This is a family favorite! You drive in your own vehicle around this very large animal park (approx. 4 miles) and see the animals up close. You can go very slow through the park and really enjoy the sight-seeing. You can ride in the tram if you prefer, weather permitting.

All I can say about the Wildlife Safari is WOW! This is an outing that mostly takes place in your car - it's a drive through so many different kinds of habitats - You begin by travelling through a prairie full of elk, continue through wetlands and buffalo country, to name a few. There is also an area, Wolf Canyon, where you can get out of the car and hike a bit. Black Bears and Wolves run free (well, in a fenced enclosure!) and they are so much fun to watch. Buffalo walk within a few feet of your car. This is a must-do on a nice afternoon! The cost is very reasonable also.

With an Omaha Henry Doorly zoo membership card, it's only a few dollars for a carfull of people to ride through the Safari Park. You get to go through different wildlife exhibit areas and see a variety of animals. At one point, you can get out and hike around to some of the others. The speed limit is 10MPH, so it's safe for the kids to be squirming in their seats trying to see everything, too!
