The pizza is normally very good but tonight, we recieved an overcooked pizza. The crust was burnt on the bottom and complete ruined the taste. Not much we could do about it since we had already gotten home with it.

Wow. Everything they make is great. Every dish I've ever ordered there was fantastic. I originally come from an area with a lot of small family-owned Italian restaurants, where I'm positive they have old Italian grandmas in the kitchen. Daniels meets and often exceeds that excellent quality. I also highly recommend their catering. We ordered Chicken Parm. to feed about 25 people for a lunch and were absolutely blown away.

I will never go there again! We went there last night with reservations @ 5:00. The main dining room was half empty & they sat us & in the back in the private room. It was packed & the room was giving off an echo. It was so loud I clearly heard all the conversations around me but I could not hear someone sitting next to me. My 3year old was literally covering her ears. I went to the front desk & asked very nicely to move to another table. Considering there were plenty of tables available I didn't think it would be a problem. The manager Seth rudely told me that was our reserved table & it is that or nothing. I asked about one of the many open tables that were available & he said they were all reserved. I asked if he could switch one of the reservations with our table & he said no that is your table & the only one we have available for you. I said it was too noisy so we were going to have to leave. He said goodbye & then him & then the staff literally laughed in our faces. I could not believe it! Btw, this was at 5:00 before the restaurant was even crowded & all of this occurred in front of my two small children.

My family and I frequent Daniel's as well as his place in Raleigh, Spirits. The food is great, the atmosphere is a little busy but makes for a cozy family night out.

My simplest review...

There was not one thing that I didn't enjoy! Our meals were good, not great but good, and everything came out hot and fresh. Our deserts were ok, but were definitely the disappointment of the evening. I expected to be ""wowed"" by their deserts given the prices, however, they were just standard.

My only other issue was that our server did get a little impatient and ""snitty"" with our party of 12 at times. However, her redeeming quality was this - she was very knowledgeable about the wine and food menus. The other servers that assisted her at times also seemed to be lacking that 1 key ingredient that makes a 5 star experience...personality.

I will be going back, and hope to see more smiles next time =)

I dined at Daniel's for the first time this week and was very impressed. The food was delicious. I love to cook so always try to find things I can't make while eating out. There were plenty!! I had the southwest ravioli with shrimp, delicious! And they actually make their own tiramisu, which was the best one I have ever had, and it's my favorite dessert! I went on a Wednesday and it was even crowded in the middle of the week (although it wasn't hard to get a table at all and the service was great) which shows me how popular this place is. Definitely recommended!

Daniel's is my favorite place for Italian food in the Triangle. I go back for the Seafood Fra Diavlo time and time agan. The place is crowded, and a little loud but that is because the food is great.

This place is a circus. I like the circus but not when having dinner. If you want a more relaxing dinner experience, go to Chuck E Cheese. Food is subpar. Service is bush-league. Adding insult to injury, if you go to their web site to give feedback, they have a spam filter set so that no messages are allowed. I guess they've had too many irate customers try to contact them before! We will NEVER go back. Save time, save money, save the frustration and go anyplace other than Daniels.

We go to both Daniels, the one in Apex and the one out on Main Street in Fuquay. Both are equal in service, food, and atmosphere. Everyone always greets you with a friendly smile and treats you like family. I cant say my favorite because I love everything on the menu. Some nights we will just go for apizza together and a bottle of wine and its the best!!!

strange but we totally agree that the quality, portion size and the price do not match 'the excellent chain' down the street. The last several times the bread is not good; and the entire atmosphere that used to be so charming and fantastic before highway 55 became 5 lanes(!!) and the area so populated~the food that was worth the travel from CH~ well hope it all comes back...it's still always impossible to get in..so people must still be enjoying it.

My favorite thing about Daniel's (as other reviewers have mentioned) is the large menu selection. If I feel like pasta, seafood, salad, pizza, chicken, etc., Daniel's has it and it's always delicious. I like a restaurant where I have a lot of choices and Daniel's is my favorite place to try something new--I'm never disappointed. Try it--I highly recommend.

My family really loves going to Daniel's. For those nights whereI don't feel like cooking and want great Italian food, we go to Daniel's. We would go even more often if it were up to my kids! They have a wide selection of food, which is great since I have a family full of picky eaters and everything we've tried is high quality. I highly recommend.

I really like Daniel's--I visit at least once a month. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and I love to try something new every time I visit. The restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated, and the food is top-notch. I recommend this place to my friends all the time.

