If you want your child to love gymnastics, enjoy herself or himself, and be glad to go to class, Pioneer Gymnastics Academy is for you. The staff take an enthusiastic, positive, encouraging approach to coaching. Their only agenda is "what is best for this child at this time", not "what is best for me the coach." The children are never belittled, put down, or yelled at, or harshly scolded. Children almost always leave there feeling good about themselves, and knowing what they need to work on next. The staff seem to enjoy their jobs as well as working with the kids.

The owner has the philosophy that God, family, and school come before gymnastics. Safety is also paramount. He doesn't place unreasonable time or monetary demands on parents. He wants kids to have a positive experience, because he thinks the development of a lifelong love of physical activity and self-discipline begins in childhood, and that this is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child.

There is a competive team at Pioneers Gymnastics Academy, for kids who are interested and have the skills. To be on the team is quite a bit more expensive, but I think it is worth the cost--if your child is passionate about gymnastics, and is often at the gym, and is always working towards new goals, he/she will be less likely to get in trouble, get bad grades, or make poor choices about social activities with peers (like drugs and alcohol.) Gymnastics is year round, so there are not "off" seasons that give your child room to get in trouble.

If you want a place that will crack the whip with your child, and be firm and unbending, and mold them into an Olympic gymnast, this is probably not the gym for you. However, many of the highschool gymnasts at Pioneer do go on to get college scholarships.

PROS: Safe, happy place for kids. Expert staff. Good Equipment.
