor is interesting, the food was VERY good and the bartender made a mean French Martini. They have a store upstairs with many interesting wares. A little pricy, but fun stuff to look at. You may have a har tme finding a parking spot, but it's worth it!

Nofo has more chatracter than any other casual place in Raleigh (or the rest of the Triangle for that matter). It is so cute. The patio on a warm Sunday morning feels like a vaction spot. The service can be spotty but never mean spirited. It's all part of the charm. I never feel rushed. The food can be good to wonderful but never bad. My teenage daughter and i have made this a regualr spot for our Sunday mornings out. She absolutely adores the gift shop. It's just fun. Most of Raleigh is so boring. It's impossible to feel bored at the cute colorful Nofo. Yes the wait staff can be slow--so don't go if you're in a rush. Go when you want to enjoy your companion's company in a damn cool spot.

I've read a few of the most recent reviews, and I felt compelled to write one of my own. My wife and I have attended NoFo for Sunday brunch for years, and we have never received the negative and lax service described by some of the recent reviews. The staff is always friendly, courteous, timely, and very helpful. The food is always excellent. My personal favorites are the shrimp and grits, coastal eggs benedict, and their EXCELLENT burger and fries. We have never been in the restaurant more than an hour - an hour and a half.

My husband & I were the first table to be seated for Sunday brunch. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant. My husband and I began to feel left out as we watched all the tables around us get their drinks. After 10 minutes I stopped a server and asked if we could have something to drink. Instead of asking what we'd like, she said, "I'll find your server." After another 5 minutes we still had not been waited on. After 20 minutes and watching nine tables be waited on, my husband and I walked out. No one noticed. We do not recommend Nofo to anyone and feel sorry for all the future guests that will not be waited on as well!!!

We decided to try something new and the atmosphere looked great. That was the only good thing about Nofo. The food was okay, nothing exceptional and the service was past slow. It took almost an hour for our food to come out. And imagine after such a long wait to get average fare. I would agree with the reviews that there are much better places to go in the area. Also if you do decide to go, skip the blueberry and peach crisp, there is nothing crispy in it. Vin is a favorite of mine with excellent food and service. Save your money and go elsewhere!

I went to brunch yesterday at NoFo. We stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged are existence! Waited 30 minutes for a table to be barely server by one of the many waitstaff that was in a very bad mood. We barely saw her, and she was most unpleasant. I ordered something, then was told they were out of it. I then ordered the eggs benedict. They were good, except for the fact that fruit was served on the same plate. So, the muffins soaked up the fruit juices. NOT a good combination.

I wouldn't recommend eating here at all!

I love visiting NOFO for their food, ice cream, and the shopping. I have dined here numerous times and each time I go it seems that the service just keeps getting worse and worse. The food is great, I think they make great shrimp and grits and have one of the best salads downtown (Chicken Salad). I must admit though, as much as I like the food, I dislike the service. The wait staff is not very attentive or friendly, I always have to flag someone down to get my water refilled. I really hope that this will change soon, because NOFO is dropping to the bottom of my list.

I had reservations for dinner with three friends, and when we arrived, the hostess seated us in the back next to the restrooms. The staff was snobbish, and it took forever for our waiter to take our orders. Forget about drink refills. He hardly came back to check on us. We were a little younger than most of the crowd, so they must've assumed we couldn't afford the place and sat us out of the way in the back. Our food was pretty good, but nothing set it apart from any other place in the area. I have had much better and friendlier service at Vertigo and Irregardless. The gift shop is worth checking out, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Our food was pretty good, but nothing set it apart from any other place in the area. I have had much better and friendlier service at Vertigo and Irregardless. The gift shop is worth checking out, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Pros: , decent food, cute gift shop

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Raleigh.

The pan seared scallops are tremendous, as are the shrimp and grits. Everything is always well prepared.

One of the best things is the deck off Fairview Road. It's really great eating out there are a warm night.

Be careful during acorn season though. You'll laugh so hard as the acorn clang off the metal deck, tables, chair, and sometimes guests. And the cars that are parked right out from as well!

My wife and I visited Nofo for the 1st time and we were very impressed. We shared the fried calamari appetizer and were presented a huge bowl of crispy, delicious squid with two very good sauces: spicy marinara and roasted garlic aoli. The shrimp & grits entree was very good but the shrimp should have been de-veined before cooking, otherwise excellent. The lamb ragout was flavorful and very satisfying on a cold, wet night and the gorgonzola crustini were a perfect accompaniment to the dish. Service was excellent; prompt and attentive. Very good selection of wines to choose from as well. We will definitey go back.

My first experience at NOFO was a good one. The food was excellent and at a great price. A friend of mine eats lunch there quite often. I love the shop when you first come in and all of the specialty items they feature -- lots of gift ideas. What a great selection of wine, too! My only complaint was the sweet tea - I had to add sweetener to it! The service could have been friendlier - a smile would be nice, but he did his job and didn't let me run out of tea (or sweetener!). This is also a great location - you don't have to go all the way downtown.

Pros: great food, cute shop, specialty/gift items

Cons: iced tea not great, grumpy waiter, parking lot full

Nofo is a fun restaurant with really good food! The ambience is kitchy, but well-done considering it used to be a Piggly Wiggly (take note of the monkey and fruit chandelier)!

Pros: Food, Parking, Service

I had an excellent experience...the atmosphere was charming, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious. Stands apart from other local restuarants in that it has a definite personality of it's own.

I have to agree with other reviewers - that the service is lacking. We thought we would try somewhere new, but the staff had the attitude that they could have cared less that we were there. The food is okay, but it is a lot like other places (Vertigo, Hayes Barton Phara.) so they need to distinguish themselves. The food was good, but not better than Vertigo. NOFO did not distinguish themselves from other comparable places in Raleigh. Therefore, we will go to NoFo NoMo until they get a staff that gives a darn! Give us a reason to return, and we might try it again.