It was taking a long time for our food to come out. Two tables seated after us (one at least 15 min later) were both sered before our waitress though to check (my look at her when she served the second table probably reminded her). Some how the communication betwen the kitchen and the wait staff failed an our meals had to be remade owing to the time they sat. The waitress told us the manager was informed of the issue, yet he never came by to apologize for the problem. When we were leaving I asked to speak to the manager thinking I missed understood the waitress. Once he arrived, I informed of the problem and he basically said on yeah, sorry. Very disappointing. I doubt I will return, if you don't care about your customers' experience why return and risk another disappointment.

I ordered the chicken piccata and my boyfriend ordered the lasagna, and both dishes were delicious. I also liked that the servers were friendly and helpful with recommendations when we couldn't decide what to order. Overall, great atmosphere, convenient location and fresh food. I'll definitely visit again!

Being newer to the area, I was a little nervous to find out that my friends were taking me here for my birthday, especially after reading the post about the low health rating. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I think the calamari appetizer was the best I've ever had. Our server (an older gentleman) was very knowledgeable and professional. He had some great wine suggestions. All-in-all, a fantastic meal. And curiously, their rating was a 96, so maybe I misunderstood the posting claiming that it was low.

What a terrible place. I have never been to a place that was rated well, and felt like I was a bum. This is the worst place I have been in my life. The food was not authentic at all. It looked like you headed alfredo up in the microwave five days after eating it. The oil and fat in the dish (veal canneloni) was awful. That, however, was the highlight of our night. When you are forced to sit in this circa 1950's building you can be overwhealmed by the smell and poor artwork on the walls at first. If you are able to overcome this, you will be presented by an entitled staff lead by the worst management I have ever seen. If you like to torture yourself I would reccomend this farce of a restaurant. In all honesty, I can't belive this place is open with their sanitation score. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN RALEIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a waste of time!!! Never heard of the place, but we had to eat and were on our way home down highway 55. WOW were amazed at how dingy and dated the decor was here. The food was OK, however, that is not the entire story. Our waitress, from Buffalo as we are as well, was actually quite attentive and charming. Other than that the experince went downhill from there. Our food took forever! We had a small table agianst a wall right near the kitchen and could hear the entire staff. The owner seemed bitter and vengeful as we could hear him speak to the female manager. On top of this unprofessionalism, we heard the service staff all night as well. All we could hear is how they disliked working there and how the owner and management did not like the way the night was going. I have never heard such open negativity in a public esablishment before. We did like the food but the experiance was not worth it. I would reccomend Daniel's for individuals that live a negative lifestyle and enjoy petty bickering because that is all we could focus on. It is too bad that another restaurant is poorly run because the food was actually rich and of decent quality.

We weren't happy. The price went up and the meat portion was cut in half. For the price we paid we could have gone to the chain down the road. Really disappointed.....

Daniel's is our family's favorite restaurant in the Apex/Cary area. We order take-out there usually once a week and dine there several times yearly. There pasta and pizza are both as good as I've had for the price. They have quite a few different types of pastas. Our family favorite is probably just the basic Baked Ziti. Their dining room is casual with a European look and feel. They have outside dining and a small bar (inside). They handle their take-out business very well also, with a separate entry for that on the other end of the restaurant. Just a great place, the kind you always want to have nearby.

I was at the Fuquay Resturant this weekend. I really loved my server and the food was great. I don't think it could have been beter if I made it myself. My only problem was that the resturant was smokie. It made my eyes burn. When I asked my server what was going on she said some of the spices used to make blackened items was causing the smoke. It was really bad. I hope that it is not always like this because I want to go back. I will give it another try but won't return if the smoke continues.

There is a reason the parking lot at Daniel's is overflowing nearly every night: the food and service are excellent! The menu offers a wide variety of choices to suit everyone's tastes. The food is made with fresh ingredients. Try the pizza and you'll never order from one of those big chain pizza places again.

Overall a great value!

We went there recently and boy, is the service slow and unattentive (such as water refills). The food took a long time to get to our table, and it didn't taste all that good. The tomato suace is kind of metallic/acidic tasting - not pleasant. There are better places for Italian food. Also, the decor is cheesy, and the seating, booths, etc., are just low class feeling - like a chain panckae house or something.

