Another chain restaurant. This outlet was clean every time I strolled in and ignored the "wait for server" sign and sat where I wanted. Hey!!!! I'm the one forking over the money so if they want my legal tender they gotta' cater to ME!!!!! If they don't like it there's only a multitude of other places to go.

Of course, being a brawny alpha male usually allows me to sate my pecadillos without harassment.

As I settled into the comfy booth and opened the daily newspaper a strapping lad arrived and offered me coffee. Well...what a nice young man!!! I asked if the coffee was free and he said, "No." Darn, my hopes and dreams again dashed upon the rocks of despair. Sigh.......

Well, I went ahead and accepted the brew then asked about specials. The obviously well-endowed lad, well-endowed with a prodigious memory, reeled off a lengthy list of offerings. Impressed with his feat of memory I had to ask him to repeat the lengthy recital. By golly, do these folks spend an hour daily rememberizing all that stuff? It would hurt my head to read it off a printed list!!!!

Unable to absorb all the different daily special offerings I just looked at the pretty menu. Sure was a fancy one. Lots of pretty pictures and BIG words. I always order breakfast at the International House of Pancakes and get the BIG offering with several eggs, hash browns, a pancake or two and just to ensure the bulbous belly is full usually order some biscuits and gravy. Oh, sausage, too. I prefer the patty style but the round critters will do.

Life is short, live it up!!!! Go ahead and eat 3,500 calories at one sitting!!! What if a famine started tomorrow? If it does you'll be glad you had a BIG breakfast.

I ate every last bite of that food. It was good. The eggs were fried nicely, the pancakes were yummy, the sausage was tasty and not too greasy and the biscuits and gravy were tasty and the hashbrowns slid down with ease.

I have had several breakfasts at this outlet and all were good. I do stop by during the off-hours so that may help. When they are swarming with customers I don't think the service can be as good and the kitchen dudes and dudettes have to strive for quantity not quality. This is true at many restaurants; timing to avois the crowds CAN result in a more well-prepared meal.

Never tried their non-breakfast offerings so can't comment on them.

Oh, I did leave the lad a decent tip. Told him to use it for his college education.

Any of you old-timers recall when all IHOPs had an A-frame style building with a blue roof? If so... you're an old coot!!!!!

PROS: Tasty breakfast
CONS: can be crowded
