One my wife and my favorite places in Charlotte. The food is always outstanding and we love the atmosphere. Also love the Hurricanes and their beer selection. Definitely recommend Cajun Queen. You can go wrong.

My husband and I wanted something different, and good, so after doing a little bit of research we decided to try the Cajun Queen. Our experience there was horrible, we had reservations for 8:00pm, we were not seated until 9:10, ok this made us think the food must be awesome, oh NO, The food was not seasoned well to say the least, and the portions were extremely small. I ordered the platter (sounds like a lot) I had 3 shrimp, 3 oysters, and a small peice of fish, My red beans and rice were cold. we did not get one refill on our drinks, after continuously asking, our server kept forgetting. The only good thing was the music, which is not jazz, but they still sounded ok.

Honey...I wouldnt waste my $ on this restaurant. They have very little variety and they only offer leg quarters (4 chic.) CAN I GET A BREAST! not sure what other meats they sell. Greens too spicy and not enough flavor. Wont go back!

I was looking for a nice romantic place for me and my husband to have dinner on new years. The Cajun Queen was more than I expected. Nice atmosphere, great food, and wonderful location. Being creole myself, its hard to find great Cajun food so far from home. I do recommend Cajun Queen, and already have to my friends. Thank you for a great start to our new year! Look forward to going again!

My wife and I visited this restaurant last year because it was voted the best Cajun Restaurant in the Charlotte area. We relocated to the Charlotte area from New Orleans a couple of years ago, and we want to try a restaurant with authentic Cajun food so I am not required to cook for hours in my own kitchen. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the service; however, if you are going there for authentic Cajun food, you would do better skip Cajun Queen and eat at Bojangles. The sauce on my meal was watered down and it had so much cayenne pepper in it that I had to drink two glasses of water to finish it. I told the server about it and we were given a free desert, but I don't suspect I will ever go back unless someone insists and is treating me.

really good food. i would like the dessert menu to offer more of a variety. when i order to go, they place everything delicately, not as if they are placing it in garbage bag like many places.

This was my first visit ever to a Cajun restaurant, so I can say nothing about authenticity. I will say that my chicken ?touff?e was delicious and reasonably priced. It was very spicy, as the menu indicated it would be. I would have preferred some side dish to have been included, not just rice. Dishes of other diners looked very good but similarly sparse, like the blackened catfish next to me which had two fillets on the plate and a decorative lemon, but nothing else. I'll go back.

My family and I have been going to the Cajun Queen since 1990. Tim has always gone the extra mile to make our dinner a great experience. The BBq shrimp are the best in the land and the fried oysters are to die for.
We sometimes sit with the music and other times on the beautiful patio. When I got laid off a few years back Tim even bought my dinner. This is a special place.
I would recommend this place to EVERYBODY!!

My choir reserved a week ahead of time an area near the band upstairs. When the 10 of us arrived a few minutes early, we were told by the hostess that there was a little "glich". We were informed that another group was in our reserved area and they wouldn't be finished for awhile. We were asked to wait at the bar or to sit downstairs at a table by the fireplace instead. We said that wasn't satisfactory and asked for the manager. Tim arrogantly informed us that he was the manager and the owner and what would we want him to do? We said we should have the space we reserved or at least some concession while we waited such as complimentary bar drinks. We were then told that if the party in our places took over a half hour, he would consider it-but suggested again that we take the downstairs area. Since we chose this restaurant because of the music we then left and went to another restaurant where we were treated with respect. We saw a limosine waiting as we left and felt that either this group had lots of money or some other advantage over us. Our church family and friends will not patronage Cajun Queen from now on!

The Canjun Queen is set in an old house and the atmoshpere does take you to another place. The tables are somewhat close so you are eating with strangers right next to you and in your conversation. The server was not able to fit inbetween the tables to the left or right of ours and had to serve from behind me, so initamcy is not available. The food was freshly prepared, but the Chef does not need to be so cautious with using salt and pepper as everything did lean to the bland side. One real critique I feel would be the Gumbo. Gumbo should be rich and thick with depth, this Gumbo was very thin and tomato-boullion like. It was fresh tasting but not the deep, rich taste I know Gumbo should be. The Shrimp and Grits were good but Creole sauce was tastelss. Despite the food being less than what expected, my wife and I liked this place and will return.

Had a great experience my fist time at the Queen of Cajun. I had the Bayou Platter and my girlfriend had the Etouffee. Both were excellent but I especially liked the blackened seasoning on the chicken and catfish mine came with. From what I heard the Etouffee is one of the most popular on the menu so you can't go wrong with either one.

Overall, I will def return and recommend.

The band is great but can be overpowering if you are right in front of them. I have had numerous items on the menu and have never had one dish that did not exceed my expectations. The BBQ Shrimp app is a MUST. I dont even care if they put the shrimp in, the sauce and bread are the best. you will get a different atmosphere and food quality is as good if not better that locations like del frisco.

By far the best Cajun restaurant in Charlotte! Whenever my husband and I have a date night, we tend to end up here. Great atmosphere, great food, and the servers are very friendly. Some of the food is spicy but I think that's to be expected at a Cajun restaurant. There are lots of things on the menu that aren't spicy, too, so there's something for everyone.