I just finished reading thru some of the other reviews and was amazed at some of the opinions... Having said that, I recently had dinner at Daniels upon my brother's insistance and we had a wonderful experience. We had to wait for a while because we had a party of 7. The wait staff was WONDERFUL! Even before we were seated, the bartender and waiters made sure we were happy at the bar area. I have a 10 year old son, and he was a bit anxious because he was getting hungry, so they brought him some bread while we waited for our table.\r
After we were seated, we had 2 waiters, one was training the other, which I thought was great! They were both very charming and very attentive.\r
The food arrived promptly and was delicious, and I didn't find that it was over priced at all. I will be eating here again!

After hearing and reading about Daniel's my husband and I decided to dine there last night (Fuquay Varina).\r
If you are not looking for this restaurant, you'll pass it. It is set back from the road and not well lit.\r
There is a bar just beyond the front door which is not at all inviting. I'm sure that is why it was empty. The dining area is divided by a half wall. One side has booth seating and the other has tables and chairs. The atmosphere is busy and noisy like a cafeteria.\r
The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. That is as good as it gets. \r
We were presented with a 3 page wine list. However, when I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio I was not offered a choice of labels. I was served a glass of inferior white wine.\r
After hearing the ""specials"" recited by our waiter, I decided to try the Italian Wedding Soup for an appetizer. It looked very nice with fresh spinach leaves and 3 ""meat"" patties. Unfortunately, it tasted like warm water mixed with a jar of oregano. Progresso is far better! \r
My husband had the Baked Sausage and Peppers. The sausage was pretty good. The sauce was very acidic and tasted like it came out of a can. \r
I tried another ""special""; Pumpkin Ravioli. There were 5 or 6 large ravioli with a very tasty pumpkin filling. Unfortunately, they were drowned in a huge bowl of cream sauce with cranberries and walnuts. Way too much of a good thing! I had to hunt for the ravioli then scrape off the sauce. A small drizzle of the cream sauce would suffice. Or serve it on the side.\r
Midway through the meal our waiter brought a small plate of mass produced bread (I've seen it at Sam's). No butter, no olive oil, just a small bowl of that same tomato sauce for dipping.\r
We will continue to wait for a good restaurant to come to Fuquay Varina.\r
Until then, Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill will satisfy our Italian food cravings.

My boss first recommended Daniel's in Apex to my husband and me when we were in search of a great restaurant for ""date night"". We both loved it! When we found out they were opening a restaurant in Fuquay we couldn't wait to try it. We were not disappointed. We had several out of town visitors during the month of August and we took each one to Daniel's. We went 4x in August. Since we had a reservation each time, we were seated immediately and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed everything from the dinner salads (grapes, pears, pecans, and bleu cheese - YUM) to the delicious entrees (Penne alla Casa with chicken is my favorite) and the heavenly desserts (Chocolate Truffle Cake with Rasberry Sauce - rich but worth it). We are thrilled that Daniel's Restaurant has come to Fuquay.

We are thrilled that Daniel's Restaurant has come to Fuquay.

.

Daniel's food is always wonderful. There are times that the wait is a little long, but make a reservation, or just wait...it is worth it. From seafood pasta to pizza everything on the menu gets an A+. Some may think it is pricey but you are paying for wonderful food, freshness, and a great wine selection!!

We took my in-laws to Daniels in Fuquay Varina when they were here visiting from NY and we all loved it!! The food reminded us of the great meals we got in NY, and the atmosphere was cozy and warm. We had a reservation for 8 people and were seated as soon as we entered. Every coarse was wonderful. My in-laws want to go back next time they visit and we hope to go efvery chance we get!! I've also been there for lunch with friends and the prices were reasonable for the food, and we weren't rushed out (we sat there for 3 hours!). We are so glad they opened one in Fuquay Varina!

We recently visited the new Daniel's on Main street in Fuquay Varina. The restraunt was extremely noisey and could use better accoustics. My wife and I felt that the food was all right, however it was extremely pricey for pasta. In looking at the menu of their Apex restraunt the prices at the Fuquay restraunt were a \r
great deal more. I had their ravoli in what was suppose to be a white cream sauce but it looked more like a brown sauce (possibly the butter was burnt in the sauce) and the fried onions on top did nothing for the pasta dish. I would not consider this the type of restraunt that I would frequent on a regular basis.

I was visiting friends in NC and we went to Daniels for dinner one night and we had such a nice experience. The food was delicious and hot, the service was spot on and the manager, Dale, visited the table and recommended the kind of wine we should have with our dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone I know who visits Raleigh, NC. I will come back to this restaurant the next time I visit my friends.

