Fast and affordable. I get same-day turn around every time I receive service there - important, since biking is my primary mode of transportation. Eric always presents multiple solutions for a given problem and the pros and cons for each while noting which are most likely to save money.

Long story short, I took my bike to another shop in town, and was told I needed a completely new frame!

Took it to Monkey Wrench for a second opinion (after I suspected the first bike shop was full of idiots), and turns out I needed a simple $80 part. They saved me several hundred dollars.

One guy there (Eric, I think) can be short with you... but he knows his stuff. No, he won't hold your hand and treat you like a little kid, but if you get past his short, direct, answers, he really is great to deal with. They generally don't charge you full price for new parts, and will give you a deal if you work with them.

They can get you anything you need, and are good with advice if you can make a decision on your own (no they won't tell you what you SHOULD do, only tell you what's available). Example, I was there looking at bikes, and a kid pulled a fender off the wall. The kid looks over at the guy helping me and asks, "Are these any good?" The guy helping me didn't miss a beat and said, "No. They don't work for crap." How's that for honesty?

They also do some very nice custom bikes, and have great vision when it comes to ideas.

Trust me, they're the best in L-Town. The shop is small, but the knowledge, quality of work, and cycling I.Q., is HUGE.

But they seem a little too concerned with the "regular" customers. And not all the interested in someone that simply walks in. This is too bad as they do have a VERY decent selection of nice rides. But I opted to make my purchase from a different store.