A mere 3 1/2 years ago, I was brought to Cajun Queen on a date. Since, this restaurant has been a favorite of mine. I love the atmosphere; always sitting upstairs! The jazz band provides fabulous live entertainment. However, I would advise sitting across the room is you are planning on having a quite conversation. Their is usually a wait and the bar upstairs provides great drinks to sip on while listening to jazz and waiting to be seated. The food is absolutely amazing. I have had many items off the menu, but usually order off the specials. If you haven't tried Cajun Queen- you are definitely missing out on one of Charlotte's best kept little secrets. Great dining with a group, on a date, or as a business dinner.

This place is great! Staff are very pleasant. Food is out of site!!! I have been a regular since '97. I have tried everything or just about and it's all delicious. Blackened is wonderful. Toppings you can get are excellent. The Dixieland Band is an asset to the already great atmosphere. Everyone should go and try this out. Kudos to the Cajun Queen!!!!

My wife and I went there tonight for our anniversary -- we try a new restaurant every year. This was our first disappointing experience in 8 years. The crawfish scampi was good, and my wifes meal was pretty good as she had the fried oysters and fried shrimp. I love Cajun food. Gumbo is one of my favorites and a good blackened catfish and shrimp. Thus, that is what I ordered. The Gumbe was not like any Gumbe I ever had -- and I have had Gumbo at many Cajun restaurants. I wrote it off as some places are just diffeent -- I still had my blackened shrimp and catfish coming. When the plate came out I smelled ash -- I thought someone had stirred the fire we were sitting by. When I put a piece of shrimp in my mouth I realized the smell was from my plate. It tasted as if someone had dipped it in an ash tray. Not only the worst cajun food I had ever had -- but the worst food I had ever had. I did taste the fish, to ensure it was the consitent -- it had the same taste. I called the waitor over and told him to simply smell the plate -- he agreed something was wron (or at least wanted to get a tip). The manager then came out and asked me if I wanted something else, my taste buds were scarred a little but I wanted the blackened. He very politly indicated that I was probably tasting what I was smelling and since I was by the fire and said I would probably be better off with a fried platter. Polite way of saying this is how we make it and the problem is me. Personally, the food would have never left the kitchen if I ran the place -- a simple sniff test. Other food there looked fin, my fried food was OK but overall I was very very disappointed. I could have gotten friend shrimp for less elsewhere and it would have been as good.

Don't try the blackened food unless you like to eat from an ashtray. Staff did nothing to try to make amends either (no discount, desert for free, etc). They really didn't care -- just wanted my money. I'll never go back.

This place is amazing. I came here to see a friend play, as they often feature live jazz, and not only was the music excellent the food was stunning. Real spicy Cajun food! Between the jazz, the ambiance, the classy service, and the really great food, this place has become one of my fav restaurants in Charlotte.

I've been going to the Cajun Queen for years, and I just love it. I used to go just for special occasions, but now that they've revamped, I'm there at least once a week. Their covered patio is the best room in the house, unless I'm in party mode--then I sit with the band upstairs. The wait on Saturdays can get pretty long, but as long as I have a spot at their new bar with a 7th Street Stumbler in my hand, I'm set. My husband likes it too--says his favorite thing about the new bar is their LCD HDTV. If I'm craving cajun and he wants to watch the game, we'll head over to the Queen and eat at the bar. It's a wonderful compromise.

The Jerk Chicken is simply amazing, as are the desserts. The prices are reasonable, especially for a local restaurant. The also have a small kids menu, with the typical fare.

Try the barbecued shrimp and fried oysters for appetizers. The oysters practically melt in your mouth. I had shrimp, chicken and crawfish "Diane" style and it was awesome. My husband had the duck and loved it too. We went there on a Saturday night and it was very busy, but be patient and you will not be disappointed.

We had our rehersal dinner in the upstairs part of this victorian house. It was amazing! The food was fabulous, as always. The service was helpful! The menu has so many choices that there are options for every taste! Spicy, mild, fried, boiled, the choice is yours!

We've found that wether there are 2 people or 22 the service is consistant. This is definately one of our favorite resturants in Charlotte!

I am not even a cajun food fan and I love this place. I have been once and it was really a treat. The salmon and shrimp are amazing - their spices are mouthwatering even for someone who doesn't have a taste for real hot stuff. Very cozy and romantic.

Great fun and great food have made the Cajun Queen an anticipated stop whenever we visit Charlotte. The food is always consistently good and the atmospher leads itself to a fun evening. The owners Rob and Howie go out of their way to make sure that each guest is treated royally.

We heartily recommend the Cajun Queen

This is the absolute best cajun place I have ever eaten at!! this is a ten all around. My boyfriend and I highly recommend the crawfish scampi, and make sure you dip the french bread in the sauce! This place not only has great food, but it has a live jazz band and it's in an old house, which just adds to the atmosphere. I wish we had a place in Atlanta as good as the Cajun Queen.