I love going to Daniel's it the best place to eat. I frequently go to both locations in Apex and Fuquay and every time it's a pleasure. Their food is great and I enjoy the menu selection and of course the extensive wine list. There desserts are to die for, I suggest the white chocolate raspberry cheese cake, yummy! \r
There service is very good as well, from the moment you walk in the door till the time you leave it's a great place to go. I promise you will be pleased.

I just recently moved back to the RTP area after two years of being away and a few weeks ago, decided to revisit one of my favorite restaurants, Daniel's. Let me just say, I was just appalled how quickly this place has deteriorated, not just physically, but particularly in the management style. Thankfully, I had a server whom I remember working there from previously, because she was excellent. In fact, from what I could see, most of the servers did a pretty good job.\r
\r
But getting back to the management, I had a slight issue with my food, and was informed that the manager would take care of it. He was rude and obviously had no clue what he was talking about. His attitude was totally demeaning and talked to me like a child. It was so embarrassing for me to hear this in front of my wife and two friends that I nearly walked out. Sadly to say, I will absolutely never be coming back. Clearly from the looks of it, alot of people are not going back, because there was next to no wait the entire night and it was a friday evening. We ended up going to Ciao's the next friday in downtown Apex, and the place was crawling with people.\r
\r
Arrivederci, Daniel's! It is much easier now to find a nicer restaurant with comparable prices without the snobby management.

I've been to Daniel's a handful of times after listening to people yammer on incessantly about its worth. Daniel's is everything it was advertised as being... if you've never been out of Wake County and your only previous Italian food was a Pizza Hut buffet. Aside from their dumbfounding popularity, Daniel's is just okay at everything. Food was okay; service was okay; the place is always crowded; the layout is cramped which leads to the place being unusually noisy; the parking lot is difficult and the mussels smelled like cat unrine. There are a multitude of better options in the area.

Great food, Great Staff, Great wine. Been going to Daniel's on a regular basis for over ten years. Best Calamari we have had anywhere. The staff is sincere and concerned about your experience at daniel's.

We have been going to Daniels on a semi-regular basis for the past 3 years.. We have a large family and get together to go out to dinner on a regular basis, with Daniels being one on them. However, tonight will be our last night there. We had a group of 14 people as always to celebrate a birthday in the family. MY Aunt who is almost 80- always orders off the childrens menu and they have never had a problem with it before. She just cant eat much of anything. We didn't care if there was an extra charge, but the waitress said that she couldnt do it and then she got a female manager to come over and said that they weren't allowed to do it either. Which is ""age discrimination"" by the way. We told her that we were going to just go, because of the ""principal"" of this matter and then she stated that she would do it just this once. But by this time, we had such a horrible experience with rude people there, that we had had enough. It's not like we werent going to spend money there. Well, they lost a table of 14 people due to one elderly person being denied a kids meal purchase. We had ordered a bottle of wine and some drinks, and paid for those and told them goodbye.. We then went to Carrabbas off Hwy 55 and had a great time with friendly staff as always. Too bad Daniels will not be receiving our business anymore. I think that since they opened their new restaurant in Fuquay, they have there trained, proper staff working at that new location and are settling for rude, mete ocher staff at the Apex location...

I have live in the Triangle since I was a child and of all the restaurants Daniel's is my absolute favorite. The atmosphere is cozy and perfectly Italian. The food is wonderful and there isn't a thing on the menu I wouldn't order. The best tried and true favorite being the Penne a la Casa. I have used them for both catering functions as well as taking my family there and every time they raise the bar of excellence. YUMMY!!

The food here is great. The prices are a little high, but so worth it. The lighting could be better, it is a little dark. The decor is nice and the service was great. I would recommend eating here. It is located off the side of Highway 55 and at times it is hard to get out of the parking lot, but don't let that stop you.

I just went to Daniel's for to take advantage of their ""Wine Wednesday"" (20% off all bottles) and was glad that I gave it a 3rd try. I have attempted to go there twice before and decided not to wait out the crowd. Last night, I had no problem getting a table (I'm told this is because they now have a 2nd place in Fuquay). I sat on the patio thanks to a break in the heat wave that we've been having and had a great meal and great service. The cranberry chicken salad is excellent and l loved the seafood bisque that I was able to steal from my husband. My shrimp meal was spicier than I liked, but I did ask for hot. Next time I will be sure to ask for medium. My husband said his Veal Cannaloni was awesome. We split a monster-sized strawberry shortcake and had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio. All in all, a nice ""date night"". This was totally worth the wait, but I'm glad there was no wait. Yeah for the Fuquay restaurant!

We have tried so many Italian restaurants and always come back to Daniels for real Italian food. They have great pizza, the ONLY real greek salad around and all the pasta's are delicious. Only problem is the crowds so try take out which can also get crowded on weekends. We have seen a trend of increased prices over the past few years. Our biggest regret is that there is not a Daniels in North Raleigh where a good Italian restaurant is Much needed. We've got just the spot of real estate if they are interested!!!!

I have to admit I was very spoiled by Guarino's Restaurant in Cary for many years and was very sad to see them close. I have yet to find Italian food as good as theirs. My personal test is Egg Plant Parmigiana and I was very disappointed. The egg plant should be soaked in milk to keep it tender, lightly fried, then Layered ( I stress Layered) in a dish with marinara sauce and cheese, many layers, like lasagna. This way the flavors all combine with each other and the egg plant is moist and delicious. Daniels egg plant was about the size of a silver dollar (never have I seen one that small), fried hard and crunchy, with cheese melted on top of it. They also serve it over pasta. I prefer my pasta served on the side. The marinara sauce reminded me of salsa, a lot of chunky tomatoes without a whole lot of flavor, like it had not been simmered enough. I couldn't even taste the garlic! My husband had a deluxe pizza, which he said was ""okay"" and could get the same quality in a mall. \r
We went on a Monday night so we did not have to wait but a few minutes to be seated. The service and atmosphere was good. I was surprised at the rating of 90.5, which now I know has been a constant problem. If they took the course for 2 extra points, that means their rating is actually a ""B"". Will I go back? No. My quest to replace Guarino's continues.

All I kept hearing from everyone was how good this place was for authentic Italian. Finally, an Italian resturant that did not disappoint me in any way. The food was perfect. Perfect temperature, seasoning, flavor, the waiter was helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable and could be utlized as casual or for a special occassion. Everything was what I kept hearing - I HIGHLY recommend this place.

After going to Daniels for dinner a few times, I have to second what people say in recent reviews, obviously there are more negative reviews recently and there of course is a reason for that. One of the biggest issues is here in the Triangle, even with the incredible amount of transplants, no one steps to the plate and opens a cutting edge eatery. Daniels has been around for some time, and their food is OK. No biggie. If however you put them up against a leading NYC trattoria or say something in Chicago, off Lincoln Park, Daniels wouldn't last a minute. Service is a problem....they don't seem to pick up on that. Consistency is another issue, we see it in our own dining experience. With profit margins at about zero for a non-franchised restaurant, you do have to give these folks credit for surviving. But unfortunately, you have to do far more to remain on the cutting edge.

I took family friends from back home in Syracuse to Daniels last Sunday. We had a party of 5 and called for reservations for 7:30 and were seated as soon as we got there - no waiting at all. If you have never met people from Syracuse you may be surprised how much we complain - it truly is an art form. Let me say that everyone couldn't have been more pleased with the prompt and friendly service and the food which is pretty impressive considering each one of us is picky when it comes to Italian food. The first good comment of the night from our group went something like this - ""Oh, they got the salad right. It is at a perfect room temperature"". This should give you an idea of the detailed examination of food I am talking about. All the food turned out great and I must say that their new veal dish was out of this world good. One of our party commented that the Fettuccini Alfredo was the best he had ever had. A bold statement considering we have a Little Italy back home is Syracuse. Other dishes included the Lasagna, Veal Parmesan and Veal Marsala. Anyway I am always hesitant about taking people out to eat who are visiting from out of town in the Triangle because we are saturated here with fly by night operations and tgi-McFunnsters. Daniels is truly a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend it.

The service and food were great. The mussels in white wine sauce have a very unusual if not almost down right nauseating aroma to them making it slightly hard to actually eat them and enjoy their great taste. This was my first time visiting this resturant. The atmosphere was cozy, almost too cozy at the entrance. I noticed the low sanitation score, but since I was already there, I had to see what the hype was all about. Normally I would not have gone to this resturant if I had read the sanitation score and why it was low. I did not check it out before I arrived. I checked later why the score was low and was slightly disturbed since the reason the score was low was because of low food temperatures... meaning, food was not hot enough or water nozzels at the bar were dirty. I checked the last few sanitation ratings as the one before the more recent was even lower. I will not be revisiting this returant until the score is higher at least twice in a row.
